Chapter 82: Counterattack 8
“No, thanks—I’m not hungry.” Liu Jia replied lazily. Though she no longer detested this so-called cousin as much as before, she certainly didn’t care for him either. People you can’t stand will always be hard to stand. What she still liked was Fu Qiancheng.
But as soon as Ming Yue returned, that blind unnamed male operative could no longer see her at all; his eyes and his heart were filled only with that bastard Ming Yue—even while he was hospitalized, he still couldn’t keep himself in check.
“Alright then, I’ll make a little something for Auntie. If you want some, just call me anytime.” Liu Hao seemed completely unconcerned about Liu Jia’s expression. After saying this with a smile, he turned around and went straight over to flatter and curry favor with Old Madam Liu, managing to win over the pampered old lady like a piece of cake.
Soon enough, after carefully considering her options as usual, Old Madam Liu ordered several dishes she’d been craving. Liu Hao not only had no objections—he even cheerfully agreed to each one—before turning around and heading straight into the kitchen nearby.
In no time at all, the whole house was filled with mouthwatering aromas. The dishes were quickly brought to the table, and Liu Hao handed bowls and chopsticks to Old Madam Liu. Overwhelmed by the delightful smells, she couldn’t help but exclaim in praise after taking just two bites.
Liu Lai, who had been summoned down, also ate with great relish, giving Liu Hao a thumbs-up. “Brother Hao, you’re so kind! Compared with that jinx in my family, you’re practically a god from heaven!”
Liu Lai kept shoveling food into his mouth while praising Liu Hao. It seemed like it had been ages since he’d last enjoyed such a happy meal. The reason was simple: it was all because of that extra jinx in the family.
Liu Hao was very pleased with this response. He used a small dish to serve each of them a bit. “Auntie, Lai Lai, why don’t you two start eating first? Once you’re done, just leave the bowls and chopsticks here and I’ll take care of cleaning up. I’ll go bring some food over to Cousin Jiajia.”
“Mm-hmm,” Liu Lai nodded.
But Old Madam Liu said, “Why are you spoiling her so much? If she wants to eat, fine; if not, too bad. Does she really think she’s some precious young lady? If it weren’t for Qin Xin spoiling her, I’d definitely teach her a proper lesson!”
“Auntie, please don’t be mad. Cousin Jiajia is just young—no big deal. Besides, girls should be raised in luxury, shouldn’t they? Don’t hold it against her; let’s all be a little more tolerant. Once she calms down, everything will be fine.”
Liu Hao smiled warmly as he continued serving the food, clearly unfazed by Liu Jia’s attitude. Old Madam Liu sighed and said, “Good boy—you’ve really gone through a lot.”
“How could it be? Being able to come here to take care of you and everyone else is the good fortune I must have accumulated in my past life. I’m the one who should be thanking you, Uncle, and Auntie—where’s the ‘hardship’ in that?”
Every word Liu Hao said was a perfect compliment straight to Old Madam Liu’s heart, making her nod repeatedly and praise him again and again for being so sensible and rare.
With that, Liu Hao finished his task and headed upstairs, carrying the neatly arranged dishes. He stopped outside Liu Jia’s door and gently knocked. A impatient voice came from inside: “Who is it? What do you want?”
“It’s me, Cousin Jiajia. I brought you some food—just grab a bite to tide you over!” Liu Hao’s voice was soft and extremely polite.
Liu Jia’s impatience remained unchanged: “Didn’t I say I’m not hungry? Do you not understand, or what?”
“I know you’re in a bad mood and have no appetite, so besides bringing you some food, I’ve also got a way to help you get even with that crazy Ming Yue—so you can give that lunatic a proper lesson. Would you like to hear about it?” Liu Hao called out from outside the door.
“What kind of way?” the door suddenly swung open, revealing a narrow crack through which Liu Jia’s gloomy little head peeked out.
