Chapter 206: All Under Control
Chapter 206: All Under Control
Song Haichang’s accident happened in the middle of the night—a car crash that sent him straight to the Hospital.
By morning, he was still in critical condition.
Chen Jianxiu, with his usual resourcefulness, managed to keep the news under wraps.
No one knew about Song Haichang’s accident, but Chen Jianxiu wasn’t going to stand by and let him die; life-saving measures had to be taken.
If Song Haichang were to die, it couldn’t be on his watch.
Chen Jianxiu didn’t want to break his promise to Bai Ge.
Bai Ge hadn’t seen Song Haichang yet, so she called him—but no one answered.
Song Yinyin stepped out of her house, planning to head to the hospital to see Bai Ge, when she got a call from Bai Ge: “Where’s your father?”
“Dad’s not home—he went to see you this morning, didn’t he?”
Song Yinyin had only left in the afternoon and still didn’t know what had happened.
Bai Ge felt something was off, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Given Song Haichang’s personality, he simply couldn’t stay away from her.
Over the past couple of days, Song Haichang had been unusually attentive and caring; now he’d suddenly disappeared, his phone unreachable. She worried something must have gone wrong.
“Call your dad—see if you can get through.”
Song Yinyin tried calling Song Haichang, but no one picked up.
Then she ran into Chen Jianxiu.
Chen Jianxiu’s car was parked by the side of the road, and he looked over at Song Yinyin, who was waiting for a ride: “Yinyin.”
Song Yinyin recognized Chen Jianxiu at once—she’d seen his photos many times before. In his younger days, he’d been a handsome young man.
Even now, Chen Jianxiu retained an air of elegant maturity and professional success.
“You’re Uncle Chen?”
Seeing the watch on Chen Jianxiu’s wrist, Song Yinyin’s eyes lit up—having such an uncle would be a good thing.
“Did your mom ever mention me?”
Chen Jianxiu smiled warmly, and Song Yinyin quickly nodded: “Yes.”
“Get in the car—wherever you need to go, I’ll take you.”
“I…”
Song Yinyin hesitated, wondering whether she should bring Chen Jianxiu along to the hospital.
But Chen Jianxiu’s driver had already gotten out and opened the door for her. She climbed in—and before she could stop herself, she blurted out the name of the hospital.
Chen Jianxiu chuckled. It really was true.
From the moment Bai Ge saw Chen Jianxiu, she knew Song Haichang had been in an accident.
“Yinyin, step outside for a bit.”
Bai Ge had her limits; she couldn’t let Song Yinyin find out too much.
Song Yinyin assumed Bai Ge just wanted some privacy with Chen Jianxiu, so she didn’t think twice and headed out.
Once Song Yinyin was gone, Bai Ge’s face paled—she couldn’t hold it together any longer.
“Song Haichang’s in trouble?”
Bai Ge looked at Chen Jianxiu. She knew he wouldn’t lie to her, but she still wasn’t reassured.
Chen Jianxiu glanced at Bai Ge, then seemed to lose himself in thought.
“I just arranged for someone to drive a car into him. He’s being resuscitated right now—he should be fine. Just a few superficial injuries; it was meant as a lesson. Don’t worry!”
“How could you do such a thing?”
Bai Ge burst into tears, furious. Chen Jianxiu wrapped his arms around her, trying to calm her down.
As their emotions grew intense, they ended up entwined.
Song Qingtian finished organizing the video and left the hospital.
Meanwhile, Song Haichang was hiding inside the hospital, too afraid to come out.
If it hadn’t been for someone warning him that someone was after him and urging him to be on guard—ideally even pretending to be in trouble—he’d already be dead by now.
Just thinking about the car that hit him made Song Haichang tremble.
When he got the call, Song Haichang froze: “You saved me?”
Song Qingtian had changed her voice this time—this time it was a woman’s voice. Song Haichang suspected her identity, but Song Qingtian claimed to be Chen Jianxiu’s wife, with the goal of bringing Chen Jianxiu back.
At first, Song Haichang was skeptical, but since the number was from another province, he reluctantly agreed.
Who would have thought he’d narrowly escaped disaster?
Now Chen Jianxiu’s wife called again, and Song Haichang completely trusted Song Qingtian.
“I’m not saving you—I want to take my husband back. I’ve sent you a video; take a look yourself. Go right now, film them, catch Chen Jianxiu red-handed, and confront him face-to-face. If your wife is after money, she’ll split up with Chen Jianxiu. Then, behind the scenes, I’ll slip you fifty million. After that, you watch your wife closely. That’s it.”
With that, Song Qingtian hung up without waiting for Song Haichang to respond.
Song Haichang thought about the fifty million—and then about how close he’d come to being run over.
The more he thought about it, the colder he felt. If he didn’t get rid of Chen Jianxiu, he’d be dead!
To save his life and secure the fifty million, Song Haichang headed straight for the hospital where Bai Ge was.
And the result…
Song Haichang ended up a broken man!
