Chapter 4: I Have a Man
Ming Yue’s face darkened.
She struggled frantically, using both her hands and feet, glaring angrily at the unreasonable man. “Fu Qiancheng, have you lost your mind? What are you trying to do? Kidnapping in broad daylight is illegal—let me go right now, or you’ll end up in jail!”
“Go to the Hospital!”
His voice was firm yet gentle, his grip steady, and the redness in his eyes had subsided slightly. With a light kick of his long, slender legs, the door of Ming Yue’s battered car slammed shut, and he turned around, cradling the person in his arms as he walked toward his own vehicle.
No matter how much Ming Yue struggled or resisted, he paid her no heed.
Before long, Fu Qiancheng had strapped her into the backseat with the seatbelt, leaving her with no chance of escape.
Yet for some reason, his large hand felt strangely cold.
After a few seconds of hesitation, one of his hands quietly reached out and gently grasped the stubborn little hand beside it, firmly clenching it in his palm.
The owner of the little hand wore an angry expression, her cheeks puffed out as she tried to break free but couldn’t—left or right, she just couldn’t get away—and finally turned her head away, staring sulkily out the window.
In the driver’s seat, Lao Wu cautiously glanced back at the two in the rear.
Seeing that this long-lost reunion was anything but the tender affection they once shared; instead, it was tense and confrontational, Lao Wu, who knew nothing about what was going on, didn’t dare make a sound.
After all, it wasn’t just anyone.
It was Miss Ming!
It was the Young Master’s Yueyue!
During the years Miss Ming had been missing, others might not know how the Young Master had endured it, but as a loyal lackey who’d always followed him, how could he not?
If he weren’t certain that Miss Ming was still alive, if he couldn’t occasionally catch even the slightest hint of her whereabouts, the Young Master’s life would probably have been over long ago.
And if, at this moment, he accidentally displeased Miss Ming, his very head might be in danger!
“Lao Wu, let’s go to the hospital.”
While Lao Wu was still cautiously sizing up the two in the back, Fu Qiancheng softly gave the order.
Lao Wu replied.
Just as he was about to start the car, Ming Yue, who had been glaring out the window, spoke up before he could.
“Lao Wu, I’m not going to the hospital—I want to go to the supermarket to buy some things. If you dare take me there and disrupt my plans, I’ll settle the score with you!”
“Miss Ming…”
Lao Wu turned his head, looking at Ming Yue with a pitiful expression.
His first thought was how much she’d changed!
Back then, Miss Ming did sometimes lose her temper, but never like this.
He couldn’t quite put his finger on exactly what had changed.
Seeing that Ming Yue was still frowning and glaring out the window, completely ignoring the Young Master, Lao Wu could only shift his gaze slightly, looking helplessly at the Young Master, Fu Qiancheng. “Young…Master…”
“Listen to me. Yueyue is hurt—go to the hospital, right now.”
Fu Qiancheng’s voice grew even firmer, his gaze equally resolute.
Perhaps fearing that Lao Wu wouldn’t obey, Fu Qiancheng added casually:
“You don’t have to listen to me, and I certainly won’t make things difficult for you. But from now on, stop following me, and leave the Fu Family as well.”
Lao Wu: …
This isn’t making things difficult?
Where’s the law anymore?
You two living ancestors refuse to date properly or get married, insisting instead on bickering and making a fool of me, a poor, hardworking employee? Is this really fun?
Heaven above! Are you there?
Why don’t you just show some mercy and strike me down with a bolt of lightning?
I don’t want to live anymore!
Lao Wu muttered under his breath, unwilling to disobey the Young Master but also reluctant to simply ignore Ming Yue’s wishes and drive off with her.
After some hesitation, he finally cast a pitiful look at Ming Yue, who was still turning her face away from Fu Qiancheng, pleading, “Miss Ming…”
“Uncle Wu, could you please go to my car and bring me that small suitcase? I need to buy a few things when we get back from the hospital.”
Ming Yue didn’t make things difficult for Lao Wu; sensing his helplessness and plea, she took the initiative to speak up, easing his predicament. She even changed her form of address from “Lao Wu” to “Uncle Wu.”
Lao Wu breathed a sigh of relief and quickly got out of the car.
But soon he recalled several occasions when Ming Yue had called him “Uncle Wu,” and a sudden wave of unease washed over him, accompanied by a very bad premonition.
Sure enough, before he had even taken a few steps, he heard Ming Yue in the back say softly, “Fu Qiancheng, let go! Our fate has long since run its course—there’s no need to waste any more time on me. To be honest, I already have a man.”
Fu Qiancheng was struck dumb, as if hit by lightning.
