Chapter 99: Counterattack 25

“What do you mean?”

Ming Yue suddenly stopped eating, her big, bright eyes fixed on the man giving orders, yet showing little surprise.

Upon hearing this, Ming Xia’s spirits instantly soared—but she dared not show even a hint of excitement. Instead, she held her food and stepped back.

Ma Fengying raised her head, inexplicably feeling a bit nervous.

Liu Qinxin quietly got up, as if wanting to leave, as though none of this had anything to do with her at all.

But how could Ming Yue let her go so easily?

Just as she was about to reach out and grab her, a sharp shout suddenly rang out from upstairs—again, it was Liu Jia, the one who seemed to have just woken up from a dream.

Hearing this, Liu Qinxin’s heart clenched. She hastily put down what she was holding and hurried upstairs, calling out, “Jiajia!”

Ming Shuo, too, momentarily forgot about his rebellious daughter, Ming Yue, and without saying a word, followed the sound of Liu Qinxin’s footsteps upstairs.

In the vast living room, only Ma Fengying, looking dazed, and Ming Xia, quickly bowing her head to eat, remained.

Ming Yue gave them a casual glance, then slowly moved over to stand beside them. She gently placed her food in front of herself, glanced upstairs, then looked at the two of them. “Grandmother, Auntie, what did Dad say just now?”

“I… I… I don’t know. I didn’t hear clearly. I’m full now, and I’ve got things to do, so I’m leaving first.”

Ming Xia didn’t dare utter a single word; she wiped her mouth and tried to slip away.

Ma Fengying, however, remained silent.

Ming Yue reached out with one hand to grab Ming Xia and placed the other on Ma Fengying’s shoulder. “What’s going on? Even if there is something, it’s not urgent right now. Auntie, Grandmother, why don’t you help me recall what Dad said just now? If I heard correctly, he’s planning to kick me out of the house!”

“I… I didn’t hear anything, Ming Yue. You have to believe me—I was eating just now, really, I didn’t hear a thing. Please don’t make things difficult for me.”

Ming Xia’s voice trembled with tears.

Neither of these two women was someone to be trifled with.

She couldn’t afford to offend either of them.

Even though she was very much looking forward to that showdown between father and daughter, and to the drama of the stepmother and stepdaughter tearing each other apart,

Ma Fengying still said nothing.

As for what her son had just said, of course she had heard it—and heard it perfectly clearly.

It came as a bit of a surprise, even more so as a shock.

Back when she had pressed so hard, her son hadn’t agreed; he’d still let that “bad luck” stay at home. Now, seeing clearly that it was the work of that sly vixen, Ma Fengying wasn’t so keen on actually seeing that “bad luck” kicked out after all.

Especially since she knew that every single vampire in the Liu family, young and old, was leeching off her son, sucking his blood—she even felt that having such a troublemaker granddaughter mixed up in the mix wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be the Liu family’s villa. Who knows how many other villas they’d end up buying with their own money?

“So you won’t admit it, huh?” Ming Yue patted Ming Xia, then turned to pat Ma Fengying as well. “You won’t admit it, either?”

The two remained silent.

Ming Yue continued, “All right, then I’ll tell you. Listen carefully. If I heard correctly, he just told me to get lost—to kick me out of the house.”

Still no response.

Ming Yue went on, “But I’m not that kind of obedient person! I’m not the silly girl I used to be anymore. I’m not going to let anyone push me around. If Dad insists on this, if he really does kick me out, I definitely won’t let it go. I’ll make a huge scene, turn everything upside down. But that’s not the point. The real point is: if he can so casually kick out his own flesh-and-blood daughter like me, Grandmother, Auntie, think about it—next time, do you think he’ll lay a hand on you both just because of his precious little Qinqin?”
