Chapter 173: She Brought It on Herself
But Song Qingtian didn’t make a fuss—there was nothing to pry into, just some news to read.
Ling Hanyu glanced at the screen and asked Song Qingtian, “When did this happen?”
“Actually, that’s not the real issue.”
Song Qingtian dismissed it lightly.
Ling Hanyu’s expression grew grave. He scrolled back one page—and sure enough, there were more articles.
Out of fear of being held accountable, Song Qingtian had fled after the incident.
Ling Hanyu looked at Song Qingtian and tossed her his phone.
He then went over to his office chair and sat down, just about to call Secretary Yang when the doorbell rang—Secretary Yang was rushing in.
Ling Hanyu beckoned him in, and Yang Yifan froze upon seeing Song Qingtian, but quickly hurried over to Ling Hanyu.
The situation was urgent; he needed to report everything to Ling Hanyu right away.
“General Manager Ling, could someone be framing Madam?”
“What do you think?”
Ling Hanyu was clearly displeased, his face cold and stern.
Yang Yifan immediately replied, “Then I’ll handle it right away.”
“Wait for them to arrive.”
Ling Hanyu glanced at Song Qingtian. “Madam hasn’t eaten lunch yet—order something for her. When the police come, have them come straight up.”
“Yes.”
Yang Yifan shot Song Qingtian a quick look before turning to leave.
Song Qingtian kept refreshing the news.
Someone had even posted photos of her at the dining room.
The restaurant’s owner and staff were accusing her of confinement and abuse.
Because of the verbal attacks, she’d brought people in to mistreat and humiliate everyone in the restaurant.
After reading for a while, Song Qingtian got up to grab a drink.
Secretary Yang soon delivered the meal—four dishes and a soup.
Song Qingtian was actually quite hungry, especially when she saw the xiaolongbao.
She loved good food.
She never turned down anything delicious.
After washing her hands, Song Qingtian asked, “Did Secretary Yang eat?”
“I already had lunch.”
“Try some.”
Song Qingtian picked up a xiaolongbao and offered it to Yang Yifan.
Yang Yifan looked embarrassed. “I’m not hungry—Madam, please go ahead.”
“Just try it.”
Song Qingtian held out the xiaolongbao, waiting for Yang Yifan to take a bite.
Yang Yifan glanced at Ling Hanyu, who had just sat down and hadn’t paid any attention.
“I’m going to wash my hands.”
Yang Yifan left, and when he returned, Song Qingtian was still waiting.
Yang Yifan paused briefly, glanced at Ling Hanyu, then walked over to Song Qingtian, thanked her, and took one.
Song Qingtian asked, “Is it tasty?”
“This is Tianxiangge’s signature steamed bun. General Manager Ling loves it—he orders it all the time. It’s the best baozi in the city,” Yang Yifan explained.
Song Qingtian smiled faintly. “Not necessarily. Neither General Manager Ling nor I can finish it all. Here, take this—you can try my cooking another day. I’ll make baozi and give some to Secretary Yang so he can taste my skills too.”
Secretary Yang’s face nearly turned green. Everyone knew Song Qingtian was as delicate as a flower—she couldn’t do a thing.
Was she deliberately trying to warn him, or was she hoping he’d be scared to death by the baozi?
Could he even eat it?
“Thank you, Madam!”
Yang Yifan reluctantly agreed.
Song Qingtian sat down and began eating.
Ling Hanyu watched her eat. He thought the xiaolongbao was delicious, but there was no need to gobble them down one after another.
She wasn’t acting like a proper young lady at all—no sense of decorum whatsoever.
“If you like it, order more tomorrow.”
Song Qingtian glanced at Ling Hanyu but didn’t respond.
Ling Hanyu grew impatient. “Eat slower!”
When Song Qingtian finished the last xiaolongbao in her hand, she got up to wash her hands and rinse her mouth.
Yang Yifan had only taken one bite.
Ling Hanyu became even more annoyed. He hadn’t said she couldn’t eat—it was just that she should eat more slowly.
Glancing at the remaining xiaolongbao, Ling Hanyu stood up to wash his hands and rinse his mouth.
As soon as he stepped into the bathroom, someone knocked at the door.
Secretary Yang opened it, and it was the police.
“We’re here to make an arrest. Is Ms. Song Qingtian in here?”
“She is—please come in.”
Secretary Yang ushered the officers inside and reported from the bathroom doorway.
“General Manager Ling, the police are here to see Madam.”
“I know.”
Ling Hanyu was standing behind Song Qingtian, watching her wash her hands. She showed no emotion; her whole demeanor was calm and composed.
Ling Hanyu couldn’t say much right now—there were outsiders present.
He lowered his head and bit the edge of Song Qingtian’s earlobe. She hurriedly tried to dodge.
She was washing her hands, her hands were wet, and she didn’t want to touch Ling Hanyu.
But Ling Hanyu wrapped his arms around her from behind as she washed, and their bodies ended up pressed together.
And just like that, Song Qingtian’s body couldn’t resist. The moment Ling Hanyu touched her, she felt the thread holding her restraint snap.
Song Qingtian stared at Ling Hanyu in the mirror, looking impatient.
Ling Hanyu pressed his chin against her shoulder, his breath brushing against her ear.
She pursed her lips and glared at Ling Hanyu: This is what you brought on yourself!
