Chapter 2: Deciding to Have This Baby Terminated
A cold, detached voice came from above, “What are you so flustered about—what are you planning to do?”
“Mr. Ling, you’re here.”
The man who looked like a secretary quickly said respectfully.
“Mr. Ling?”
Song Qingtian’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Oh my goodness!
This man with deep, restrained features was indeed the male lead from the drama—Ling Hanyu! She hadn’t expected him in person to be even more handsome than on screen.
But right now, there was no time to dwell on that; she certainly didn’t want to die just like that.
“Well… the doctor said I’m pregnant, and I’m going to have this baby terminated!”
Song Qingtian thought to herself that she was quite the little genius—coming up with such an answer on the spot. Surely Ling Hanyu would be satisfied now…
Maybe then she wouldn’t have to die after all!
Upon hearing this, Ling Hanyu’s handsome brows furrowed slightly, and a faint chill flashed in his eyes as he looked at Song Qingtian.
“Terminate the pregnancy? Song Qingtian, what kind of nonsense are you getting into now? Don’t think you can dodge the divorce just by pretending to be pregnant!”
Pretending to be pregnant?
Song Qingtian blinked, staring at the man before her.
It seemed the doctor hadn’t yet told Ling Hanyu about her pregnancy, which meant she might still have a bit of control over the situation.
“I’ve been thinking… about our divorce…”
“Stop talking. I don’t want to hear another word from you.”
Just as Song Qingtian was about to say she agreed to the divorce, the man cut her off abruptly, his cold tone as if a sheer cliff had suddenly appeared between them.
Song Qingtian couldn’t help but shoot him a glare.
She forced herself to remain patient and tried again, “Could you please stop being so cold for a moment? Could you at least let me finish speaking? I said I agree…”
Beep, beep, beep…
Before Song Qingtian could even finish her sentence, Ling Hanyu’s phone rang!
Without so much as glancing at Song Qingtian, he answered immediately.
“Yinyin, what’s wrong?”
Yinyin… that name sounded like the female lead’s.
Song Qingtian perked up her ears and listened intently to the conversation.
“Jiefu, where are you? I’ve been looking for you at the Company…”
“I’ll be back to the Company right away.”
Ling Hanyu said only two sentences before hanging up.
Then, without even looking at Song Qingtian, he turned to his secretary and said, “I’m heading back to the Company. You handle this matter.”
And with that, he walked away without a second glance.
Truly cold-blooded—he doesn’t even care about the supporting character. He interrupts her mid-sentence and won’t stay one second longer than necessary.
Song Qingtian couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for the female lead.
“Miss Song, I’ll go pay the medical bill for you first, then come back to ask you about the details.”
The secretary said this to Song Qingtian before hurrying downstairs.
Song Qingtian felt utterly helpless and hopeless.
If she’d known she was going to be transported here, she should’ve read the book carefully instead of skimming through the plot summaries. Now she couldn’t make heads or tails of the characters’ personalities, relationships, or backgrounds—and had no idea what to do next.
She could turn to the cute little Nuonuo beside her for advice; as her daughter, Nuonuo ought to know something, right?
But… Nuonuo had already fallen asleep sometime earlier.
Could she please not cooperate so well?
Song Qingtian gritted her teeth, grabbed a blanket, and covered Nuonuo up, then pondered for three seconds.
Forget it! She decided to escape after all.
Nuonuo is the daughter in the novel—she’s certainly adorable—but she’s also the daughter of the supporting character Song Qingtian, not Song Qingtian’s real daughter in this world.
So Song Qingtian isn’t responsible for her.
Besides, if she doesn’t escape now, she’ll be dead soon!
Survival comes first; responsibility can wait.
ID card, bank card, visa…
Song Qingtian rummaged through her bag and realized she hadn’t brought any of those with her.
Just as she was about to sneak out and grab her things while Ling Hanyu was at the Company, she heard Nuonuo muttering restlessly in her sleep.
“Mom… please don’t leave… don’t abandon Nuonuo…”
