Chapter 263: Outwitting Bai Ge
Chapter 263: Outwitting Bai Ge
Song Qingtian’s car was parked not far away. She had originally planned to head home, but she worried about being followed, so she took extra precautions.
Sure enough, she spotted a hidden vehicle.
It was Bai Ge’s car—Song Qingtian recognized it at once.
Song Qingtian concealed her own car and went to find Bai Ge.
Bai Ge was lurking outside the Yunhai Pavilion, keeping a close watch.
Song Qingtian’s expression darkened slightly—had Bai Ge spotted her?
Song Qingtian called Aunt Chen: “Aunt Chen, what are you doing?”
“Aunt Chen said, ‘I just cleaned up a bit of trash, and Miss is watching cartoons.’”
“Aunt Chen, listen to me—someone’s spying on the Yunhai Pavilion. I don’t know whether she came here on her own or is following you.”
“Madam, I…”
“Aunt Chen, listen to me…”
“Yes.”
“Here’s what you do: bag up all the trash, put it in the suitcase you brought with you, and sneak out of the villa as if you were stealing something—just to fool them.”
“I understand, Madam. But what about Miss…?”
“Put Nuonuo in the toy room on the first floor—that’s a special room my parents prepared just for her. It’s very safe. I’ll stay outside; as soon as you leave, I’ll head back. Leave your phone with Nuonuo so we can keep in touch. The hard part is that you’ll have to drag the suitcase back to the villa and make it look like you’re stealing something when people outside see you.”
“Okay, I got it.”
Aunt Chen handed the phone to Nuonuo and picked her up, carrying her over to the playroom.
Song Qingtian explained everything clearly to her daughter, and Ling Nuonuo eagerly promised, “Mommy, don’t worry—I’ll wait for you patiently.”
“That’s great.”
Ling Nuonuo looked at Aunt Chen and said, “Good luck!”
“I know, Nuonuo… Don’t come out.”
“I know.”
Ling Nuonuo quickly sat down and started playing. Her phone was still on.
Meanwhile, Aunt Chen swiftly packed the trash into her suitcase, then tiptoed out of the villa with the luggage in hand.
Bai Ge watched Aunt Chen leave and followed her.
Only after Bai Ge had gone did Song Qingtian drive back home.
As soon as she entered the house, Song Qingtian hurried to check on her daughter.
Sure enough, Ling Nuonuo was sitting on a soft cushion, quietly building with blocks and waiting for her.
Song Qingtian scooped up her daughter and went to adjust the surveillance cameras.
She couldn’t be sure whether anyone would show up again, so she had to be fully prepared.
Once the cameras were properly set up, Song Qingtian installed the system on her phone, so no matter where she was, she could always see if anyone was hanging around the Yunhai Pavilion.
With all this done, Song Qingtian received a call from Aunt Chen.
“Madam, I’m back now.”
Aunt Chen was using the landline at home.
Song Qingtian said, “Don’t leave the house just yet. Hang around for a bit and take another look at the camera to see if she’s still there.”
“Okay!”
Aunt Chen quickly checked the video feed and reported back to Song Qingtian as soon as she saw that the person was still there.
Song Qingtian told Aunt Chen, “Aunt Chen, I’ll be over in a little while. Just wait a moment—once I get there, I’ll contact you. Then go out and buy some groceries before heading back to the villa.”
“Alright.”
Not long after, Song Qingtian arrived, and Aunt Chen headed out to do the shopping.
Bai Ge followed Aunt Chen, and Song Qingtian followed Bai Ge.
Aunt Chen went about her usual routine—buying groceries and then returning to the villa—while Bai Ge kept close behind until finally leaving.
Only after Bai Ge had gone did Song Qingtian call Aunt Chen and bring her back.
Aunt Chen said in the car, “That scared me half to death!”
“It’s okay, Aunt Chen. This kind of thing will happen often from now on, so just stay extra vigilant.”
Aunt Chen looked at Song Qingtian with mixed emotions: “Madam, it’s all my fault!”
“Nonsense! If no one had been plotting something sinister, none of this would’ve happened,” Song Qingtian said with a smile.
“It was my carelessness,” Aunt Chen admitted, feeling deeply guilty.
Song Qingtian drove over to pick up Aunt Chen and brought her back home.
Back at the villa, Ling Nuonuo was busy making clay figurines.
Both mother and daughter were getting a bit sleepy. When they saw Song Qingtian yawn, Ling Nuonuo got up from the floor, stretched her little arms, and Song Qingtian quickly scooped her up.
She cradled her daughter gently and patted her back.
Ling Nuonuo nestled against Song Qingtian’s chest, her little face pressed against Song Qingtian’s shoulder, and she let out a yawn.
Her tiny arms wrapped around Song Qingtian, and as she gazed at Aunt Chen, she gradually drifted off to sleep.
Song Qingtian carried her daughter downstairs and called out to Aunt Chen.
“Aunt Chen, I’d like to discuss something with you.”
“Aunt Chen, I…”
“It’s okay—you’re like family to me, so of course I want to talk to you. Aunt Chen… I think we should hire someone, but someone reliable. Do you have anyone suitable in mind?”
Aunt Chen hesitated for a moment, then thought of someone.
