Chapter 293: Long Time No See

Father Song suddenly passed away, a shock that Song Qingtian could hardly accept at first.

But soon after, his body was taken to the funeral home.

Right up until the cremation, Song Qingtian remained in a daze.

Ling Hanyu helped arrange the ashes, but then he simply scattered them into the sea.

Song Qingtian looked at Ling Hanyu and said, “I want to buy a burial plot—why did you…”

“Why not?”

Without any explanation, Ling Hanyu acted as he pleased.

Song Qingtian still couldn’t come to terms with Father Song’s passing, yet Ling Hanyu took decisive action.

A few days later, all arrangements for Father Song’s funeral were completed.

While Song Qingtian was still grieving, Ling Hanyu had already begun selling off all their assets.

Song Qingtian wore an unhappy expression; she wasn’t willing to go along with it.

But Ling Hanyu had already hired a real estate agent to handle the sale of two properties—one for Song Qingtian and one for Father Song—though the process turned out to be rather complicated.

Half a month after leaving Beijing, Ling Hanyu sold the houses and completed all the necessary paperwork.

All the money was gathered, and they even found the box Father Song had left behind. Inside, not only was there a note indicating where to collect a sum of money, but also some jewelry Father Song had bought—small items carefully saved over the years, which Song Qingtian loved very much.

Yet there was one thing that hadn’t been left behind: everything had been converted into cash by Ling Hanyu and donated to charity in Song Qingtian’s name.

Song Qingtian grieved for a day, but the next day it was as if nothing had happened at all.

Ling Hanyu leaned against the side, watching Song Qingtian look as though all her past memories had simply blown away with the wind.

“You’re awfully cold-hearted—so ruthless that you’d even give up the dowry your father-in-law left you. Who knows what you’ll do in the future?”

“It’s as if I sold my own dowry! But didn’t you say that the dowry my father left me is actually yours? After you sold it, when you go to the other world, you’ll still buy it back for me exactly as it was. So why is it suddenly my fault now?”

Song Qingtian said coldly, “Mr. Ling… do you know what I hate most about you?”

Ling Hanyu knew it wouldn’t be pleasant, but he couldn’t help asking, “What is it?”

“You act like a whore and still want to put up a good show!”

“Ms. Song…”

Ling Hanyu grabbed her and bit down hard on her shoulder.

Song Qingtian’s fists ached from punching him.

When he let go, Song Qingtian shot him a scornful look, but Ling Hanyu wrapped his arms around her.

Regaining his composure, Ling Hanyu said, “I’ll make it up to you when we get back!”

Song Qingtian snorted.

She felt reluctant to part with it, but there was nothing she could take along.

Ling Hanyu could tell she just didn’t want to show how upset she was.

He kissed her lightly and said, “We’re heading back.”

Song Qingtian looked at Ling Hanyu and said, “Even if we have to leave, does it really have to be so soon? Do you think sleeping on the streets right now is such a great idea?”

“We’ll stay at a hotel.”

Song Qingtian stared at Ling Hanyu as if he were some kind of monster—selling their house and then going to stay in a hotel.

Still, Song Qingtian wondered how Ling Hanyu planned to get back.

With half a month wasted, so much could happen in that time—maybe their daughter would even have grown up by then.

As Song Qingtian and Ling Hanyu headed toward the hotel and were about to enter, they saw a Maybach slowly pull up in front of them.

Song Qingtian thought it odd—was this gentleman driving such a fancy car just to deliberately provoke Ling Hanyu?

No one inside the car moved for a long while, so Song Qingtian tugged on Ling Hanyu’s arm and said, “Let’s go.”

But Ling Hanyu instead gently pulled Song Qingtian’s hand down, staring coldly—and with a hint of disdain—at the Maybach.

Song Qingtian asked, “Haven’t you ever seen a car before?”

“I’ve never seen anyone riding in your ex-boyfriend’s car.”

Song Qingtian was unaccustomed to Ling Hanyu’s cold demeanor, but what bothered her even more was what he said.

“Who are you talking about?”

“Whoever you hear—it’s who I’m talking about.”

Ling Hanyu stood with his hands clasped behind his back, leaning casually against the railing like an emperor, exuding an air of calm and composure.

Yet Song Qingtian couldn’t shake the feeling that she was facing a formidable opponent.

“What are you talking nonsense about?”

Ling Hanyu no longer paid any attention to Song Qingtian; he just kept staring at the Maybach.

Song Qingtian, meanwhile, watched the car with growing concern, a bad premonition settling in.

But her feelings were mixed.

She hadn’t seen Qin Xiaotian in years—could it be that fate was being kind enough to let them meet one last time before she left?

The car door opened, and a man in black stepped out.

The moment Song Qingtian saw Qin Xiaotian, she froze in place.

Ling Hanyu glanced at Song Qingtian and said, “You’ve never seen a man before?”

Ling Hanyu lowered his voice so only Song Qingtian could hear, but she had already forgotten all that—she couldn’t speak or react at all.

She just stared blankly at Qin Xiaotian.

Qin Xiaotian now looked exactly like Qin Xiaotian—the same person.

“Long time no see!”
