Chapter 15: Spitting Blood
“Ming Yue, how ruthless you are! Must you resort to such the most cruel means to deal with me? Why didn’t you just kill me outright?”
Fu Qiancheng was defeated and could no longer utter a single word. The throbbing pain in his heart had turned into an excruciating agony; each glance at that tooth mark only made the wrenching pain in his chest grow stronger.
As the pain intensified, he suddenly lost consciousness, collapsing headfirst and body onto Ming Yue, and then let out a guttural retch, spewing blood.
Not only did the blood stain the bedsheet, but it also splattered onto Ming Yue’s little face.
Ming Yue was utterly shocked—she had never expected this at all—and immediately cried out for help, repeatedly calling Fu Qiancheng’s name.
Yet she dared not move him in the slightest, for fear that one wrong move might cost Fu Qiancheng his life.
However, Fu Qiancheng gave absolutely no response.
It was as if he had completely passed out.
The Ming family downstairs had long since heard the commotion.
But they remained unmoved.
It was only when Liu Jia heard Fu Qiancheng’s repeated cries that she grew frantic and hurriedly summoned Ming Xia and the nanny. They then found Fu Qiancheng lying unconscious on top of Ming Yue in the room.
He was already completely unconscious.
Ming Xia and the nanny stood frozen, at a loss as to what to think.
Liu Lai, who had rushed over, also saw the scene.
He muttered under his breath, “Are they fighting in the bedroom like Mom and Dad in broad daylight? Could it be that the ‘star of misfortune’ is so powerful that it has knocked the Fu clan member unconscious?”
Ming Yue rolled her eyes. “Damn you, you little brat—shut your filthy mouth!”
Ming Xia wore a strange expression.
The nanny’s face went pale; her first instinct wasn’t to save anyone, but rather to look for a hole to burrow into, a veil to cover her head, or some magical artifact to make herself invisible.
She quickly shrank to the side, muttering silently, “Don’t see me, don’t see me—I didn’t see anything at all.”
Ming Yue: …
Liu Jia’s face had already turned green.
She glared fiercely at the panicked Ming Yue beneath Fu Qiancheng, unable to contain her emotions any longer. “Ming Yue, you shameless bitch—are you really that impatient? You’re supposed to be Dad’s daughter, the Ming family’s daughter—how could you have sunk so low?”
“If you’ve got time to scold me like this, your Brother Qiancheng will probably be crossing the Bridge of Reincarnation by now! What are you still standing there for? Call an ambulance! Do you want to watch him die?”
Ming Yue tried her best not to move Fu Qiancheng’s body as she growled at Liu Jia.
Only then did Liu Jia snap out of it and quickly dial the emergency number.
Soon, Fu Qiancheng was rushed to the hospital and wheeled into the emergency room.
Outside the ER, Ming Yue and Liu Jia waited for Fu’s parents to arrive in a great hurry.
Fu Yuan and Shen Luochen.
Liu Jia hurried forward, bit her lip, and softly lowered her head to apologize. “Uncle Fu, Aunt Shen, I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault—the incident at home has already been told to me by Lai Lai. Good girl, I really do want to thank you today! Thank you for helping me get Qiancheng to the hospital.”
Shen Luochen’s eyes were filled with tears as she gratefully held Liu Jia’s hand.
Fu Yuan also nodded in thanks.
Neither of them so much as glanced at Ming Yue, who was still standing there, her clothes stained with blood—seemingly oblivious to her presence altogether.
Liu Jia took it all in, and the resentment in her heart finally eased somewhat, but she dared not show even a hint of joy, let alone let the couple before her know that it was she who, right before getting in the car, had ordered her younger brother Liu Lai to call them and say those very words.
She merely shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. “Brother Qiancheng fainted at my house—that’s exactly what I should have done. Uncle and Aunt, you’re being far too polite.”
“Auntie’s speaking from the heart! Good girl, your kind aunt will always remember this,” Shen Luochen said, patting Liu Jia’s hand and forcing a smile.
As for Ming Yue, leaning against the wall, Shen Luochen still refused to look at her.
It wasn’t until Fu Qiancheng was completely out of danger and transferred to a ward for recovery that Shen Luochen finally turned to Ming Yue, who was about to slip away quietly.
