Chapter 53: The Low-Key Second Young Master of the Gu Family
Ling Hanyu’s face was deathly pale, and the anger welling up in his eyes was almost ready to erupt.
“What do you mean by ‘contraception’?” Song Qingtian said calmly, then popped two pills into her mouth and washed them down with a sip of water.
“Since we’re both ready to get a divorce, of course we should take the necessary precautions,” she said as she twisted the cap on the bottle. Upon hearing this, Ling Hanyu’s expression grew even worse.
“Very well,” he said, then slammed his foot down on the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like an arrow released from a bow. Song Qingtian quickly grabbed the seat for support, inwardly cursing Ling Hanyu as the ever-unpredictable dog of a man he was.
They soon arrived at Gu Yiran’s clinic. All the way there, Song Qingtian kept mentally preparing herself, wondering how she should phrase things later to reveal her darker side.
After getting out of the car, Ling Hanyu strode straight into the counseling room with a cold, stern expression. Song Qingtian rolled her eyes at him and kept a good distance as she followed behind.
As soon as Song Qingtian walked in, she noticed the receptionist looking at Ling Hanyu with a shy, demure expression, guiding him through the paperwork. But when she saw Song Qingtian enter, the look on her face instantly turned sympathetic, and she quickly lowered her fervent gaze toward Ling Hanyu.
Song Qingtian sat down right away in the waiting area, making sure not to get anywhere near Ling Hanyu.
The receptionist thought to herself that the tension between these two must be pretty intense—no wonder the woman had come to see Dr. Gu for counseling; it really wasn’t any ordinary woman who could handle being the partner of such a successful man.
The atmosphere between them was so bad that the woman probably wasn’t just suffering from early-morning stress—she might even be depressed.
After Ling Hanyu finished filling out the forms, the receptionist took one look and walked over to Song Qingtian.
“Hello, Ms. Song. Please follow me,” she said. As soon as Song Qingtian stood up, Ling Hanyu came over too, and the receptionist gave him an apologetic glance.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Ling. Our counseling sessions are confidential, and family members aren’t allowed to listen in.”
Upon hearing this, Song Qingtian’s expression changed. If Ling Hanyu wasn’t allowed to listen, how was she supposed to play her part later? It would all have been for nothing!
No way!
“It’s fine. There are no secrets between husband and wife, so I don’t mind him listening.”
“If Ms. Song doesn’t mind, then there’s no problem. Mr. Ling, please come along,” the receptionist said.
Song Qingtian immediately followed the receptionist into Gu Yiran’s office. As soon as she stepped inside, she was greeted by Gu Yiran’s stunningly handsome face, and all the irritation she’d felt on the way because of Ling Hanyu vanished in an instant.
Since Ling Hanyu had come in with her, he naturally caught sight of Song Qingtian’s infatuated expression. He realized that he’d been right all along when Yang Xiu had shown him pictures of Gu Yiran—that he should have insisted on replacing Gu Yiran instead of giving in later just because Gu Yiran happened to be an authority on women’s psychology.
Just as he was about to step forward, the receptionist once again blocked his path.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Ling. If you insist on staying to listen, please don’t disturb Dr. Gu and Ms. Song. Why don’t you wait over here?” she said, pointing to the curtain on the south side of the office and indicating that Ling Hanyu should go behind it to wait. Ling Hanyu walked over there with a cold, stony expression.
Gu Yiran acted as if he’d never even seen Ling Hanyu before. He smiled warmly at Song Qingtian—a smile so infectious that it made people feel safe and helped calm their minds.
Song Qingtian thought to herself, Could this be the magic of a top-notch psychological counselor?
“Hello, Miss Song. I’m Gu Yiran. From now on, all my time is yours.”
