Chapter 133: Counterattack 59
“Gu Yanxing? Is that you? Are you out of your mind? Following me? Or spying on me?” Jiang Feng’s face instantly darkened. He strode over in a bad mood, slammed the door shut, and then dragged Gu Yanxing to the far end of the room—where it would be hard for anyone to eavesdrop—and snapped, “What are you trying to do? After all these years as friends, is this how you treat me?”
“You know we’ve been friends for years? Then is this how you treat Qian Cheng, too?” Gu Yanxing wrenched himself free from Jiang Feng’s grip and smoothed out his rumpled clothes.
But Jiang Feng turned his back, refusing to look at Gu Yanxing’s face. Instead, he gazed out the window and flatly denied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You really don’t?”
Gu Yanxing wasn’t in a hurry. He stood beside Jiang Feng, studied the latter’s profile, and together they stared out the window, casually tossing off another remark: “But what was that you just shouted? ‘Yue’er’? Which ‘Yue’er’? If I’m not mistaken, it must be the ‘Yue’ from Ming Yue, right?”
“You must have misheard,” Jiang Feng retorted, his face as calm as ever, his denial effortless.
Gu Yanxing curled his lips into a faint smile, calmly pulled out his phone, brought up the voice recording from earlier, and played it for Jiang Feng. The unmistakable word “Yue’er” resounded beautifully throughout the room.
Jiang Feng could no longer deny it.
Yet he still refused to admit that the person he’d called was Ming Yue.
Instead, he chuckled softly. “Why must it be Ming Yue? There are plenty of people named ‘Yue’—Xin Yue, Li Yue, Lan Yue… so many! Why don’t you go investigate how many people in our country have ‘Yue’ in their names? And besides, it could even be a nickname. Why bring up Ming Yue? Aren’t you two friends?”
“You sure are calm—can even lie with such ease,” Gu Yanxing remarked.
Gu Yanxing put away his phone, a faint smile playing on his lips. He didn’t rush to speak; instead, after a long pause, he finally sought a way to break through Jiang Feng’s defenses.
Of course, he didn’t mention the woman who had just left this Private Dining Room: Ming Yue!
Jiang Feng, too, remained unfazed, continuing to leisurely gaze out the window.
After a while, Gu Yanxing asked, “Where have you been these past few days?”
“Had some business at a subsidiary, went to take care of it,” Jiang Feng replied casually.
Gu Yanxing pressed further: “Oh, really? Which subsidiary? Where is it? What’s its name? What exactly happened that required the boss himself to handle it?”
“Mind your own business! Who are you to me anyway?”
“It’s none of your concern.”
“So why ask so many questions then?”
“Isn’t it because Ming Yue disappeared around the same time you did? What a coincidence—your disappearances seem to line up perfectly!”
“Really? I had no idea.”
“You really don’t know?”
“No.”
“Very well. Let me show you something else.”
With a flick of his fingers, Gu Yanxing magically produced another blurry photo of two figures from behind. The two silhouettes were none other than Jiang Feng and Ming Yue—just not very clear.
Jiang Feng glanced at it, pinched a corner of the photo between two fingers, examined it carefully, and then made his assessment: “Not bad, but who are these people? The man’s handsome, the woman’s beautiful—quite a match.”
“You can’t even tell who they are?” Gu Yanxing sneered.
Jiang Feng returned the sneer, but instead of handing the photo back, he slipped it into his pocket and said nonchalantly, “If you can tell, why bother asking me? When did you become so dumb?”
