Chapter 205: A Catastrophe

Song Qingtian got up in the middle of the night, while Ling Hanyu was fast asleep.

Song Qingtian went to the bathroom, turned on her phone, and began to act. Soon, videos of Bai Ge and Chen Jiaxiu appeared online, but she quickly deleted them—this time, without taking too long.

The reason was simple: she didn’t want anyone to discover that she had posted the videos.

As for Chen Jianxiu, she made a phone call.

At that moment, Chen Jianxiu was waiting for Song Qingtian; as soon as she stepped outside, he would make sure she never saw another day.

Why didn’t he try to break into Ling Hanyu’s villa? He simply couldn’t think of a way or an opportunity to get in.

For one thing, Ling Hanyu was no pushover. Although Chen Jianxiu wasn’t afraid of him, Ling Hanyu’s reputation in City A was legendary—without any real leverage, who would dare cross him without trembling at the very mention of his name?

Chen Jianxiu had indeed tried to find a way to take down Ling Hanyu. He’d thought it through and even sought out the right people. But in City A, no one dared touch Ling Hanyu.

Some even advised Chen Jianxiu not to go head-to-head with him—doing so would only end badly.

Yet Chen Jianxiu refused to back down; in fact, he wouldn’t even consider giving up. If Bai Ge could be forced to jump off a building, how could he possibly surrender?

No one would help him, so Chen Jianxiu decided to handle it himself.

On top of that, Ling Hanyu’s villa was equipped with a state-of-the-art security system. As soon as anyone got close, an alarm would sound—a rather peculiar kind of alarm. The entire perimeter of the villa would emit a warning tone, asking, “Who are you?”

Even someone as experienced as Chen Jianxiu was taken aback. Just getting near triggered the alarm—and from five kilometers away!

The streetlights along the road were all equipped with automatic scanning systems; once the cameras activated their full-range surveillance, they began identifying every vehicle approaching.

Chen Jianxiu couldn’t get in, nor could he even get close. So he had no choice but to wait.

When Chen Jianxiu received Song Qingtian’s call, he was quite surprised.

“Hello!”

Chen Jianxiu replied patiently.

“It’s Song Qingtian. Are you trying to see Bai Ge?”

Song Qingtian remembered that Chen Jianxiu was utterly devoted to Bai Ge.

“Do you know where she is?”

“Of course I do! Not only do I know where she is, I also know why she jumped.”

Those words struck a chord with Chen Jianxiu.

“Could it be because of you?”

Chen Jianxiu shot back sarcastically.

“If she’d jumped just because of me, that’d be pretty ridiculous, wouldn’t it?”

Song Qingtian kept quiet for a moment, but when she spoke again, Chen Jianxiu found himself agreeing with her.

In Chen Jianxiu’s eyes, Bai Ge was no fool. Her intelligence was unmatched. Could she really have jumped off a building just for Song Qingtian? No way!

Chen Jianxiu remained silent, and Song Qingtian continued:

“Ten million yuan—transfer it to my account, and I’ll tell you not only which hospital Bai Ge is in, but also why she jumped and who pushed her off the building.”

“Pushed her off?”

Chen Jianxiu’s blood boiled with excitement.

But Song Qingtian didn’t elaborate further; she went straight to the point:

“Transfer ten million to me, or else forget everything!”

With that, Song Qingtian hung up and smiled.

Chen Jianxiu immediately called her back, but her phone was on silent, and he stared at it intently.

Finally, after Chen Jianxiu transferred the ten million, she answered the call.

“She’s in the Provincial Hospital. It was Song Haichang who pushed her off the building. They had a little disagreement—why, you should know perfectly well.”

Song Qingtian felt she’d really gone too far. But if Chen Jianxiu didn’t die, it would be her who ended up in trouble. She had no other choice.

After hanging up, Chen Jianxiu called Song Haichang.

“Where are you?”

Song Haichang stammered and couldn’t say a word.

“I want to see Bai Ge—where is she?”

Chen Jianxiu gave Song Haichang no chance to think it over, but Song Haichang sensed that Chen Jianxiu meant business.

As for whether to tell Chen Jianxiu where Bai Ge was… Song Haichang had his own thoughts.

If Bai Ge wanted him to know, she’d tell him herself. But since she hadn’t said anything, it meant she didn’t want to see him—or let Chen Jianxiu know.

The reason was simple: in Bai Ge’s heart, Song Haichang was always the most important person. She’d only gotten involved with Chen Jianxiu out of necessity.

With this mindset, Song Haichang not only refused to reveal Bai Ge’s location to Chen Jianxiu, but also went to great lengths to stall him.

Who was Chen Jianxiu, anyway? His success today wasn’t due to wealth or connections—it was all thanks to his sharp mind.

Would Chen Jianxiu really fail to see through Song Haichang’s little tricks?

Song Haichang thought he was being clever and managed to brush off the question. But what he didn’t realize was that a disaster was about to strike.
