Chapter 21: She Ran Away from Home Again
Chapter 21: She Ran Away from Home Again
Far away in a rented room, Song Qingtian suddenly felt a chill down her spine and let out a big yawn.
“Achoo! Who’s scolding me behind my back?”
“Mommy, why did we have to move out of our house?”
Ling Nuonuo, wearing the Doraemon apron that Song Qingtian had bought for her, sat obediently on a little stool, tilting her head curiously as she asked.
Song Qingtian was mopping the floor while smiling and explaining, “Because I promised to take you on an adventure!”
“Mommy, I get it—are we playing hide-and-seek with Daddy?”
“You could say that, too. You’re so smart, sweetheart!”
Ever since Song Qingtian decided to divorce Ling Hanyu, she had already rented a place online in advance.
It was a small two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen and a bathroom—a typical compact yet fully equipped layout.
There was also a small open-air balcony, and outside the bedroom window lay a lush green lawn, creating a very tranquil and fresh atmosphere.
She had been planning this day for a long time.
While Ling Hanyu was taking his parents back to their old family residence, Song Qingtian secretly brought her daughter out.
She just couldn’t bear to leave such a young child behind to live with her stepmother.
It took Song Qingtian nearly two hours to clean the whole house thoroughly.
She opened the window, and a gentle breeze blew in, lifting her hair.
Ah, how wonderful—it felt like freedom!
After finishing up at home, Song Qingtian took her daughter downstairs to the supermarket to buy oil, rice, some vegetables, and meat, planning to cook something delicious for her.
“Mommy, Mommy, there are so many yummy things! Oh, look, there are even some really big fish over there!”
It was Ling Nuonuo’s first time shopping at the supermarket, and everything seemed so new and exciting that she was jumping up and down with excitement.
“Mommy, this is my first time at the supermarket, and it’s so much fun!”
Ling Nuonuo added.
Hearing this, Song Qingtian couldn’t help but smile even more happily. Kids really are easy to please—unlike adults, who have so many messy worries every day.
“How about we have a big lobster for lunch to celebrate?”
“1…8…8…1…2…3…”
Just as Song Qingtian was marveling at all this, she suddenly heard a childish voice counting.
No, it wasn’t counting!
Song Qingtian quickly turned around to look at Ling Nuonuo—and sure enough, Ling Nuonuo had picked up her little phone and was dialing.
“Stop!”
Song Qingtian hurried over to stop Ling Nuonuo.
“That’s your daddy’s number, isn’t it? Don’t you dare call him!”
“But Daddy hasn’t been to the supermarket either. He’ll be happy if he visits for the first time too,” Ling Nuonuo explained earnestly, her big eyes sparkling.
Song Qingtian was starting to feel a bit headache, so she patiently explained, “Right now it’s our game of hide-and-seek. Once Daddy finds us, then the three of us can go to the supermarket together, okay…”
She couldn’t exactly tell him that she and her husband were having problems and shouldn’t reveal their whereabouts to him!
“Roar!”
Ling Nuonuo thought for a moment and nodded.
“Then Mommy goes to buy the lobster, and you stay here and watch the fish.”
“Roar!”
Ling Nuonuo agreed again. As soon as Song Qingtian turned around, she snapped a selfie of herself with the fish and posted it on WeChat Moments.
“Daddy, hurry up and find us! Once we’re done playing hide-and-seek, we can go to the supermarket!”
In Ling Hanyu’s office, he impatiently took a sip of the coffee his assistant had brought over and then slammed the cup down on the desk.
“What kind of ratio is this? It’s so bitter!”
“Huh?”
The assistant’s face turned pale with shock. “You’ve always just drunk black coffee without needing to measure any ratios.”
The coffee was fine!
“Make another cup.”
Ling Hanyu waved his hand irritably, and the assistant was completely flustered.
Back when Mr. Ling’s little troublemaker ran away from home, he never got this upset—so why was he so agitated this time...?
Could it be because he’d taken Mr. Ling’s daughter away?
Hmm, it must be that he’s missing his daughter terribly.
Three minutes later, the assistant brought Ling Hanyu a fresh cup of coffee and said, “Mr. Ling, we’ve found Miss Nuonuo—she’s at the supermarket and just posted a selfie. I’ve compared the layouts of various supermarkets, and this one is on Shili Street.”
