Chapter 121: The Attitude of Not Being Pregnant

Ling Hanyu was waiting for Song Qingtian at the office, and as soon as mother and daughter arrived, they went straight to him.

Once inside the office, Song Qingtian put Ling Nuonuo down.

Ling Hanyu looked up at Song Qingtian, clearly displeased: “Be more careful! Who told you to hold Nuonuo? Where’s Secretary Yang?”

Yang Yifan was standing right there, and he was actually quite eager to watch the show.

“It was me who asked to hold her,” Song Qingtian said.

Song Qingtian knew that Yang Yifan was there just to watch the drama. She didn’t mind being watched, after all—what was the big deal if she wasn’t pregnant?

It wasn’t like it was a life-or-death situation. At worst, she’d just be accused again of scheming against Ling Hanyu.

Ling Hanyu frowned and shot a glance at Yang Yifan.

Ling Nuonuo ran over to him: “Daddy, Mommy has something to tell you!”

Ling Hanyu immediately set aside whatever he was doing, bent down to pick up his daughter from the floor, and gave her a kiss.

“What is it?” he asked.

Even though he had only been apart from Song Qingtian for two hours, it felt like months had passed—something he’d never experienced before.

Song Qingtian put Ling Nuonuo’s schoolbag down and said, “I wasn’t feeling well downstairs just now, so I went to the hospital.”

Ling Hanyu’s expression darkened: “What do you mean?”

“I’m not pregnant—there’s no pregnancy!” Song Qingtian declared.

Ling Hanyu’s face instantly grew icy cold. He shot another look at Yang Yifan, who quickly lowered his head.

Ling Nuonuo, afraid that Song Qingtian would be scolded, hurriedly interjected: “Mommy didn’t mean to! She didn’t even know!”

Yang Yifan thought that if he hadn’t happened to find out about this, Song Qingtian might never have admitted it on her own. With him around, she’d only reveal the truth out of sheer necessity.

As for whether she’d deliberately deceived him from the start or not, that remained unclear.

“You’re going to treat me like this just because I’m not carrying your child?” Ling Hanyu fumed, unable to contain his anger.

Song Qingtian had anticipated this—sure enough, she was misunderstood again.

So she replied earnestly: “I didn’t mean to! I’m sorry!”

“Sorry? Is saying ‘I’m sorry’ really enough?”

The more Ling Hanyu thought about it, the angrier he became. This open and honest attitude was, in fact, a blatant reminder that they should get a divorce!

“Daddy…” Ling Nuonuo pouted, “Mommy’s already apologized—please forgive her! Nuonuo… doesn’t want any little brothers or sisters either!”

Ling Nuonuo pulled out her trump card—when Daddy listened to her, he’d surely give in. Sure enough, Ling Hanyu looked at his daughter in his arms and frowned deeply: “Why?”

“Nuonuo doesn’t like it—if Mommy has little siblings, she won’t love Nuonuo anymore!”

“But that won’t happen! Mommy will still love Nuonuo just as much!”

Ling Hanyu was furious. To think that this woman would go so far as to indoctrinate their daughter with such ideas just to avoid having his child—it was simply outrageous!

“Daddy, then please don’t be mad at Mommy, okay?” Ling Nuonuo shook Ling Hanyu’s arm and even kissed him on the cheek.

Ling Hanyu looked at his daughter and couldn’t bring himself to refuse. But seeing Song Qingtian standing across from him like a fool, not even offering a single word of appeasement, made him even more enraged.

In the past, when faced with situations like this, he wouldn’t have known how to explain himself. Now, though, he didn’t even need to try to placate her.

“What did the doctor say?” Song Qingtian asked.

“The doctor said I’m not pregnant—I must’ve forgotten. During my last checkup, my period was only two days late!”

In other words, there was absolutely no chance of pregnancy.

Ling Hanyu’s face was as cold as ice, his gaze piercing and frosty. A heavy gloom hung over him.

Yang Yifan slowly raised his eyes to meet Ling Hanyu’s, wondering why he felt so strongly that Song Qingtian wasn’t pregnant this time—and that Ling Hanyu was extremely unhappy about it.

Then Song Qingtian spoke up: “At the time, I only kept thinking about the medicine I’d taken, obsessing over how I could possibly be pregnant and completely forgetting about my period. It was my carelessness!”

The mere mention of “carelessness” made Ling Hanyu so angry he almost stood up.

To talk about carelessness when it came to a pregnancy—what else could Ling Hanyu say?

“Let’s put this matter aside for now. I’ve got other things to attend to,” Ling Hanyu said, looking down at his daughter in his arms. “Nuonuo, even if Mommy and Daddy have little siblings, you’ll always be our most beloved treasure, understand?”

“Oh!” Ling Nuonuo already knew—Mommy had told her.

She was just trying to help Mommy.

Ling Hanyu put his daughter down, glared at Song Qingtian in fury, and prepared to get back to work. But from that moment on, no matter what he did, he couldn’t concentrate. He wanted to get angry, but his daughter was there, so he couldn’t; and if he didn’t get angry, he just bottled it up—unable to let it out, unable to release it.

It was at that moment that Yang Yifan realized how big a mistake it had been to stay. General Manager Ling was clearly in a terrible mood, and staying here was anything but wise.

Song Qingtian stayed behind to help her daughter with her homework—the assignments given by the kindergarten teacher—and she felt completely at ease. Since she was dressed casually, it didn’t matter whether she squatted, sat down, or crossed her legs.

Mother and daughter worked together on the sofa, completing the assignment side by side.

Ling Nuonuo quickly forgot about Mommy not being pregnant and Daddy’s displeasure. Every time she saw Song Qingtian draw her favorite picture, she’d exclaim in amazement, “Wow!”

Meanwhile, Yang Yifan, standing by the door, was startled by these exclamations and nearly jumped out of his skin.

Across from them, Ling Hanyu’s gaze was razor-sharp—he was terrified of meeting Ling Hanyu’s piercing stare.
