Chapter 86: Counterattack 12

Thanks to Liu Hao, Liu Jia’s mood had already improved considerably; she was no longer on edge over every little thing, nor did she automatically assume “three” whenever she heard a sound.

But Ming Yue’s move so easily shattered her composure.

Gazing at the photo of a back lying in someone’s WeChat Moments, Liu Jia suddenly burst out cursing from inside the car: “You bitch, how shameless!”

She immediately recognized who the main subject of that photo was.

Yet the friend who posted it—someone named A Mu—was someone Liu Jia just couldn’t recall at all, let alone when they’d added each other.

Seeing all the flattering, obsequious comments in the Moments post, Liu Jia promptly pulled the person out and, without a word, deleted A Mu outright.

Still, that didn’t ease her anger one bit.

Back at the Liu family home, before Liu Hao even had a chance to greet her, Liu Jia couldn’t contain herself any longer and pulled him aside. “Have you found the person you were talking about?”

“Of course,” Liu Hao noticed Liu Jia’s sour expression, rolled his eyes, and asked tentatively, “What’s wrong? Did something happen at work? It’s your dad’s company—surely no one would dare make things difficult for you, right?”

“That’s none of your business.”

Just mentioning her dad’s lousy company gave Liu Jia a headache.

She had originally thought that once she joined the company, she’d be treated like a pampered young lady, bossing around those clueless, hardworking drones. Who could have imagined that her dad would actually assign her to the very bottom rung—a position as basic as it gets? Forget giving orders; now she was the one being told what to do!

Even that wasn’t so bad.

With her status and abilities, she was confident that one day she’d climb to the top and aim straight for her dad’s position.

But damn it all.

In that damned project team, there happened to be two freaks—two utterly clueless, impossible-to-deal-with lunatics.

One was the very embodiment of a workaholic, a madman obsessed with his job, seeing nothing but work. Talking to him was useless; if there was even the slightest bit of unfinished work, he’d hound you like a death sentence, not even granting extra time for drinking or using the restroom.

The other was even stranger—seemed to suffer from some kind of serious illness, always glaring at everyone, especially newcomers like her who weren’t yet familiar with the business. If the work got done decently, that was fine; they’d leave each other alone and keep to themselves. But if the job was botched, no matter who you were, whatever the reason, wherever you were, she’d unleash a torrent of abuse, calling out every single problem under the sun.

In just a short time since joining the team, she’d already been berated by that crazy woman seven times—sometimes in front of her colleagues, sometimes in front of clients, and even once right in front of her dad.

And instead of stopping her, Dad acted as if he hadn’t seen a thing…

“So then…” Liu Hao paused, then cautiously asked again, “Who pissed you off this time? Was it that crazy bastard surnamed Chu from your company again? Or that jerk surnamed Qin?”

Because he was close to Liu Jia’s younger brother, Liu Lai, and had been deliberately trying to curry favor lately, Liu Hao was already fully aware of Liu Jia’s little troubles.

Liu Jia wasn’t surprised, but she still didn’t give him a friendly look; she glared at him and said, “I already told you—it’s none of your business. Why are you asking so many questions?”

Liu Hao forced an awkward smile, clenching his fists behind his back while keeping a grin on his face. “Alright, alright—I won’t ask anymore. What do you want me to do? Just tell me.”

“What else could it be? Didn’t you say last time that we could use that method to take down that lunatic? Well, can we pull it off now?”

Liu Jia ran a hand through her hair, then remembered that back again, and hatred filled her eyes.

Liu Hao asked, “We could arrange it, sure—but there’s still too little preparation, and it feels a bit rushed. When exactly do you want to do it? Tell me first.”
