Chapter 107: Obsession, Partiality

Back home, Ling Nuonuo had been waiting anxiously.

She was so excited—Mommy was going to give her a little brother!

As soon as she saw Song Qingtian, Ling Nuonuo ran over: “Mommy…”

She spread out her little arms, wanting Song Qingtian to pick her up. Song Qingtian bent down, ready to scoop Ling Nuonuo into her arms.

But before she could, Ling Hanyu scooped up their daughter from the floor.

“Mommy’s having a baby now, so she can’t hold Nuonuo. How about Daddy? Will you let Daddy hold her?” Ling Hanyu glanced at Song Qingtian by his side. “I’ll be home from now on. You’re in a special period right now—please don’t hold Nuonuo. If there’s anything you need, just tell Aunt Chen to take care of it. And if I’m not around, well… if all else fails, call my parents and ask them to come over.”

“No, no, that’s fine,” Song Qingtian replied. She wasn’t one to make a fuss. Having a baby was something every woman had to go through; there was no need to make such a big deal out of it.

“Just let me know if you need anything,” Song Qingtian said.

Ling Hanyu gave her a cold look, then picked up their daughter and sat down on the sofa.

Song Qingtian followed, sitting down to play with Ling Nuonuo.

Ling Nuonuo was thrilled, wrapping her little arms around Song Qingtian’s neck and planting a kiss on her cheek. “Mommy’s so great!”

Song Qingtian smiled awkwardly, hugging her daughter and kissing her back.

“Mommy’s fine—Mommy’s really strong!”

“Mommy, what’s the baby’s name?” Ling Nuonuo was sure—there was definitely a little brother growing inside Song Qingtian’s belly.

She loved little brothers.

But Song Qingtian could only sigh helplessly: “It’s still too early to tell whether it’s a boy or a girl.”

“I want a little brother!” Ling Nuonuo exclaimed, her eyes wide with determination.

Song Qingtian chuckled. “But we don’t even know yet if it’s a boy or a girl! Still, it doesn’t matter—little brothers and little sisters are both Nuonuo’s favorite!”

“Oh,” Ling Nuonuo said, a bit disappointed, but she agreed anyway.

Pregnancy was a fact now. Although Song Qingtian was reluctant, the reality was undeniable, so she stopped dwelling on it. As for everything else, they’d just have to keep going.

After a night’s rest, Song Qingtian took her daughter to school.

To emphasize how important her daughter was, Song Qingtian made arrangements with Ling Hanyu the very first night: she would take Ling Nuonuo to school today and stay with them.

She’d thought it would be hard to get him to agree, but as soon as she brought it up, Ling Hanyu readily said yes.

This made Song Qingtian realize just how important pregnancy was—and how much more important it was to be carrying a son.

The school had stepped in, and after carefully observing the teachers and the other children, Song Qingtian felt confident enough to entrust her daughter to the teachers. But she didn’t leave right away; instead, she waited at the school—for more than three hours.

Three hours later, Song Qingtian proactively went to the teacher and said she missed her daughter, then picked Ling Nuonuo up.

The teachers at the new school were incredibly kind to Ling Nuonuo, and the other kids, charmed by how adorable she was, all rushed to befriend her.

Ling Nuonuo felt time flew by—before she even had a chance to finish playing, she was picked up.

It was very different from before.

“Mommy… we’re not done with school yet!” Ling Nuonuo said, sitting in the car, her little face brimming with joy and anticipation.

Song Qingtian replied, “Mommy’s worried you might not be used to staying at school for so long. Tomorrow we can let you stay a bit longer, but Mommy will still wait for you then, too.”

“Oh!” Ling Nuonuo was very satisfied, snuggling close to Song Qingtian and holding onto her tightly.

Ling Hanyu drove, glancing at Song Qingtian in the backseat. Was it because she was pregnant that she’d become even more enchanting lately?

For the next week, Song Qingtian and Ling Hanyu continued picking up and dropping off Ling Nuonuo in this same manner.

After a week, Ling Nuonuo herself asked if she could stop coming home so early—and that she didn’t need Mommy and Daddy’s company like the other kids did.

Even so, Song Qingtian still wasn’t completely at ease. She secretly installed a listening device in Ling Nuonuo’s backpack and monitored her for a whole week. When she found out that her daughter was truly adorable—loved by both teachers and classmates—she finally felt reassured.

And during these two weeks, Ling Hanyu noticed every change in Song Qingtian.

He couldn’t quite put his finger on when it started, but his obsession with Song Qingtian had turned into genuine affection!

“Stop eating—it’s not good to drink it like that.” After leaving school, Song Qingtian was about to finish the half-box of milk Ling Nuonuo had left over for breakfast, but Ling Hanyu stopped her.

“It’s still warm—no problem,” Song Qingtian said, bringing the straw to her lips and drinking the milk.

Ling Hanyu frowned. “What about the card I gave you this morning? Whatever you like, just buy it. Even if your parents’ money isn’t exactly interest upon interest, it’s still plenty for you to use.”

Song Qingtian ignored Ling Hanyu’s reminder that she hadn’t spent his money.

Instead, she shot back, “Do my parents have a lot of assets?”

“Not bad,” Ling Hanyu replied.

After that, Song Qingtian fell silent.

Ling Hanyu asked, “Want to take it back?”

Song Qingtian’s beautiful eyes met the person in the rearview mirror. “You’re giving it to me?”
