Chapter 191: The Lion Opens Its Mouth Wide

Chen Jianxiu smiled and glanced at Song Qingtian and her daughter before turning to Ling Hanyu: “Since you know who I am, you must also know my purpose.”

“Is it about the incident where Song Yinyin harmed someone?”

When the police came to their door, Song Qingtian made it perfectly clear that Song Yinyin was the one behind the harm. Song Qingtian wouldn’t make such a baseless claim—Ling Hanyu knew that much. Before leaving, the police had even asked them to go to the restaurant to check the surveillance cameras and had called their lawyer; sure enough, they found the footage, and the other side was already working on an apology. But Ling Hanyu wasn’t in any hurry for that apology. What needed sorting out was Song Yinyin’s situation.

He’d already looked into this Chen Jianxiu’s background—he was here for Song Yinyin.

“What do you mean ‘harm’? Yinyin is young and doesn’t know any better. She’s my goddaughter. I’m here today to apologize to you on her behalf. Could you please show some mercy and let her go? Rest assured, as long as she doesn’t have to face the public or take responsibility, I’ll agree to any request.”

“Except…”

Before Ling Hanyu could even say the word “apology,” Song Qingtian had already grabbed his hand. Ling Hanyu glanced at her, and she gave him a smile. Then she turned to Chen Jianxiu: “If that’s the case, I don’t want to drive her to the brink either. After all, Yinyin is my sister—though not by blood, we’ve grown up together since we were little. I’m certainly not happy about what happened to her. And I’m really upset that she would harm others and pin the blame on me, even going so far as to collude with so many people to frame me. That really angered me. But I still can’t bear the thought of anything happening to her—just a good lesson will be enough.”

“Miss Song is very reasonable,” Chen Jianxiu thought. “As for Ling Hanyu, he’s no different.” Ling Hanyu kept a stoic expression, saying nothing.

Song Qingtian then said, “But at the end of the day, this matter still needs to teach Yinyin a lesson so she understands right from wrong—and that harming others only harms herself!”

“Miss Song, please go ahead. If I can do it, I’ll definitely do it.”

“Then I won’t hold back. Mr. Chen, ten million—let’s settle this. What do you think?”

Chen Jianxiu was momentarily taken aback. He glanced at Ling Hanyu and then nodded: “As long as Miss Song is willing, there’s no problem.”

“Very well then. Mr. Chen, transfer the money to me.”

Song Qingtian took out her phone and opened the payment app. Chen Jianxiu ordered someone to make the transfer, and once the ten million was deposited, Song Qingtian took a look. In the world of the wealthy, money may just be a number.

Song Qingtian accepted the money and said, “Mr. Chen, now that this matter is settled, rest assured: as long as Yinyin doesn’t come looking for trouble again, I won’t pursue her further. Of course, this sum buys off her attempt to frame me. Since you’ve already hired someone to take the blame, that’s your affair—once I withdraw the lawsuit, it’s over.”

Chen Jianxiu stared at Song Qingtian, his gaze growing deeper.

“Very well then, I’ll take my leave. General Ling, farewell.” With that, Chen Jianxiu stood up and left.

Song Qingtian waited until he was gone before kissing her daughter.

Ling Hanyu picked up his water glass and took a sip, his dark, brooding eyes fixed on the outside of the car. He watched as Chen Jianxiu got into his vehicle and drove away.

“Let’s head back,” Ling Hanyu said, standing up and preparing to take Song Qingtian and their daughter home.

Song Qingtian rose as well and followed him outside.

Outside the restaurant

As Chen Jianxiu climbed into his car, he instructed, “Find a few people and take care of it!”

The assistant looked up at Chen Jianxiu: “Boss Chen, after all, she’s Ling Hanyu’s wife—we…”

“No way we can keep her around!”

Chen Jianxiu settled into the car, and the driver pulled away. The assistant glanced back toward the restaurant, hopped into another vehicle, and made calls to arrange for someone to intercept them along the way. They needed to find a suitable spot to make their move.

Song Qingtian got into the car with Ling Hanyu and pushed the door shut. Ling Hanyu scanned the surroundings through the rearview mirror before getting in and driving off.

As soon as Song Qingtian got in the car, she sensed something was off. Ling Hanyu was clearly more alert than usual.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

Ling Hanyu glanced at the rearview mirror: “Nuonuo, are you sleepy?”

“No, I’m not.”

Ling Nuonuo was thrilled—she wasn’t sleepy at all! Mommy was amazing!

Ling Hanyu caught sight of Song Qingtian in the rearview mirror, and she immediately understood. She hugged Ling Nuonuo tightly, gently patting her to lull her to sleep.

It didn’t take long for Ling Nuonuo to drift off. Meanwhile, something strange was happening up ahead: the road suddenly grew eerily quiet, but several cars had pulled over on the opposite side. Not only that, people were getting out of the vehicles, each carrying sticks.

Song Qingtian clutched her daughter close and covered her with her coat.

Ling Hanyu slammed on the brakes!
