Chapter 158: Living Like a Rascal
Chapter 158: Living Like a Rascal
Song Qingtian reasoned with Ling Nuonuo before taking her to the kitchen and personally preparing a delicious treat to reward the little cutie.
When Ling Hanyu came out, Ling Nuonuo was already exclaiming in delight.
Ling Hanyu sat down and watched the mother and daughter happily together—a complete 180-degree turnaround from before.
But back then, Song Qingtian had been constantly clinging to him; now, her sole focus was on their daughter.
Ling Hanyu leaned back in his chair, casually crossing his legs.
Just as he was about to pull out his phone to take a look, Song Qingtian’s actions sparked his displeasure.
Ling Hanyu looked up and saw that Song Qingtian had already taken their daughter—cuddled like a soft little ball—and walked away.
The remaining food was also left abandoned.
Who was Ling Hanyu? He instinctively sensed something was amiss.
Yet even though he sensed it, he still couldn’t figure out what on earth Song Qingtian was thinking. Why would she suddenly lose her temper for no reason?
After soothing their daughter to sleep, Song Qingtian opened her phone and began searching for neighbors in City A who ran good welfare institutions.
She had taken a real interest in the issue of the welfare home—it absolutely had to be handled properly.
Now that this hot potato had landed in her hands, she was determined to make sure it was done right, no matter how scalding it might be.
When Ling Hanyu returned, the door clicked shut.
Song Qingtian looked up and saw Ling Hanyu walk in.
Ling Hanyu stripped off his clothes, ready to take a shower, scattering them all over the place like some kind of rascal.
Song Qingtian was quite displeased. She covered her daughter’s little face with the blanket and got out of bed.
Since there was no way to talk things out in the bedroom, they’d just have to go outside.
Putting away her phone, Song Qingtian picked up the clothes from the floor and tossed them to Ling Hanyu.
Ling Hanyu felt as if he’d been slapped. He glared at Song Qingtian, clearly annoyed: “What are you doing?”
He was still upset—why on earth was she losing her temper like this?
“Come on out.”
Song Qingtian gave Ling Hanyu no chance at all and headed straight for the door.
Reluctantly, Ling Hanyu put on his shirt, glanced at his sleeping daughter, and followed her outside.
Once they were out, Song Qingtian went straight to the study.
Ling Hanyu promptly followed her in.
“Nuonuo is a girl—you can’t act like a rascal in front of her.”
As soon as Ling Hanyu stepped into the room, he was met with Song Qingtian’s stern, serious expression.
And with her rapid-fire speech and earnest look, Ling Hanyu was momentarily taken aback.
“Who are you calling a rascal?”
Ling Hanyu took a step closer to Song Qingtian.
Song Qingtian wasn’t afraid of him at all—when it came to their daughter, she wasn’t afraid of anyone!
“Let me finish speaking.”
Song Qingtian was very serious; whenever it came to their daughter, she was always dead serious.
Ling Hanyu realized that Song Qingtian had been on high alert day and night, constantly watching over every detail concerning their daughter—she was afraid their daughter would end up following in her footsteps.
Ling Hanyu felt rather uncomfortable about this.
On the one hand, there was the fact that Song Qingtian had once liked him, which made his feelings complicated.
He had indeed hated her at first, but now he was actually upset that she had given up halfway through.
It’s understandable if someone stops liking another person after just a day or two, or even after a month or two.
But Song Qingtian had been interested in him for far longer than that—way longer than a year or two.
That was something he just couldn’t wrap his head around.
He himself thought he’d gone too far when he initially rejected her.
Yet Song Qingtian kept pestering him relentlessly, making him feel as though she’d never let go no matter what.
But now, she hadn’t done anything at all—she’d simply said she wanted to leave.
Was there any concrete evidence behind this?
Ling Hanyu was quite dissatisfied with this.
At first, he had assumed that Song Qingtian’s resentment stemmed from the fact that he hadn’t handled her parents’ situation promptly enough and had even asked Secretary Yang to convey his intention to divorce.
But now, he suddenly realized that the most likely reason for Song Qingtian’s decision to leave was that she wanted to be with Qin Xiaotian.
Even though she kept insisting their relationship was nothing more than a life-saving favor.
Still, Ling Hanyu didn’t believe it.
It was just too much of a coincidence that the divorce and Qin Xiaotian’s appearance happened at the same time.
On the other hand, there was the matter of their daughter.
Ling Hanyu also realized that Song Qingtian’s change of heart was due to her daughter.
When Song Qingtian turned fierce, Ling Hanyu became surprisingly quiet.
He wanted to know: where exactly was he acting like a rascal?
“Nuonuo is still so young—she’s just a little girl. As her father, it’s not right for you to sit with your legs crossed, it’s not right to mindlessly scroll through your phone, and it’s definitely not right to strip off your clothes haphazardly as soon as you walk in. If you keep behaving like this, it’ll influence Nuonuo—she’ll grow up thinking that a man like you is the kind of father or husband she should look for. And when she gets older, she’ll accept someone like you as her husband.”
Ling Hanyu was stunned.
He instinctively thought about how he’d been acting and felt a bit regretful!
With a tight-lipped expression, Ling Hanyu said, “I wasn’t always like this.”
“I know.”
Song Qingtian knew Ling Hanyu wasn’t like this, but she still couldn’t understand why he’d suddenly started acting like a rascal lately.
Still, she couldn’t just sit by and do nothing.
Whatever Ling Hanyu did, she wouldn’t tolerate it—but no one else could ever influence their daughter!
