Chapter 234: Shattering the Tranquility
Chapter 234: Shattering the Tranquility
Song Qingtian slept for a few hours, and Ling Hanyu held her for a few hours as well.
A group of people arrived—several lawyers, Secretary Yang, and some legal staff.
Although it had only been a few hours, investigations had already confirmed that this matter had nothing to do with Song Qingtian.
Song Haichang died of a myocardial infarction.
The forensic examiner had already confirmed this.
At the time, Song Qingtian did visit Song Haichang, but there was surveillance footage in the house.
It was also verified that Song Haichang had been feigning madness.
After Song Qingtian left, Song Haichang seemed to have seen someone, but there was no one inside the room—this too has been confirmed.
The suddenness of his death—just a moment when he stopped responding—means it can’t be blamed on Song Qingtian. After she left, Song Haichang’s expression clearly became more composed.
Later, two doctors even came in.
In other words, Song Qingtian has been cleared of suspicion.
“Mr. Ling, you may take Mrs. Ling away now. We’ve confirmed that she is not the murderer.”
The visitor informed Ling Hanyu at the door, and Song Qingtian was awakened.
She opened her eyes and moved away from Ling Hanyu, wiping her eyes.
It took her a long while to realize what had happened, so she didn’t say a word.
Being able to leave is a good thing—does she really have to stay here for the whole New Year?
As soon as she got up, Song Qingtian wanted to leave.
Ling Hanyu pulled her back, and Song Qingtian stopped. Only then did Ling Hanyu take her to sign the papers and leave.
Before leaving, Song Qingtian stood to one side, hands behind her back, wearing a loose coat—Ling Hanyu’s coat, no less.
Overall, apart from looking a bit paler, she seemed perfectly fine.
While signing the papers, Ling Hanyu kept glancing at Song Qingtian.
He’d been anxious all night, yet she acted as if nothing had happened.
All because of her, dozens of people had been stirred up.
And she wasn’t even grateful!
After coming out of the interrogation room, Ling Hanyu looked at Song Qingtian, who was by his side: “Are you feeling unwell?”
Song Qingtian shook her head: “No.”
“Are you hungry?”
“Not really.”
Song Qingtian was just tired—she hadn’t slept well.
Ling Hanyu hesitated for a moment, then got into the car and drove Song Qingtian to Yunhai Pavilion.
If they went home like this, their daughter would inevitably ask questions.
It would be better to go there and freshen up a bit.
Song Qingtian understood what Ling Hanyu meant, so she went to Yunhai Pavilion to take a shower.
But before she entered, she locked the bathroom door.
Ling Hanyu didn’t insist on going in, but he stood by the liquor cabinet, holding a glass and watching, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
When Song Qingtian emerged from the shower, she wrapped herself tightly in a bathrobe.
In weather that’s neither cold nor hot, wearing a winter bathrobe makes you look a bit silly.
Ling Hanyu watched, clutching his glass tighter.
“Don’t you have anything else to wear?”
Ling Hanyu put down his glass and stepped away from the liquor cabinet.
Just as he was about to go find Song Qingtian, she said to him, “I’ll go upstairs and look.”
With that, she turned and walked off—as if she were running away.
Ling Hanyu immediately followed.
One after the other, Song Qingtian felt a headache coming on.
“General Manager Ling, you don’t need to—”
“Call me by my name.”
This wasn’t a suggestion—it was an order.
Song Qingtian nodded: “Okay!”
“Call me!”
Song Qingtian could almost get angry—was she a dog?
Song Qingtian smiled, then suddenly went into the bedroom.
The door closed, and Song Qingtian quickly searched for clothes.
Ling Hanyu stood by the door, trying to open it.
He knew it was locked, and he’d guessed as much.
But when he put his hand on the lock, he started turning it.
Song Qingtian changed quickly; otherwise, if Ling Hanyu had walked in, he would definitely have bumped into her.
“I’m ready.”
The door opened, and Song Qingtian turned around.
The two locked eyes, with Ling Hanyu standing by the door.
Song Qingtian grabbed the bathrobe and headed toward the door, while Ling Hanyu walked in, hands clasped behind his back.
With a click, the door locked.
Song Qingtian nearly rolled her eyes.
How unfair!
“If you don’t take the chance I’m giving you, then don’t blame me.”
Ling Hanyu loosened his collar and walked toward Song Qingtian. Song Qingtian felt embarrassed: “It’s just a name—I’ll call you that.”
Ling Hanyu didn’t say a word, but his eyes seemed to scream: “It’s too late now.”
Song Qingtian hurriedly moved to the side: “We did agree on three rules, remember?”
Ling Hanyu ignored her and kept moving closer.
Song Qingtian grew anxious: “Ling Hanyu!”
Ling Hanyu paused for a moment: “If you told me who you are, maybe I could stop myself.”
As he spoke, Ling Hanyu reached right up to her.
