Chapter 134: The Miscarriage Incident

Chen Yun slammed hard against Ling Hanyu’s car, and Ling Hanyu’s hand loosened as he turned to glance at Song Qingtian.

Song Qingtian was breathing heavily, her face a bit pale.

Ling Hanyu looked at Chen Yun, who was about to run, and Chen Yun tumbled off the car, landing flat on the ground. Ling Hanyu stomped hard on Chen Yun’s back—crack!—

“Ah!” Chen Yun screamed, his cry piercing like that of a slaughtered pig.

Song Qingtian took a step back, then lowered her head to look at what lay beneath her—everything was soaked in blood!

“Ling Hanyu…” Song Qingtian wept.

Ling Hanyu turned away coldly, seeing Song Qingtian’s tears streaming down her face.

He glanced down and saw the pool of blood.

It was as if struck by lightning!

“The baby!” Song Qingtian fainted as she spoke, and Ling Hanyu stood frozen for a few seconds before finally coming to his senses.

He picked up Song Qingtian and hurried out of the underground parking lot.

Outside, he hailed a car and rushed to the hospital.

All the way, Ling Hanyu held Song Qingtian tightly in his arms, staring at the pool of blood beneath her.

His eyes were filled with blood; nothing had ever been so glaring or so agonizing.

When Song Qingtian emerged from surgery, she was still unconscious. The doctor sadly told Ling Hanyu that the baby hadn’t survived.

Ling Hanyu asked, “My wife has miscarried?”

“Yes.”

“But she wasn’t pregnant?”

“She was less than two months along,” the doctor replied, turning to leave. Ling Hanyu looked at Song Qingtian, his brow slightly furrowed.

Song Qingtian was taken to the ward, and Ling Hanyu called Yang Yifan.

Yang Yifan arrived quickly, and Ling Hanyu was sitting outside the room.

Yang Yifan asked, “Madam?”

“Miscarriage!”

Ling Hanyu raised his eyes to meet Yang Yifan’s, his gaze icy cold: “You know best whether Madam was really pregnant—you were the one who accompanied her to the checkup.”

Yang Yifan immediately understood: “Mr. Ling, if I…”

“…” Ling Hanyu leaned against the wall, closed his eyes, and a chilling aura enveloped him: “Go to the underground parking lot, pull the surveillance footage, and find Chen Yun… I want him to pay with his life!”

Yang Yifan turned and left quickly. He couldn’t escape responsibility for this incident; he just hoped to make amends as much as possible—he still had a chance to redeem himself!

Song Qingtian slowly came to, her eyes unfocused, dazed.

Her mind was cluttered with thoughts, but the first thing she did was reach for her belly.

“There will be another one!”

At that moment, Ling Hanyu suddenly spoke, startling Song Qingtian.

She quickly withdrew her hand and turned to look at Ling Hanyu.

Ling Hanyu’s face was pale, his eyes deep and intense.

He looked ill.

Song Qingtian placed her hand back gently, saying nothing.

Ling Hanyu asked her, “Do you know if you’re pregnant?”

Song Qingtian hesitated, wondering whether it would be better not to tell the truth.

“Yesterday at work, I nearly fell and worried the baby might be in danger, so I went to the hospital with Secretary Yang for a checkup. The doctor said I wasn’t pregnant. I didn’t get any detailed tests done—I just remembered my period and assumed it must have been a misdiagnosis.”

Song Qingtian pursed her lips. “But at dinner, I felt nauseous when I saw fish, and I thought I might have some serious illness. The next morning, I took Nuonuo to school and went for another checkup. This time the doctor confirmed I wasn’t misdiagnosed and even ran blood tests.”

“So why didn’t you say anything?”

“I didn’t have time. After leaving the hospital, I was going to the mall to buy a few things when I got your call. Qin Xiaotian intercepted me, deliberately trying to make you misunderstand me, then forcibly shoved me into a car and dropped me off at the company entrance. Time was too tight, and I hadn’t said a word yet.”

Song Qingtian’s silence did raise suspicions, but she felt helpless. Not speaking was also because saying more would only make things worse—Ling Hanyu might not believe her anyway.

The original female supporting character’s marriage had always been built on scheming and bed-hopping, and their daughter Nuonuo was merely a sacrificial pawn in that game.

In Song Qingtian’s view, Nuonuo was still young and knew very little. When Nuonuo grew up and began to understand love, realizing she was a casualty of her parents’ marriage—what would happen then?

Ling Hanyu stood up, and Song Qingtian’s eyes widened.

Ling Hanyu appeared before her, his hands resting on either side of her body: “There will be another baby—we’re both still young.”

Song Qingtian pursed her lips. She’d always been strong, and though she was a bit sad, she wasn’t heartbroken at all. After all, she didn’t feel much pain, nor was she being overly sentimental.

But hearing Ling Hanyu say that, tears welled up unbidden.

They rolled down her cheeks, blurring her vision.

Song Qingtian took a deep breath: “How easy is that?”

There was no real affection between them.

If it weren’t for the original female supporting character’s cunning schemes, how could this have happened?

Even though it wasn’t through proper channels, it was still a life—a life growing inside her womb—and now it was gone. It hurt so much!

She wasn’t made of wood, after all.

But if there’s no love between two people, there’s no way there can be another child!

Ling Hanyu bent down and softly kissed her tears: “Don’t cry!”

Song Qingtian sniffed and wiped away her tears. “Fine, I won’t cry!”

What a wimp!
