Chapter 161: The Different Young Madam
Chapter 161: The Different Young Madam
The elevator doors opened, and Ling Hanyu stepped out first.
Song Qingtian followed him out of the elevator, deep in thought.
“How could Ling Hanyu possibly know that the Gouchen Great Emperor is a malevolent deity?”
Someone like him would never be superstitious.
Song Qingtian returned to her office, while Ling Hanyu placed their daughter on the sofa and covered her with his coat.
Ling Nuonuo was sleeping peacefully and adorably, her little hands cradling her tiny face, her little mouth slightly moving.
Song Qingtian closed the door and went over to check on her daughter. Seeing the worried look in Ling Hanyu’s father’s eyes, she waited until he had sat down before approaching him.
“The Gouchen Great Emperor isn’t something that only exists in novels—could it really exist in real life too?”
Song Qingtian was merely testing the waters.
She just found it all very strange.
“I’ve heard of it,” Ling Hanyu said, reluctant to elaborate, so Song Qingtian didn’t press further.
She knew that if Ling Hanyu didn’t want to talk about it, there was no way she could pry even if a knife were held to his throat.
Song Qingtian went over to look at her daughter, then sat down to think about Beichen’s child.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that Beichen wouldn’t give up.
But if he was indeed searching for someone to perform a blood sacrifice, she would never allow it.
Even though Ling Hanyu kept talking about this matter, as long as there was even the slightest possibility, she would not tolerate it.
Ling Hanyu, too, had lost all interest in work and leaned back in his executive chair to rest.
When Song Qingtian looked over at him, he was already closing his eyes and relaxing.
The issue of their daughter had struck a nerve with Ling Hanyu, which was why he was acting this way.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Song Qingtian went to open it, and Secretary Yang was standing outside.
Seeing Song Qingtian, Secretary Yang said, “There’s someone here to see you—those people from earlier.”
Song Qingtian turned to look at Ling Hanyu, who had slowly opened his eyes, his gaze icy and cold.
“Let me handle this,” Song Qingtian said. “You wait for me.”
With that, she walked out the door.
Yang Yifan glanced at Ling Hanyu in the executive chair. Since Ling Hanyu hadn’t given any instructions, it was clear he approved of Song Qingtian dealing with the situation. Yang Yifan turned around and followed Song Qingtian downstairs from the office.
“Where are they?” Song Qingtian asked as they walked.
She had previously worked under that former CEO and learned a lot from him.
At the time, she’d always thought none of those skills would ever be useful, but now she realized they were all put to good use one by one.
Yang Yifan replied, “They’re downstairs.”
“How many people are there?” Song Qingtian asked.
“There aren’t many, but they’ve parked over a dozen cars outside the company.”
“How many people are downstairs?” Song Qingtian asked.
“Three—the kid and the bodyguards we saw earlier—but there’s also an older man there, and he looks like he’s quite important.”
Song Qingtian walked straight down to the lobby, and Yang Yifan promptly told her exactly where they were.
Song Qingtian headed straight toward them. When Beichen spotted her, he hurried forward and bowed respectfully, saying, “Madam.”
