Chapter 212: Counterattack 139

Lin Xi let out a heavy sigh, making no effort to hide from Xiao Hu how much she missed and worried about that unnamed male operative. She said in a solemn voice:

“What he really lacks is the confidence to face reality—and Yueyue. But there are many things I… dare not say, and I’m not even sure if I can. After all, it’s been many years since I last saw him, and I know absolutely nothing about his situation.

But Jiang Feng is different.

If I’m not mistaken, over these years Jiang Feng has probably been in contact with Ming Kai all along—only both of them have kept it very well hidden, never letting Yueyue find out.”

“Xixi…”

Xiao Hu tightened his grip on Lin Xi’s hand.

Lin Xi merely gave him a faint smile, continuing to rest her hand in his warm palm as he led her forward, all the while talking about these matters—and about Ming Yue’s family, too.

Jiang Feng sat quietly on the living room sofa for a long time, his mind constantly replaying the words Lin Xi had said to him before she left.

As he thought about it, he seemed to have figured something out.

Then, without hesitation, he took out his phone, scrolled to Ming Yue’s number, and called her.

Ming Yue answered almost immediately. On the other end of the line, she asked softly, “What’s wrong?”

“I’ll be back soon. When you’re out on your own, be careful—don’t make me worry,” Jiang Feng said to her in a gentle voice.

Before Ming Yue could reply, he added in a soft whisper, “And, Yue’er, there are some things I’d like to talk to you about properly once you’ve got a bit of free time, okay?”

“What is it? So serious?”

Ming Yue on the other end of the line was clearly taken aback for a moment.

But Jiang Feng just smiled and shook his head, his voice still gentle.

“It’s something really, really important. It’s not the right time to talk about it now, but trust me—I’ll always consider things from your perspective.”

“Why so mysterious? What are you up to? Have you been fooling around outside? Don’t worry—if that’s the case, I won’t hold it against you. If you want, you can just marry her straight away and bring her home; I promise I won’t make a scene or embarrass you at all.”

Ming Yue said half-jokingly.

She knew full well that Jiang Feng was nothing like that at all.

How should one describe him…

He’s definitely not the kind of modest gentleman who remains unmoved by temptation—in fact, in some respects he can be quite… well, let’s just say he’s rather bold. But he would never go around messing around with other women.

On that point, Ming Yue was pretty confident.

Over all the time they’d known each other, he’d hardly ever paid any real attention to other girls—so little, in fact, that you could count the times on one hand, or maybe even say it never happened at all.

But joking around…

Well, that’s another matter—do whatever makes you happy, do whatever’s fun.

Hearing this, Jiang Feng let out a heart-wrenching cry of anguish.

He said angrily into the receiver, “Yue’er, if I ever kick the bucket one day, it’ll definitely be because you drove me to my death! Are you planning to hurry up and kill me so you can inherit my estate? Become a rich lady? Keep a bunch of young studs as your playboys?”

“Hey! Don’t say that! That’s actually a pretty good idea! Once I’ve got some free time, I’ll think it over carefully. And if I manage to drive you to your death, I can use your money to keep seven or eight handsome young guys!”

“Ming Yue!”

“Oh, those abs… when you grab them, they’re so smooth and slippery—every single one of them is packed with muscle, and their faces are as delicate as peeled eggs. Anyway, whatever looks good and pleasing to the eye, that’s what we’ll go for.”

Ming Yue burst out laughing. Far from denying it, she went right along with Jiang Feng’s teasing—and even added a few colorful details.
