Chapter 288: Go Back with Her

“Hurry up…”

Song Qingtian heard a cacophony of noise and shouts in her ears. She felt herself being dragged from somewhere, followed by the sound of an explosion.

When she suddenly opened her eyes, all she saw was the stark white of a hospital room.

Song Qingtian glanced at the person beside her and sensed something was off.

She seemed perfectly fine—yet the nurse standing there was someone she knew.

It was a classmate from long ago.

“You…”

Song Qingtian wasn’t excited; she just felt strangely bewildered.

Her classmate was in real life—how could she possibly be here?

“We’re old classmates! Don’t you remember? Back in school, we were even desk mates. How could you forget so easily? I remember you got bullied, and I even helped you out,” the nurse said with a teasing smile, though she could tell Song Qingtian had recognized her.

Song Qingtian instinctively looked at her own hands—no injuries, no cuts on her arms—and sat up. It turned out she really was fine.

She rubbed her head and asked her old classmate, “What happened to me?”

“A car accident. You were nearly dead when you were brought in, but we managed to save you—lucky you!”

Song Qingtian nodded blankly. “Lucky indeed!”

“By the way, the driver who hit you has already confessed. He’d been drinking, so he hopes to get a lighter sentence and is willing to pay you some compensation. He’s still outside right now. But there was another person involved too. According to the driver, he doesn’t even know what happened between you two—he’d just gotten into the car when you both appeared, and then the crash occurred.”

“There’s another one?”

“Yeah. His name is Ling Hanyu, but we can’t find any record of him. His ID card says he’s from somewhere else, so we suspect he might be from out of town. Are you two dating?”

“Where is he?”

“He’s in the next room. Just like you, he’s only unconscious!”

Song Qingtian didn’t care about anything else and jumped out of bed immediately.

“Don’t worry, he’s fine.”

“I…”

Song Qingtian turned to look at her old classmate. “What year is this?”

“You’re not suffering from amnesia, are you? It’s 2018!”

Song Qingtian took a deep breath. When she left…

“Thanks. I’m going to see him now.”

She turned around and went to check on Ling Hanyu. As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw that Ling Hanyu was already awake and sitting up.

Next to him, police officers handling the accident were asking who he was and what his name was.

“Sorry, there’s a bit of a mix-up here. He’s my fiancé, and he’s been quite shaken up,” Song Qingtian explained as soon as she walked in.

The officer turned to look at Song Qingtian. “Who are you?”

“I’m Song Qingtian, a graduate of Chengnan University. I started working when I was just a teenager. I grew up as a single child—my parents divorced, and I haven’t been able to contact my mother for a long time.”

The officer gave Ling Hanyu a curious glance. “He looks perfectly normal.”

“His ID was made by someone else. He used to be in a psychiatric hospital, and I’ve been taking care of him ever since. In fact, he’s my college classmate. His name is Qin Xiaotian—Qin from the Qin dynasty, Xiao from ‘small,’ Tian from ‘weather.’ He’s twenty-six years old. Because he’s always immersed in studying, his mind isn’t quite right, and he’s been living in another dimension all along.”

“The police won’t believe you if you ask them what year it is this year,” the officer said.

“What year is it this year?” The officer was half skeptical, half intrigued.

The key point was that the ID looked completely genuine—not fake at all.

Ling Hanyu glanced at Song Qingtian. “It’s 2012!”

The officer exclaimed, “That’s six years off!”

Song Qingtian explained, “He fell ill back in high school. He kept telling me he wanted to go to another dimension, where there were people just like him—but with different identities.”

“We were classmates at the same school, and we were dating. Who would have known he was sick? I thought he was just doing academic research. Then he took a break for a while, came back… and ended up like this.”

“But he insists he’s Ling Hanyu—another person entirely, not Qin Xiaotian.”

“Then bring him in tomorrow and do a thorough investigation into this matter,” the officer said.

“Okay.”

After the officer left, Song Qingtian turned to look at Ling Hanyu.

Ling Hanyu looked at her. “Is there something wrong?”

“No, I’m fine. But maybe… you’re out now.”

“I know.”

Ling Hanyu stood up, stretched a bit, glanced into the room, and then pulled Song Qingtian out.

Song Qingtian followed him, and the two of them slipped out of the hospital as if they were escaping.

In reality, Ling Hanyu was just walking a little faster.

Once they were outside, they got into a taxi.

Looking at the unfamiliar surroundings outside the car, Ling Hanyu couldn’t help but sigh, “So this is what you call ‘the outside’?”

The driver instinctively glanced at the two people in the rearview mirror and thought Ling Hanyu must be ill.
