Chapter 60: Chapter 60

They probably didn’t finish until it got dark.

Qin Qinxi was already drenched in sweat, her hair plastered to her forehead with moisture.

The muscles on the inside of the girl’s legs ached so badly that they trembled, even affecting the way she walked.

She took a shower in the private changing room and changed back into the outfit she’d worn when she arrived.

On the way back, Qin Qinxi leaned against the car window, watching as the sky outside shifted from deep blue to ink-black.

Streetlights lit up one by one, casting streaks of orange-yellow light across the glass.

She was so tired she didn’t want to speak, her eyes half-open, half-closed.

Suddenly, the car slowed down.

She opened her eyes and looked ahead.

There was another group of people blocking the road.

This time it wasn’t just one person—it was a line of them.

They stood in the middle of the road, shoulder to shoulder, dressed in dark suits and ties, their hands hanging at their sides, standing perfectly straight like a human wall.

Several black sedans were parked behind them.

Qin Qinxi’s eyes widened, and her drowsiness vanished in an instant.

She instinctively turned to look at Vio Mansello.

He was still leaning back in his seat, eyes closed, as if he hadn’t noticed anything at all.

A vague sense of unease suddenly welled up in her heart.

His car was bulletproof, yet someone had managed to track his route so easily—didn’t he think it was dangerous?

This was already the second time today.

The first time was that Rolls-Royce that had been横在路中间, knocking a person flying; now there was another line of people.

Was his whereabouts really that transparent? Could anyone who wanted to block him just do it? She couldn’t understand.

All she felt was something was off.

These people were only blocking the road—they weren’t armed, they weren’t trying to attack, and they weren’t even shouting.

They just stood there, as if waiting for something.

“Stop the car,” Vio said.

His voice wasn’t loud, but in the quiet cabin it sounded especially clear.

The car came to a halt.

The engine didn’t shut off; it rumbled softly.

Vio showed no sign of getting out.

He rolled down the window halfway, reached into his pocket, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, put one between his lips, and then took out the white lighter.

He flicked the wheel, and a flame shot up.

He took a puff, and the smoke drifted out through the gap in the window, dispersing in the night breeze.

Someone stepped out of the car across the street.

Qin Qinxi recognized him—he was the one who’d been knocked flying that afternoon.

His neck was wrapped in a cast, his left arm was slung across his chest, and his right leg was also in a cast. He leaned on an axillary crutch and walked over step by step.

His assistant was by his side, supporting him; they moved very slowly, each step carefully, as if afraid of breaking any of his bones.

Da Shao walked up to Vio’s window and stopped.

Vio took a puff of his cigarette and blew the smoke toward Da Shao’s face.

The smoke billowed over Da Shao’s face, spreading out and blurring his features.

Da Shao didn’t move or frown; he just stood there, letting the smoke drift past his face.

Da Shao glanced into the car.

His gaze left Vio’s face and swept across the interior before settling on Qin Qinxi.

When it landed on her face, Da Shao’s pupils dilated slightly.

He withdrew his gaze, looked back at Vio, and sighed.

“Is this your sister?” Da Shao’s voice was a bit hoarse, as if his throat had been injured.

Qin Qinxi froze. Sister?

Vio let out a scornful laugh and finally turned his head to look at him.

“What does that have to do with you?”

Da Shao’s gaze swept across the car again, landing on Qin Qinxi’s face for a second before moving on.

“Don’t tell me she’s your girlfriend.”

His tone wasn’t accusatory; it sounded more like he was confirming something.

Qin Qinxi saw a complex expression on his face.

Vio spoke in a low, matter-of-fact tone, laced with his usual impatience.

“What do you want from me?” He frowned slightly, his voice growing colder.
