Chapter 259: Counterattack 186

The unnamed male operative clearly didn’t much care for that look.

Fortunately, all the doors and windows that needed to be closed were shut, and all the barriers that should have been put up were in place.

With no further inhibitions, he casually swept his long legs, tracing a graceful arc through the air with the hard sole of his shoe. The sole landed precisely on Liu Qingqing’s porcelain-white face, producing a crisp, pleasing sound.

Instantly, a clear imprint of the shoe sole appeared on Liu Qingqing’s delicate face, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of her mouth.

Only then did the man contentedly squint and smile, before looking down at the woman who had been stunned by his kick. “This kick is to teach you that if you’re human, you should learn to treat others like humans. Stop staring at me with those bulging ox-like eyes—it’s really ugly. You weren’t exactly pretty to begin with, and now you’ve added an aura of harshness and vulgarity. With that glare, you’ve become even more repulsive—truly unbearable.”

Having finished speaking, he lazily yawned.

Liu Qingqing was so furious her lungs felt like they’d explode. His words had added a bit more color to her pale, bloodless face—though not red, it had taken on a slightly darker hue.

But the man paid it no mind. He continued idly twirling the hammer in his hand, then turned to Liu Qingqing and said, “Liu Qingqing, aren’t you going to cry out for help? Are you just going to give up like this and let me do whatever I want? That doesn’t sound like the kind of person you are, Liu Qingqing. I thought you’d at least struggle for… ”

As he spoke, the man freed his right hand, rubbed his thumb, index finger, and middle finger together, then slowly resumed, “At least two or three times! How can you give up after just one strike?”

“Even if I struggle, will it do any good? Will my struggling make you spare my life? Will it make you set me free?”

Liu Qingqing forcefully spat out the murky blood clogging her mouth, tilting her head stubbornly as she asked the man, her sorrowful eyes filled not only with resentment but also with something she herself couldn’t quite understand.

The man looked down at her little face and her disheveled state, then suddenly burst into laughter. He shook his head decisively, yet showed no rush to speak. Instead, he expertly played with the cold, deathly-appearing iron hammer in his hand. After a long while, he shook his head again and, in a voice loud enough for both of them to hear, told the woman on the ground, “Of course… no!”

“Then why are you even asking?”

Liu Qingqing gritted her teeth, glaring fiercely at the man who was mocking her.

But the man just smiled mischievously. “Isn’t this fun?”

He gently tapped the sole of his shoe with the hammer, gazing lazily at the woman on the ground as if admiring a beautiful scene. When the scene began to shift ever so slightly, the hammer in his hand seemed to have eyes of its own, leaping without hesitation onto the figure—whether it was simply shifting because its feet had gone numb from sitting too long, or whether it had some other intention and was trying to take advantage of the moment to move. He didn’t apply much force, but the threat was unmistakable.

Then, his voice softly rang out above the woman’s head: “Be good and don’t move around. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee this little thing will stay obedient.”

Just as Liu Qingqing’s thoughts began to stir, that unassuming voice struck straight to the bottom of her despair. Filled with indignation, all she could feel was on the verge of collapse. “What exactly do you want? If you hate me so much, why not just smash me to death with one blow?”

“How unsatisfying would that be? Revenge is about exacting vengeance—there’s an old saying that you should ‘eat their flesh and sleep on their skin.’ Of course you should torture someone however you can! Why would you foolishly kill your enemy with a single blow right off the bat? Then what kind of revenge would that even be?”
