Chapter 3: Don’t Talk Nonsense to the Kids
The soft, childlike voice sank straight into Song Qingtian’s mind. Suddenly, she recalled her younger self years ago—how she, too, had begged her mother not to leave, yet her mother had still walked away.
She tightened the strap of her backpack, gritted her teeth, and finally picked up Nuonuo, who was frowning.
Thinking about how Ling Hanyu had also given her plenty of gifts, and that she even had a little savings stash—though she couldn’t remember exactly how much—it meant she could definitely afford to raise the child!
Nuonuo nestled against Song Qingtian’s chest, inhaling her familiar, sweet scent, and soon drifted off to sleep.
While the Secretary hadn’t returned yet, Song Qingtian quickly grabbed Nuonuo and made a run for it.
Fortunately, she’d previously dismissed all the servants at the Villa in order to show Ling Hanyu how hardworking and capable she was. After entering the password, she laid Nuonuo down on the bed and set about stashing away her little savings.
Song Qingtian didn’t even have time to take a close look; she just grabbed a large suitcase and stuffed everything from the safe inside, then rummaged through the wardrobe for some clothes to throw in as well. Next, she packed in a few of Nuonuo’s things, and to top it off, she thoughtfully brought along some milk powder and baby bottles.
With great effort, she pressed down on the bulging suitcase until it finally snapped shut. Just as she was about to pick up Nuonuo, the little one rubbed her eyes, her tiny fan-like lashes fluttering.
“Mommy…”
“Shh! Don’t talk, Nuonuo. Mommy’s taking you on an adventure.”
Afraid that if Nuonuo started asking questions, it would waste precious time, Song Qingtian simply lied to her.
Nuonuo covered her mouth with her chubby little hand, her big eyes wide with excitement as she gazed at Song Qingtian.
Song Qingtian held Nuonuo in one arm and dragged the suitcase in the other as they headed out. Just as they reached the top of the stairs, she spotted Song Yinyin sitting shyly on the sofa, wearing a sheer nightgown.
Meanwhile, Ling Hanyu had just stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped in a large bathrobe that revealed his perfectly sculpted chest muscles.
Song Qingtian quickly covered Nuonuo’s eyes and whispered,
“Nuonuo, don’t look—your eyes will get stuck!”
Nuonuo nodded obediently, and the two of them tiptoed back to a safe spot, where Song Qingtian began plotting how to slip past this pair of lovebirds and make their escape.
When Song Yinyin saw Ling Hanyu, she hurriedly stood up and handed him a glass of juice. “I’m so sorry—I spilled juice all over you just now. Let me pour you another glass.”
Ling Hanyu drained the glass in one gulp, only then did he furrow his brow and take a closer look at Song Yinyin.
Song Yinyin’s face instantly turned bright red.
“I… my clothes got wet just now, so I just grabbed whatever was handy. Isn’t it a bit too revealing?”
She put on a very innocent act.
And Song Qingtian, watching from the side, was utterly stunned!
This kind of steamy scene should really be left to the main characters—what a disgrace!
But just then, there was a sudden crack—the suitcase, overloaded with stuff, simply couldn’t take the weight anymore, and the clasp snapped open. Clothes tumbled out like an avalanche.
She and Nuonuo had been hiding in a blind spot, where they might’ve gone unnoticed if they hadn’t looked up—but now… they were completely exposed to both of them because of one single suitcase.
Song Qingtian awkwardly lifted her stiff lips and gave a fake smile, just like those “fake-smiling boys” on the internet, but even that felt terribly embarrassing.
The air grew unbearably still, and the sense of dread was far more real than any horror movie.
“Haha…”
Song Qingtian let out three forced laughs first, trying to ease the awkwardness, when Nuonuo, ever so cute, piped up.
“Mommy, why aren’t Daddy and Auntie wearing any clothes?”
“Hehe…”
Song Qingtian felt even more embarrassed. She scratched her head and looked at Nuonuo with a serious expression.
“That’s because Daddy and Auntie are feeling a bit hot, hehehe…”
“Oh.”
Nuonuo nodded, and Song Qingtian realized this was way too likely to mislead the child, so she cleared her throat and said,
“Miss Yinyin, your outfit does seem a bit revealing. How about I find you something else to wear?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Song Qingtian immediately opened her suitcase and started rummaging through it.
But… after taking one look, she completely fell apart.
