Chapter 308: A Good Father
Chapter 308: A Good Father
Song Qingtian watched Ling Hanyu’s unstoppable figure until he stepped inside the door, then she turned to look at Shen Conghao.
With a determined step, Song Qingtian went to find Shen Conghao.
“Mr. Shen!”
Shen Conghao looked at Song Qingtian: “When did you two become so close that you can’t even have a bit of private space? Everyone says you never won Ling Hanyu’s favor—after three years of marriage, you’ve been left all alone; and when your parents were still around, they treated you terribly. But now that they’re gone, suddenly you’ve changed your mind?”
Shen Conghao was filled with resentment. He had thought he still had a chance.
Song Qingtian thought for a moment: “We have a daughter.”
“So what?” Shen Conghao retorted.
Shen Conghao walked away from the car: “I like you.”
“So having a daughter with Ling Hanyu isn’t good enough? But I don’t feel anything for you. As for Ling Hanyu… I like him!”
After saying this, Song Qingtian sidestepped Shen Conghao and walked away.
It took Shen Conghao a long while before he finally turned around: “Hey!”
Song Qingtian turned back: “Yes?”
“Is there still any possibility—just the slightest bit?”
Song Qingtian smiled: “No!”
With that, Song Qingtian turned and walked off, and Shen Conghao suddenly burst into laughter.
What a cold-hearted woman!
But he loved exactly this kind of cold-heartedness. She knew exactly what she wanted.
Shen Conghao kept watching as Song Qingtian entered the building, only then lighting up a cigarette outside.
He tossed the cigarette butt to the ground, opened the car door, got in, started the engine, and drove off.
That very day, Shen Conghao bought a plane ticket.
When Song Qingtian walked in, Ling Hanyu and his daughter were already downstairs.
Song Qingtian looked at Ling Hanyu and his daughter, as well as Yang Yifan waiting nearby.
This scene was hardly something to be ashamed of.
There were so many people downstairs, and both father and daughter were staring right at her from the doorway.
No one would laugh at them, either.
Especially the daughter, Ling Nuonuo—Song Qingtian spotted her from afar, little hands pressed against the glass, eyes wide open, staring straight at her.
Song Qingtian hadn’t done anything special; if she had, how could she ever face people again?
She gave the father and daughter a casual glance and asked, “Are you waiting for me?”
“Are we waiting for the queen or something?”
Ling Hanyu bent down to pick up his daughter and glanced at Song Qingtian: “We’ve got a meeting later. Are you going to the meeting, or are you handling Secretary Yang’s affairs?”
“I’ll go to the meeting.”
Song Qingtian didn’t understand how one could make money by filing lawsuits; even if she went, it wouldn’t do any good. Besides, meetings were easy—just sit there.
Ling Hanyu turned and stepped into the elevator, and Song Qingtian followed.
As the elevator doors closed, chatter broke out downstairs:
“Boss Ling has returned with his wife—truly, adversity reveals true feelings.”
Previously, people had said their relationship was merely superficial; now it seemed their bond was stronger than gold.
In an instant, Song Qingtian and Ling Hanyu became the company’s model couple.
Song Qingtian stepped out of the elevator and glanced at Ling Hanyu and his daughter.
Ling Nuonuo sat on Ling Hanyu’s shoulders, one tiny hand wrapped around his face.
Ling Hanyu’s hand rested gently on his daughter’s bottom.
Her little bottom sat securely on his shoulders, swaying slightly as her tiny feet kicked.
Song Qingtian looked at the father and daughter: “Are you going to the police station later, too, with Nuonuo?”
Ling Nuonuo was busy turning her head to look at Song Qingtian, as if worried she wouldn’t be allowed to go.
Ling Hanyu, however, said calmly: “You can’t even take care of yourself—how can you bring your daughter along?”
Song Qingtian frowned slightly: “Who are you looking down on?”
Ling Hanyu didn’t dare push further.
He’d pretty much figured out Song Qingtian’s temper—better not to provoke her.
Ling Hanyu stayed silent, and Song Qingtian looked at her daughter: “Be good when you go out with Daddy, carry your bag, and tell Daddy if you’re scared!”
“Mm.”
Ling Nuonuo obediently agreed, then remembered something and told Song Qingtian: “Mommy, Grandma made me steamed buns!”
“Okay, take them with you.”
Song Qingtian knew her daughter was a big snack lover.
Mention steamed buns, and she’d want to take them along.
Well, she knew…
Back in the office, Ling Nuonuo pulled out her lunchbox, eager to eat the buns.
“Mommy, I’m hungry!”
Ling Nuonuo tugged at Song Qingtian’s sleeve, looking utterly sweet.
Song Qingtian looked at her daughter, puzzled: “Didn’t you just have breakfast?”
“No, I’m still not full!”
Ling Nuonuo sure knew how to act cute now.
She wanted meat-filled buns.
Song Qingtian asked, “How about just one?”
“Mm.”
Song Qingtian took out the buns, packed them in a paper bag, and Ling Nuonuo put on her special gloves.
Two little hands held the bun and ate it.
Ling Hanyu watched his daughter take small bites, preparing everything she might need: buns, a baby bottle, fruit, tissues, and a few other little toys.
Once everything was ready, he picked up the bag, lifted his daughter, and they left together.
Ling Nuonuo found it hard to eat comfortably, so they headed downstairs.
Out of the elevator, they went straight to the cafeteria and sat down, eating bite by bite.
Then they washed their hands and wiped their mouths.
Ling Hanyu stood up and took his daughter away.
Downstairs at the company, everyone was stunned!
Boss Ling really is a great father!
