Chapter 103: Song Qingtian, You’re Dead!

Song Qingtian was fast asleep, completely unconscious. Ling Nuonuo combed her hair and tucked the blanket around her.

Her phone rang, so Ling Nuonuo hurried to the bathroom to answer it, not wanting to disturb Mommy.

“Song Qingtian, you’re dead!”

Ling Hanyu’s voice was chillingly menacing, scaring Ling Nuonuo so much that her little face turned pale, and she burst into tears: “Daddy’s bad! Daddy’s going to kill Mommy!”

After saying this, Ling Nuonuo threw down the phone and wailed uncontrollably.

Song Qingtian woke up in a fright and started searching everywhere for her child, only to find Ling Nuonuo crying miserably in the bathroom.

She picked up her daughter, coaxed her for a long time, but Ling Nuonuo clung tightly to her, refusing to say a word no matter what Song Qingtian asked. Finally, Song Qingtian found the phone and saw the caller ID, so she called Ling Hanyu back.

When he answered, Ling Hanyu didn’t say a single word.

He was worried it might be their daughter.

“I’m Song Qingtian.”

By now, Song Qingtian had already calmed her daughter down, but she still looked dejected, leaning weakly on her shoulder and holding her tightly without saying a thing.

“Where were you just now?”

Once he’d regained his composure, Ling Hanyu was furious—he wanted to kill Song Qingtian.

“I just fell asleep. What did you and Nuonuo talk about that scared her so much?”

“I told you you’re dead,” Ling Hanyu snapped.

Ling Hanyu was fuming; if Song Qingtian hadn’t left with someone else, would he really have been this angry?

Song Qingtian realized what had happened. “Come back, I’ll explain to Nuonuo.”

After hanging up, Song Qingtian explained everything to Ling Nuonuo, and soon Ling Nuonuo understood: “Mommy went out with someone, and Daddy got mad—was he jealous? So Daddy was trying to scare Mommy?”

“Something like that.”

“So Daddy wasn’t really going to hurt Mommy?”

Ling Nuonuo was just a child; she preferred to believe the good and refused to believe the bad.

And Song Qingtian’s explanation happened to be exactly what Ling Nuonuo had been hoping for.

The whole situation was quickly resolved.

But when Ling Hanyu came home, Ling Nuonuo was still worried: “Mommy, is Daddy going to hit you?”

“Well… it’s possible. That depends on you then.”

Ling Nuonuo widened her big, beautiful eyes. “Mommy… I’ll protect you!”

“Nuonuo, wait until Daddy gets back, then go straight to him and hug him tight. Tell him Mommy didn’t mean to do it—ask him to help Mommy. Daddy loves and cares for you so much; for your sake, he won’t hit Mommy.”

“Wow, Mommy… Nuonuo’s so brave!”

Ling Nuonuo wore an innocent expression.

“Of course! After all, Nuonuo is Daddy and Mommy’s precious baby!”

Just as they were talking, Ling Hanyu returned from outside. Aunt Chen, afraid that Ling Hanyu might find out about Song Qingtian’s late-night outing, hurried upstairs to warn them that Mister was back.

“Let’s go,” she said.

Song Qingtian picked up her daughter’s soft little body and headed downstairs.

On his way back, Ling Hanyu was indeed furious—but once he’d frightened his daughter, he felt uneasy.

He worried that she might be afraid of him, get hurt, and carry those scars for the rest of her life.

As soon as he walked through the door, Ling Hanyu changed his shoes and was about to go find his daughter to explain things when he heard her sweet, mellow voice: “Daddy…”

Ling Hanyu froze, unable to move.

He stood at the doorway, watching as Ling Nuonuo ran toward him.

“Daddy…”

Ling Nuonuo dashed over, her little bare feet flying as she raced toward him.

Bending down, Ling Hanyu scooped up his daughter’s soft little body and cradled her gently in his arms.

“Daddy, Mommy knows she was wrong. Can you please not be mad at her?”

Ling Nuonuo was worried that Song Qingtian would be blamed, so she lowered her little head, her face full of concern, her tiny hands clasped together.

Ling Hanyu instinctively understood that Song Qingtian had promised to explain to him before ending the call.

He raised his eyes and looked at Song Qingtian standing across from him.

Song Qingtian explained: “Nuonuo is still young; she doesn’t understand that you were just trying to scare me, and she got scared. But I didn’t mean to do it either—it was… it was Qin Xiaotian who forcibly took me away. He said he had something urgent and didn’t have time to drop me off, so he brought me along instead. Now I’m back, and I’m really sorry!”

After finishing her explanation, Song Qingtian bowed deeply to Ling Hanyu.

Logically speaking, with this kind of apology and the fact that his daughter had helped clear up the misunderstanding, he should have forgiven Song Qingtian.

But at that moment, Ling Hanyu’s anger was skyrocketing.

He was practically ready to kill her.

“Daddy, Mommy’s been very good—please, for Nuonuo’s sake, don’t be mad at her, okay?”

Ling Nuonuo kept pressing her advantage—she was determined to protect Mommy!

With that, Ling Nuonuo wrapped her arms around Ling Hanyu’s neck and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Thanks to her daughter’s divine support, even though Ling Hanyu was seething with rage, he managed to rein it in.

Kissing his daughter’s little face, Ling Hanyu held her close, gently patting her back as they walked inside.

“Daddy loves Mommy—how could he possibly be mad at her?”

As he spoke, Ling Hanyu’s eyes glinted with icy coldness, his pupils narrowing slightly: Song Qingtian, you’re dead!
