Chapter 171: Counterattack 97

Chapter 171: Counterattack 97

Although Gang Zi hadn’t seen exactly what had happened on Ming Kai’s phone or what message he’d received, he could already guess the general situation just from Ming Kai’s expression.

Anyway, he hadn’t beaten up that kid in a long time lately, so he quickly nodded and replied, “Alright, I promise to get the job done.”

After making the promise, Gang Zi leaned closer to Ming Kai and asked curiously, “Young Master, so that kid… how did he manage to upset you again today? Did he insult you, or did he bully our little Yueyue?”

In fact, Gang Zi had long since treated Ming Yue as his own younger sister. Every word he said was filled with the tender affection and concern of an older brother for his little sister.

“How dare he?” Ming Kai’s anger hadn’t subsided yet. He placed his phone in front of Gang Zi and said angrily, “Take a look for yourself!”

Gang Zi was a bit puzzled but couldn’t resist his curiosity, so he hurriedly bent down to take a look—and there it was, the message Jiang Feng had just sent.

He wasn’t as smart as Ming Kai, nor as sensitive, so at first he didn’t quite grasp the meaning. It wasn’t until he thought about it carefully for a while that he burst out in anger, “What a brat! So this is him openly challenging Young Master? Does that little punk think he can just live however he wants?”

“Things aren’t that simple!” Ming Kai’s fist was still clenched.

Gang Zi, however, asked in confusion, “Young Master, what do you mean by that?”

“Can’t you see it yet?” Ming Kai shook his head. “I don’t understand.”

Ming Kai explained indignantly, “The fact that he dares to provoke me like this means he’s already made some progress with Yueyue. Even if she hasn’t agreed to anything with him, she’s at least somewhat accepting of him.”

“Oh.” Gang Zi suddenly realized, then chewed over those words again. He thought his Young Master’s guess was spot-on, but he still couldn’t understand why his Young Master was so angry. So he asked, “Didn’t you used to say that when it comes to matters of the heart, you feel indebted to Miss Dajia and shouldn’t have interfered so much in her relationship with Fu Qiancheng? That in the future, no matter who Miss Dajia chooses, you won’t interfere anymore?”

“I did say that, but I’m still angry.” After all, that kid’s initial motive for getting close to Yueyue wasn’t pure. The human heart is a deep pool; although over the years he’d tested Jiang Feng in every possible way and had come to recognize both his abilities and his character, seeing them finally end up together still made Ming Kai uneasy.

It wasn’t that he was afraid Jiang Feng would bully Yueyue, or that he was afraid Jiang Feng would betray her—what worried him was that Yueyue might get hurt in love all over again.

But since he couldn’t even handle his own love life, how could he possibly solve such emotional problems? All he could do was feel helpless and angry, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he became!

Gang Zi seemed to finally understand what was making his Young Master so angry, so he pushed the phone back toward him and tentatively asked, “Then where should I focus my attack this time?”

“You can go ahead!” Ming Kai nodded without a second thought, not wanting to dwell on the matter any longer. He then found an excuse to call Li Ci over from a distance.

“You called for me—what’s up?”

Li Ci asked blankly.

Ming Kai shot her a glance and snorted coldly, “What? You’re unhappy? Uncomfortable? Or are you just fed up with me bossing you around like this?”

“No, sir,” Li Ci replied softly, avoiding eye contact with Ming Kai.

Ming Kai, however, narrowed his eyes at her and said, “Is it that you really don’t dare, or that you just don’t want to admit it?”

Li Ci remained expressionless, still refusing to meet Ming Kai’s gaze. “Think whatever you want, guess whatever you want.”
