Chapter 66: Chapter 66
The broker provided a detailed island data package and spent nearly two hours in the conference room, presenting it on the projector.
From geological structure to climate data, from vegetation cover to the depth of the surrounding waters—no detail was overlooked.
Even a list was compiled of the bird species inhabiting the island.
In the afternoon, Vio arranged for a helicopter tour of the island.
The helicopter took off from Qubai and flew southeast for about forty minutes.
The island isn’t large; seen from above, it looks like an emerald dropped into the sea, surrounded by white sandy beaches and lush greenery in the center.
The broker sat across from Vio, continuing his explanation.
“The beach here is suitable for building a pier, that high ground over there is ideal for the main house, and the west side has calmer waves, so a private dock could be built there.”
Vio leaned against the window, gazing at the island below without saying a word.
Behind him, Bali and Tuxi exchanged a glance.
“Boss wants to buy a private island?”
“Could it be that Boss is planning to build another private prison here?”
But judging by Boss’s expression, that didn’t seem likely.
“Could it be for that woman?”
If Boss were to buy this island, he’d have to spend at least half of his wealth.
“Next week’s auction, right?” Vio asked the broker.
“Yes, yes, Mr. Mansero,” the broker replied, bowing slightly as he handed over a document. “The auction is scheduled for Wednesday morning.”
Vio took the document without looking at it and passed it to Bali.
Bali caught it and tucked it under his arm.
The helicopter lifted off and headed back. Vio leaned against the window, staring out.
The sea stretched out beneath them, boundless and endless, like a giant mirror reflecting the blue of the sky and the white of the clouds.
Besides supporting all these subordinates, now he also had to support a little mouse.
It was at that very moment that another thought occurred to Vio.
The business he was currently engaged in wasn’t only risky—it barely turned any profit either.
He planned to fight for the family inheritance. He wanted to become the heir and take control of the entire Mansello clan.
Then, buying several islands for the little mouse would be no problem at all.
That night, Vio had nothing else to do, so he checked into a hotel.
He tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep, and glanced at the wall clock.
Nine o’clock.
He pulled the blanket over his head and closed his eyes, but all he could think of was Qin Qinxi.
He wondered whether that bracelet would suit her, whether it would really complement her.
It had cost him nearly one hundred million US dollars.
The original source of the materials for that bracelet had long since been exhausted, and what was circulating on the market was all recycled stock.
It had taken him tremendous effort to get his hands on it.
Vio felt suffocated. He sat up in bed and looked at the clock.
After sitting there for a while, he finally got out of bed and dressed.
Downstairs, Bali, who was on guard at the entrance, was dozing off.
As soon as he heard the familiar sound of footsteps, he snapped awake, jerked his head up, and looked behind him.
It really was Boss.
Vio walked at a steady pace, heading straight for the garage.
“Back to Jumeirah,” he said without turning around, his voice slightly scattered in the night breeze.
Bali hurriedly ran after him, “Yes!”
As he ran, he pulled out his phone and sent a message to the bodyguards in the following convoy.
One after another, the cars started up, their headlights lighting up and forming a ribbon of light in the darkness.
After applying the medicine, Qin Qinxi had intended to go to sleep, but she couldn’t fall asleep no matter how hard she tried.
She glanced at the clock—it was almost eleven o’clock.
The girl lay there for a while, then pulled back the blanket, put on her slippers, and decided to go downstairs for a walk.
Auntie wasn’t asleep.
Every day, she waited until three in the morning before going to bed, just in case Mr. Mansello came back in the middle of the night.
When Maria saw Xixi heading downstairs, she spoke in a very soft voice.
“Why aren’t you asleep yet? Are you hungry and want something to eat? Auntie will make it for you.”
