Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Qin Qinxi raised her head.
Down below, those lewd, contorted faces were all staring at her.
Some were laughing, some were whispering to each other, and some were leaning forward, trying to get a better look.
She had never seen such looks before.
It wasn’t looking at a person, or at an item—it was looking at something else. She didn’t know what.
All she knew was that those eyes were licking over her body, from her face down to her neck, right to the spot where the red rope was tied.
The Auctioneer stepped closer to her. He circled her once, saying as he went, “Yes, doctor. Not a nurse. Not a volunteer. A real doctor.”
He stopped and spread his arms toward the audience: “You know what that means, gentlemen?”
He lowered his voice and made a secretive expression: “She knows how to handle... emergencies.”
A burst of laughter erupted from the crowd.
Qin Qinxi understood exactly what that laughter meant.
The Auctioneer was using vulgar language.
This wasn’t about first aid or resuscitation—it was something else.
It was the kind of emergency that those perverted men in the audience had in mind.
Qin Qinxi’s face burned with shame.
But she didn’t dare move. She didn’t dare hide. She could only stand there, letting the laughter roll right over her.
The Auctioneer stepped back to the edge of the stage and picked up the card again.
He glanced down at it, raised an eyebrow, and flashed that exaggerated smile at the audience.
“Status—”
He deliberately paused, letting the word hang in the air.
“—untouched.”
A low murmur rippled through the crowd.
Some people pushed forward. Some raised their glasses. Some had already begun reaching for their wallets.
Qin Qinxi’s gaze swept across those perverted faces.
One by one. Greasy. Excited. Some were balding, some had potbellies, and some were even older than her father.
They sat there as if waiting for a dish to be served.
Suddenly, she felt like throwing up.
But she held herself together.
Being sold would at least mean she’d stay alive.
As long as she was alive, there would still be a chance.
Her parents had only her as their daughter. They were getting old and still waiting for her at home.
No matter what, she had to stay alive—and come back alive.
The bidding began.
“Five thousand five!”
“Six thousand!”
“Six thousand eight!”
The numbers kept climbing.
Qin Qinxi couldn’t make out exactly what those figures meant, but she could hear the excitement in the voices.
It was like a pack of dogs fighting over a bone.
“Seven thousand five!”
“Eight thousand!”
“Nine thousand—”
Her price quickly surpassed ten thousand.
Then twenty thousand. Thirty thousand. Fifty thousand.
Qin Qinxi stood there, listening as the numbers kept going up.
She had no idea how much she was being bid for.
All she knew was that every time the numbers rose, the eyes in the audience lit up a little more.
Some people started taking photos with their phones.
The flash blinded her, and she instinctively wanted to dodge, but she didn’t dare.
The training had said not to dodge.
She just stood there, letting them take pictures.
Until when? Until someone bought her.
“Eighteen thousand!”
“Twenty thousand!”
The price kept rising.
Qin Qinxi couldn’t make sense of the numbers anymore.
All she heard was the growing excitement in the voices, like a pack of dogs with bloodshot eyes.
And then she heard a number—
“Two million!”
The crowd fell silent for a moment.
Then came an even louder uproar.
Some people clapped. Some whistled. Some stood up, trying to see who had made the bid.
Two million dollars.
Qin Qinxi didn’t know what that figure meant. But she saw the Auctioneer’s expression change.
