Chapter 289: Bringing a Man Home
Chapter 289: Bringing a Man Home
Song Qingtian glanced at the Driver—there was no need to explain, nor did she bother to answer.
Song Qingtian gave an address, and the two of them got out there.
As they stepped out of the car, Ling Hanyu asked, “You really live in a place like this?”
Looking at the dilapidated building before him, Ling Hanyu was filled with bewilderment and disdain.
He couldn’t understand why—after all, he’d always thought Song Qingtian was such a hardworking person, someone who knew so much and had such a broad outlook. Even if her background wasn’t exactly privileged, she should still be doing quite well. Her financial situation ought to be decent, too.
But now, looking at this place—what kind of neighborhood was it?
Ling Hanyu turned to look at Song Qingtian, his eyes and face brimming with contempt.
Song Qingtian smiled faintly. “So, do you want to move in or not, Mr. CEO?”
Ling Hanyu’s expression tightened. “Why shouldn’t I? Even if this is a dilapidated building and not worth much, it’s still your property. We’re husband and wife, we have a daughter together, and I’m entitled to half of it. If it’s my own place, even if I don’t live there, it’s still registered in my name.”
Song Qingtian was momentarily taken aback—she really didn’t know what to say.
“I’ve seen shameless people, but I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you!”
Song Qingtian didn’t even bother to argue further; she simply walked straight past Ling Hanyu.
Ling Hanyu followed her.
Song Qingtian lived on the sixth floor, and the climb was a bit exhausting.
Ling Hanyu kept pace with her, taking in the rundown state of the hallway as they went.
He knew that ordinary people’s lives weren’t always perfect, but they certainly weren’t this bad.
As they walked, Ling Hanyu kept glancing at Song Qingtian, his irritation growing. “You claim to be so capable—how could you end up living like this?”
It was as if he were accusing her, as though he were her ex-husband who’d paid plenty in alimony, yet she hadn’t used it wisely at all—instead, she’d just thrown it away.
Song Qingtian had read stories like this since she was little, but she’d never imagined it would actually happen to her.
Still, her ex-husband had at least left her some money; but this man right in front of her…
What had he given her?
Song Qingtian stopped at the door, a trace of melancholy furrowing her brow.
Ling Hanyu noticed something was off and looked at her. “What’s wrong? Are you mad?”
Song Qingtian was indeed furious—but…
“We’ve both come all the way here, both in spirit and in body. There’s no doubt something’s happened over there. If it were just one of us, maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal. But clearly that’s not the case. Now that we’re both here, are we supposed to rely on Aunt Chen to protect Nuonuo?”
“…Nothing will happen.”
Ling Hanyu said that nothing would happen, but deep down, he wasn’t so sure. He felt terrible, too. The worry in his eyes was impossible to hide.
Song Qingtian was livid. “Let me tell you—when I told you not to donate all your assets, where’s Nuonuo now? Is she even able to eat? Has she been kicked out?”
“I don’t have any money—yet you do. Have you been skimping on your spending lately?”
“A bit, yes—but the Song Family will definitely keep an eye on me. They’ve already seized my parents’ property; do you really think they’ll leave anything for Nuonuo? What if Song Yinyin steps in now, pretending to protect her and snatching away custody? Then Nuonuo will be a Cinderella—living under someone else’s roof and getting bullied by a bunch of so-called ‘sisters.’ What kind of father are you, anyway?”
