Chapter 4: A White Lotus in the Flourishing Age
“Mom! Please save this poor girl!”
Song Qingtian had completely forgotten that the female supporting character in this novel was truly an oddball! To seduce the male lead, she wore nothing but a couple of everyday outfits—nothing decent at all—only clothes designed to stir men’s interest!
The clothes she pulled out of her suitcase were even more revealing, suggestive, and provocative than the last.
Song Qingtian felt she was done for. Such a character would surely end up in a vegetative state near the end of the story—truly deserving of her fate.
Quickly stuffing the even more scandalous outfits back into her suitcase, Song Qingtian forced an awkward smile at Song Yinyin and Ling Hanyu.
“Um… what do you think of the outfit I’m wearing? I’ll take it off and give it to you!”
She felt like she was desperately clinging to life.
She was like a piece of fish meat already laid out on the cutting board, ready for Ling Hanyu to chop at any moment.
“Song Qingtian! Take Nuonuo and head back to the Bedroom first!”
Finally, the man beside them let out a frustrated growl.
Ling Hanyu had always been exceptionally self-controlled, never letting his emotions show—but right now, all he wanted was to grab Song Qingtian and throw her to the ground!
Startled, Song Qingtian didn’t even bother to pack her suitcase anymore; she just grabbed Nuonuo and ran away.
Downstairs.
Song Yinyin was both embarrassed and furious, her face flushed red as tears welled up in her eyes.
“This… this outfit… I spent ages searching for something wearable. You know how my sister always wears even more outrageous clothes. I’m so ashamed!”
Song Yinyin bit her lip, crying bitterly.
Meanwhile, Ling Hanyu stepped forward and draped his long trench coat over Song Yinyin.
The coat was very long; once she put it on, it reached right down to her ankles, hiding everything.
“I’ll have the Driver take you home first.”
“I…”
Song Yinyin glanced hesitantly at Ling Hanyu, then at the empty juice cup on the coffee table, clearly torn.
“Maybe I’ll wait a bit. You should be done with Sister Qingtian soon, right? I can wait. I’m afraid you’ll get mad—if you don’t want to fight with me over Sister Qingtian, please don’t.”
Song Yinyin sounded remarkably reasonable.
But Ling Hanyu’s gaze was unwavering.
Without giving Song Yinyin a chance to explain, he picked up his phone and ordered the driver to take her home.
Song Qingtian’s heart was pounding as she heard footsteps growing closer and closer.
She was terrified—what should she do?
It must be Ling Hanyu coming to settle the score!
That dog of a man—because she’d ruined his date with Xiao Qing, he was going to come after her.
She looked around frantically, clutching Nuonuo even tighter.
Nuonuo was her only shield now.
“Nuonuo, if Daddy gets angry at Mommy later, stop him. If you can’t, just cry, okay?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Nuonuo nodded solemnly, and Song Qingtian covered her forehead in despair, wondering whether such a three-year-old could really be relied upon.
“It’s not what you think. Song Yinyin and I just had a misunderstanding.”
Song Qingtian stared at Ling Hanyu in surprise. What kind of trick was this? He was actually trying to explain himself to her?
“Song Qingtian, what are you burning in the room again, trying to make things spicy?”
As he spoke, Ling Hanyu began searching the room, but he couldn’t shake off the uneasy feeling; the more he searched, the more agitated he became.
He even yanked open his bathrobe a little wider.
Song Qingtian glared at Ling Hanyu. This man sure knew how to frame her—no sooner had she explained herself than he started blaming her again!
