Chapter 106: She Can’t Have the Baby
Chapter 106: She Can’t Have the Baby
Song Qingtian said coldly, “Ling Hanyu, stop talking nonsense.”
“Nonsense?” Ling Hanyu’s eyes flashed with a chilling glint.
Song Qingtian was afraid that their daughter might see how terrifying Ling Hanyu’s expression was, so she stepped in front of her, shielding Ling Nuonuo’s little face against her body.
Gently patting her daughter, Song Qingtian stood up. “I’m going to calm down for a bit.”
“Let’s go to the Hospital.”
Ling Hanyu got up and walked out the door. Song Qingtian was very worried—and also very frustrated. It wasn’t even clear yet whether she was pregnant, but she definitely couldn’t afford to have another child. Taking care of Ling Nuonuo was her top priority; the real question was, what if she really was pregnant? Should she keep it or not?
As soon as they left the villa, Song Qingtian didn’t take Ling Nuonuo with her. Once they were in the car, Song Qingtian looked over at Ling Hanyu, who was driving. The atmosphere in the car was strangely awkward. Song Qingtian felt a bit nervous and kept staring out the window, her face completely pale.
Ling Hanyu drove slowly but steadily. In the rearview mirror, he watched Song Qingtian’s pale face, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Song Qingtian thought of her father and felt deeply uneasy. Being trapped in this wretched place, unable to get out or see him—it made her realize just how true the saying is: “When you want to support your parents, they are no longer there.” If it were only Ling Nuonuo, she could take care of her and find a way to go back. There would still be a chance. But if she ended up having another baby, she feared she might never be able to return. Thinking about how old her father was now, how few days he had left to wait for her—if she couldn’t go back, it would mean wasting the already short time they had together as father and daughter.
Tears began to trickle down Song Qingtian’s cheeks. She was afraid someone would see, so she hurriedly wiped them away.
“What are you crying about?” Ling Hanyu suddenly barked.
Song Qingtian simply cupped her face and burst into tears. Ling Hanyu slowly pulled over and turned around to look at Song Qingtian. She was sobbing uncontrollably—she really couldn’t have the baby.
Ling Hanyu pinched her face. “What are you crying about? Didn’t you always want to have a baby? Now you finally have the chance. Who are you trying to fool with this act?”
Song Qingtian grabbed Ling Hanyu’s hand and turned her face away. “Leave me alone!”
“You want to be with Qin Xiaotian, and the baby is just a burden?”
“What are you talking about? When did I ever say I wanted to be with Qin Xiaotian? I just think I can’t take care of two kids.”
Song Qingtian didn’t want to argue anymore. Things had already gotten this far.
“Stop trying to fool me. Song Qingtian, if you dare set your sights on my son, just wait and see how I’ll deal with you.”
Ling Hanyu’s tone softened considerably as he looked at Song Qingtian’s pale face. “It may not even be pregnancy.”
After saying that, Ling Hanyu grew increasingly agitated. He was fine, Song Qingtian was fine… What about taking medication?
Ling Hanyu got in the car and headed to the hospital. They didn’t say another word on the way.
At the hospital, they underwent the necessary tests, and Ling Hanyu stared blankly at the lab report. “Mr. Ling, it’s indeed confirmed—she’s pregnant this time. This time it’s for real.”
Yang Yifan hadn’t expected Song Qingtian to be so resourceful and to pull it off so quickly. Ling Hanyu looked at Song Qingtian, whose face was as pale as paper, and then at the doctor. “My wife says she took birth control pills. Could that have affected things?”
“We don’t know exactly when she took them or how many times,” the doctor replied.
Ling Hanyu turned to Song Qingtian. “When did she take them? How many times?”
“Just these two times.”
Having a baby was no joke, and Song Qingtian wouldn’t take any chances. “It was just these past few days.”
Ling Hanyu’s face tightened. The doctor explained, “There shouldn’t be any problem.”
“Mm.”
Once the test results were handed to Song Qingtian, Ling Hanyu bent down and picked her up. At that moment, Song Qingtian was so upset that she pressed her face against Ling Hanyu’s chest, clutching at his clothes as if afraid she might fall.
Ling Hanyu looked down at Song Qingtian and carried her out of the hospital. After putting her down, he stayed in the passenger seat and didn’t leave.
“I’ll give you your parents’ inheritance, and I’ll grant you custody of Nuonuo. We can’t get divorced for now, and I’ll draw up a protection agreement for you—just as long as you deliver this baby.”
By this point, Song Qingtian had calmed down. “So you’re only giving me this protection because you want the baby?”
“Otherwise, what do you think?”
“Then there’s no need. I’ll have my own child. My own child! I don’t want him to grow up and ask me one day, ‘When I was born, did my father get a hefty reward from you?’ He’s not some commodity to be bought and sold at will. Since he’s here, even though I initially didn’t plan to have him, now that he’s my gift of life, I have a responsibility to take good care of him and bring him safely into this world—not for money or security, but for the sake of life itself!”
Song Qingtian felt both innocent and overly sentimental. But none of that was an excuse for moral decay. Why should her child have to come into this world only because of some kind of protection?
Ling Hanyu glared coldly. “You really do say one thing and do another!”
Although he wasn’t in a hurry, Ling Hanyu finally got out of the passenger seat and closed the car door.
