Chapter 212: Ling Hanyu’s Threat
Chapter 212: Ling Hanyu’s Threat
Sure enough, just as Song Qingtian had anticipated.
Song Haichang wasn’t going to let this go so easily. That very night, he filed a lawsuit against Chen Jianxiu—making the whole affair public knowledge.
It seemed he was worried about lacking solid evidence and even more afraid that Chen Jianxiu might silence him by killing someone.
While secretly rallying online supporters to help, Song Haichang also posted various videos, including footage of his own injuries. He’d been smart enough to keep backups of the videos involving Bai Ge and Chen Jianxiu, and now they came in handy.
With the situation already unfolding, these videos were perfectly timed to be used.
Song Qingtian only found out about it after she’d tucked her daughter into bed.
Her phone rang, and the caller begged her for help, asking her to provide stronger evidence.
Song Qingtian slipped into the bathroom and changed her voice: “I don’t want my husband to go to jail—I just want him to come home with me. You can’t do this.”
She spoke as if she really cared about Chen Jianxiu, hoping to convince Song Haichang that she was indeed Chen Jianxiu’s wife.
Song Haichang played along: “I’m not trying to get him locked up; I’m using this to threaten him. The relationship between you and me is actually one of cooperation. If you want your husband back, isn’t it equally in my interest that he stays away? Rest assured—give me all the evidence, and I’ll use it to threaten your husband, making sure he never comes near again. Wouldn’t that kill two birds with one stone?”
Of course, Song Qingtian knew Song Haichang was lying, but that was exactly what she needed.
After all, from the very beginning, this was precisely what she had been aiming for.
After talking for a while longer, Song Qingtian sounded utterly helpless. Sensing a glimmer of hope, Song Haichang pressed on, finally persuading her.
“I do have a video of him throwing you down the stairs at the hospital and beating you, but if I give it to you, won’t he end up in jail if you sue him?”
Song Qingtian looked deeply worried.
Hearing this, Song Haichang was overjoyed and quickly said, “Don’t worry—I’m not that kind of person. Just follow my instructions and hand over the evidence, and I’ll make sure your husband comes back. From then on, there will be no more ties between our families.”
Song Qingtian thought for a long time: “All right, I’ll send them to you—but you have to keep your word, or I won’t stop.”
“Rest assured, I’ll never go back on my promise.”
With that, Song Haichang hung up and muttered under his breath, “What an idiot.”
Smirking, he said, “Chen Jianxiu, you’ve bullied me, but I won’t let you off easy either. Just you wait and see!”
Soon after, Song Haichang’s phone received several videos. He opened them and sure enough, there was footage of Chen Jianxiu furiously beating him—and even throwing him downstairs.
With this evidence, Chen Jianxiu would surely be sent to prison.
Song Haichang didn’t consult Bai Ge, nor did he tell Song Yinyin.
He was willing to do whatever it took for his own sake.
To avoid any further complications, that very night, Chen Jianxiu forcibly abducted Song Haichang’s wife, Bai Ge, and threw her downstairs, beating her until she was disabled. He then posted the video online.
Seeing this, Song Qingtian couldn’t help but smile. At last, Chen Jianxiu was going to be caught.
Only then could she feel truly at ease.
As she stepped out of the bathroom, Song Qingtian planned to get a good night’s sleep. But as soon as she left the room, she saw Ling Hanyu sitting on the bed, head bowed as he read a book propped up against the headboard.
Song Qingtian was surprised: How could he still be awake reading at such a late hour?
“Mr. Ling, why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“You’re calling again to deal with Chen Jianxiu, aren’t you?”
Ling Hanyu didn’t mince words. He casually set the book aside and looked directly at Song Qingtian.
His calm, composed eyes made Song Qingtian feel as though she couldn’t even breathe.
Song Qingtian looked rather embarrassed: “Mr. Ling, how could I possibly…?”
“If you don’t understand, then don’t say another word. You’re so smart—you plan everything step by step, and yet you claim you don’t get it? I think you do understand; you’re just pretending not to.”
Song Qingtian wanted to laugh, but she couldn’t.
Ling Hanyu lay back down: “Come lie down here.”
Song Qingtian glanced at their little daughter in the middle of the bed—she was sleeping so sweetly that Song Qingtian wanted to cuddle her and fall asleep together.
As Song Qingtian walked toward the bed, Ling Hanyu gestured with his chin, signaling her to come over to his side.
Song Qingtian straightened up: “It’s true I plotted against Chen Jianxiu, but he was the one who sent people to harm us—that’s his fault. Nuonuo is still so young; she’s most afraid of being scared, and I don’t want her to be frightened.”
“No matter what you say, once this matter is settled, that’s the end of it. If you pull something like this again, we’ll have to see what happens.”
Ling Hanyu’s words were a blatant threat, and Song Qingtian could hear it clearly.
“I know.”
With that, Song Qingtian prepared to climb into bed. But as she reached for the blanket, the corner slipped from her grasp. Ling Hanyu pointed his chin toward his side, signaling her to move over.
Song Qingtian bit her lower lip—damn it!
