Chapter 29: A “Gou Nanren” Is Always a “Gou Nanren”

As her consciousness gradually returned, Song Qingtian heard a beeping sound—“beep, beep”—in her ear.

She slowly opened her eyes and was immediately met with a blinding white light.

Song Qingtian gently closed her eyes again and then opened them once more.

After repeating this several times, she finally adjusted to the room’s lighting.

The outlines in her field of vision went from blurry to clear. She anxiously tried to find Nuonuo, only to see Ling Hanyu standing by the hospital bed.

At that moment, his brow was furrowed, and his expression was profoundly serious.

“Where’s Nuonuo?” Song Qingtian asked, her voice hoarse with concern.

“Nuonuo is still in the emergency/resuscitation room,” Ling Hanyu replied, his own voice equally hoarse.

Song Qingtian forced herself to ignore the discomfort in her body and tried to sit up. Every nerve in her body was screaming in pain, reminding her that she was now a patient.

But right now, she simply couldn’t care about any of that. All she wanted was to make sure Nuonuo was safe.

“You’re extremely weak right now and need to rest quietly—don’t move,” Ling Hanyu said, his tone as cold as ever, though there was a hint of concern hidden deep in his eyes…

Song Qingtian threw back the covers and tried to get out of bed, but Ling Hanyu quickly caught her arm.

She looked up and met his icy, piercing gaze.

“What are you doing!” he asked in a low, strained voice, his brow tightly knit.

“I want to see Nuonuo!” Song Qingtian’s eyes darted around for a moment before locking onto Ling Hanyu’s face. She spoke each word deliberately and firmly: “I have to see Nuonuo!”

Every time she closed her eyes now, the image of Nuonuo lying motionless in a coma would flash before her mind—so still, like a Barbie doll.

She couldn’t rest easy until she saw Nuonuo with her own eyes!

She pushed Ling Hanyu aside and lunged toward the door.

Her speed was so great that her head spun, her body wobbled, and Ling Hanyu quickly grabbed her to steady her.

“Slow down! The doctor said you have a mild concussion—you’d better stay in bed…”
“But how can I stay in bed if I can’t see Nuonuo!” Song Qingtian snapped, pushing him away and stumbling out the door.

Ling Hanyu hurried after her, his handsome face etched with an unspoken complexity.

Song Qingtian asked a nurse and stumbled all the way to the entrance of the emergency/resuscitation room, her shoes even falling off. She stared at the three big characters above the operating room and collapsed onto the chair outside, utterly drained.

She desperately wanted to bang on the door and ask the doctor how Nuonuo was doing, but reason told her she shouldn’t.

Song Qingtian curled herself into a tight ball, hugging her knees and burying her head between them. She thought of Nuonuo, who was like an angel, always trying to please her and clinging to her with a touch of insecurity.

She thought of how Nuonuo had chosen to follow her everywhere, even though she really wanted to be with Ling Hanyu.

It was all because of Ling Hanyu—the “gou nanren.” If he hadn’t been so obsessive, constantly talking about divorce yet never going through with it, none of this would have happened!

Thinking of this, Song Qingtian suddenly raised her head, her eyes red and blazing as she glared at Ling Hanyu.

“Ling Hanyu, why won’t you believe me? I told you Nuonuo was missing, and yet you stubbornly locked me up. Why are you always so arrogant? Do you think the whole world is under your control?”

Song Qingtian’s voice was too loud, causing her wound to ache. She frowned and rested for a while, then continued, her voice much softer this time, filled with endless desolation.

“I know why you won’t agree to Divorce. You must think I’m just playing games, leading you on and then pulling away. Heh… Ling Hanyu, I’m really tired. All I want is to take Nuonuo and leave. If anything happens to Nuonuo, I’ll never let you off the hook!”
