Chapter 30: Chaos and Mayhem

Chapter 30: Chaos and Mayhem

The Ming household was once again in a state of utter chaos.

Nanny Zhao couldn’t help but groan in frustration.

She dared neither to interfere nor to step forward; all she could do was hide herself tightly in the still-repairing kitchen, silently muttering to herself: “Don’t come over! Don’t come over! For heaven’s sake, don’t come over!”

Meanwhile, Ming Yue was deliberately throwing a tantrum, darting around everywhere and constantly provoking Ming Xia, pushing the family into an increasingly unmanageable mess.

Then, just as everyone had let their guard down, she pulled off a masterful move: in the blink of an eye, she swapped the water Liu Jia had been using to make a loving breakfast for her parents.

Of course.

To make the prank even more effective, Ming Yue, in a rare act of kindness, had secretly taken some of the leftover medicine the little girl had hidden away and added it to the same cup of water.

With her goal achieved, Ming Yue stopped the provocation. She stood on the staircase, holding the cup high above her head and pointing it straight at Ming Xia’s face.

“Auntie, I’m tired—let’s call it quits here. But if you refuse to back down, then we might as well go all out and fight until one of us is knocked unconscious. We’ll settle it ourselves—no holding back, no mercy for anyone.”

As she spoke, a fierce glint flashed in her eyes.

Ming Xia felt a chill run down her spine. Suddenly, she lost all desire to chase after Ming Yue and dared not continue the confrontation; instead, she began backing away.

Ming Yue knew this was exactly the outcome she’d been aiming for.

A mere show of strength with no real substance.

Only brave enough to bully those within her own circle.

Out in the world, she’s completely powerless.

And once someone else gets serious, she loses all composure.

What a waste!

So boring!

Ming Yue decided she didn’t want to bother with her anymore. She loosened up, wiped the sweat from her brow, gave the little girl a meaningful glance, picked up the cup in her hand, and drained it in one gulp right in front of her.

The little girl instantly lit up with joy.

Ming Yue quietly wiped away her fingerprints, put the cup back where it belonged, then walked over to the silly girl who was still busily cooking. “Hey, silly girl, really not giving me a single bite?”

“Are you being annoying or what?” Liu Jia shot her a glare.

Ming Yue chuckled. “If there’s food, I’m not annoying. If there isn’t, I might keep pestering you.”

“Get lost, get lost!” Liu Jia snapped.

“I already said—it’s your dad’s specialty; I can’t do it. But if you’re willing to teach me, or persuade your dad to demonstrate himself, I might reluctantly give it a try. Who knows? Maybe someday when I’m broke, I could even use this trick to earn a few steamed buns by putting on a little show.”

Ming Yue didn’t bother lowering her voice.

Her words were loud enough for everyone in the living room to hear—and even Nanny Zhao, who’d been hiding in the kitchen trying to sneak a peek, caught every word. She couldn’t help but chuckle softly, though she quickly clamped her mouth shut again, afraid the Ming family would notice.

Liu Jia was already fed up and refused to respond any further.

Liu Qinxin, on the other hand, was puzzled: What on earth was this crazy woman trying to accomplish? Why was she so fixated on Jiajia today?

As for Ming Shuo, there was no need to even mention it—he was already mortified.

Finally, finding the whole thing rather dull, Ming Yue mercifully stopped pestering Liu Jia. Instead, she deliberately patted her own belly in front of Liu Lai and slowly made her way upstairs.

Of course.

After all, she’d finally done something good and virtuous—surely she wouldn’t let all that effort go to waste.

Back upstairs, Ming Yue opened the bag Gu Yanyun had brought over, took out two snacks, pulled over a chair, sat down by the railing on the second floor, took two small bites, and then asked Liu Jia, who was almost done with her work downstairs: “Silly girl, do you know who that cute young man was this morning?”

No one in the Ming household answered.

Ming Yue wasn’t embarrassed at all; she continued eating as if nothing had happened, her gaze drifting casually over Ming Shuo and Liu Qinxin before turning back to Liu Jia: “His name is Gu Yanyun—he’s the second grandson of the Gu family, the old patriarch’s precious darling.”
