Chapter 242: A Heart Full of Tenderness
Chapter 242: A Heart Full of Tenderness
Song Qingtian got up early to take her daughter to school.
Ling Nuonuo clutched her little backpack and sat beside Song Qingtian.
She really didn’t want to go to school.
“Mommy… if I don’t go to school, will I still be able to get into the best school?”
Ling Nuonuo’s eyes widened, looking utterly confused.
In fact, she was dying to beg Mommy: Could she please not go to school?
Song Qingtian glanced at Ling Hanyu in the car and picked up her daughter, sitting her on her lap. “Nuonuo, tell Mommy—do you really not want to go to school?”
“Mommy… Nuonuo doesn’t like studying. Nuonuo just wants to be with Mommy.”
Ling Nuonuo slid off Song Qingtian’s lap and leaned against her leg, staring up at Song Qingtian with big, beautiful eyes, looking so forlorn and pitiful.
Song Qingtian gently rubbed her daughter’s little face. “Nuonuo, if you simply don’t want to go to school, then we’ll wait until you do. But if you just want to stay with Mommy, and Mommy happens to have something to attend to right now and can’t be with you all the time, then you’ll have to go home and stay with Aunt Chen. However…”
“However what?”
Hearing that there might be a way out, Ling Nuonuo quickly moved a bit away from Song Qingtian and looked at her intently.
“Studying is something every child has to do. We may skip school, but we must still acquire enough knowledge—and that knowledge doesn’t just magically appear in our heads. It has to be learned slowly, bit by bit, so that we can truly understand and integrate it.”
“As for going to school, actually you don’t learn that much there. You go mainly to play. At your age, playing with others is exactly what matters.”
Ling Nuonuo thought this made sense.
Song Qingtian knew her daughter was timid because she’d repeatedly experienced certain incidents at school.
But these weren’t unique to her; other kids went through similar things too.
Avoidance wasn’t the answer—solving the problem was key.
“Nuonuo, Daddy’s friends are all part of a big social circle, but they’re all people just like him. Mommy doesn’t have many friends, but the people in my circle are all like me. And as for you… you need to have your own circle—that’s only natural. We can choose not to study, but we can’t choose not to live. Playing is part of life, too.”
“Oh!”
Ling Nuonuo nodded, as if she sort of understood.
“So, Nuonuo… whether you go to school or not, Mommy respects your decision.”
Ling Nuonuo thought for a long time. “Mommy, if no one likes me at school, then I’ll still go tomorrow. But if someone does… can I skip school tomorrow?”
Ling Nuonuo wore an endearingly pleading expression, and Song Qingtian nodded. “Okay!”
“Mommy… Nuonuo loves you!”
Ling Nuonuo hurriedly hugged Song Qingtian, overjoyed.
For a moment, Song Qingtian felt deeply pained as she held her daughter in her arms.
Why did her daughter keep running into these kinds of situations?
If this kept up, it would put tremendous pressure on her.
Her daughter was still so young—there was no rush to start school yet.
Song Qingtian thought: If today her daughter still didn’t want to go to school, then maybe they should just skip it for now.
When they reached the school entrance, Song Qingtian handed her daughter over to the teacher and watched her go inside before getting back in the car and leaving with Ling Hanyu.
Song Qingtian couldn’t feel happy at all; she even felt a bit regretful as she looked out the window.
Should she bring her daughter back?
She was still so little!
“It’ll be fine,” Ling Hanyu said as he drove.
Song Qingtian decided to trust him—her daughter would be okay.
Actually, Song Qingtian had planned to do something else today, but in the end she didn’t get around to it at all and arrived at the school gate at two o’clock to pick up her daughter.
When Ling Hanyu returned from a meeting, his office was empty.
Seeing no one there, Ling Hanyu called Song Qingtian.
“Where are you?”
“I’m waiting for Nuonuo.”
Song Qingtian spent the whole day distracted, unable to focus on any documents.
Her daughter didn’t want to go to school, and although she firmly believed that keeping her at school was the best choice, the thought of sending such a young child to kindergarten—where she’d feel abandoned, left alone and surrounded by fear and worry—filled her with guilt.
She was completely consumed by guilt.
She was just so distracted.
Ling Hanyu looked helpless. “Then why did you leave without saying a word? Nuonuo isn’t as fragile as you think. I’ve already talked to the teacher this time, and she’ll help out.”
“I’m already here. Mr. Ling, you still have things to do—go ahead and get busy.”
Song Qingtian hung up the phone and headed to pick up her daughter.
Ling Nuonuo came out with the teacher and immediately rushed over to Song Qingtian.
As soon as Song Qingtian picked her up, she almost burst into tears.
The teacher was clearly taken aback.
Ling Nuonuo waved goodbye to the teacher, still in high spirits—she hadn’t had her fill of fun yet.
Song Qingtian could only shake her head, feeling overwhelmed by her own overflowing tenderness.
“Nuonuo, how about Mommy takes you out for some delicious food?”
“Sounds great!”
Ling Nuonuo loved nothing more than eating, drinking, and having fun with Mommy.
So Song Qingtian took her daughter out for a tasty meal.
But little did she know she’d run into Shen Conghao!
