Chapter 30: All My Little Money Has Flown Away
Song Qingtian searched left and right, finally finding the bag she’d been carrying on her shoulder in the corner of the sofa. After all, that bag always contained something extremely important!
The divorce agreement!
And there were two copies—one provided earlier by Ling Hanyu, and the other written by Song Qingtian herself when she decided she wanted a divorce, to demonstrate her resolve.
It had to be said that Ling Hanyu, that dog of a man, was quite generous. In his divorce agreement, he seemed either eager to get rid of Song Qingtian as quickly as possible or keen to show off how wealthy he was. The agreement handed over cars, houses, cash—and even a 12% stake in the Ling Group.
Good heavens, how much money was that? Song Qingtian could hardly wrap her head around it.
She had to do the math!
After leaving the hospital, Ling Hanyu went straight home. Seeing him return alone, Aunt Chen was about to ask where Song Qingtian and Ling Nuonuo were, but when she saw the cold, stern look on his face, she didn’t dare utter a single word. She watched him storm into the study, slamming the door so hard it shook the whole house, which gave her quite a fright.
Inside the study, Ling Hanyu picked up the documents on the desk and glanced at them twice, but couldn’t concentrate. His mind was consumed by Song Qingtian, and he kept hearing her words from the hospital:
“Damn it!”
Ling Hanyu muttered under his breath, then angrily tossed the papers back onto the desk and rubbed his forehead in frustration.
“This stupid woman—does she ever think about anything other than divorce?”
Was she really so unwilling to be with him?
Just then, there was a sudden knock at the study door. Ling Hanyu responded coldly, and the door was gently pushed open.
Secretary Yang had come to deliver some documents, but as soon as he entered, he sensed the heavy tension in the room. He placed the papers on the desk and quickly shot Secretary Yang a sidelong glance.
“Anything else?”
A sharp glare swept over him, and Secretary Yang shrank back. “N-no… nothing.”
“It’s just a reminder that you need to go to the Company for a meeting.”
“Cancel it.”
Sure enough!
Secretary Yang replied softly and quickly slipped out of the study. No doubt this was yet another matter concerning Madam. Just as he was wondering how best to persuade his boss, his phone suddenly buzzed with a message.
It was a short video sent by the person he’d arranged to watch over Song Qingtian and Nuonuo at the hospital. Song Qingtian was sitting on the sofa, staring at the divorce agreement, tears streaming down her face, muttering something under her breath while alternately laughing and crying.
Suddenly, Secretary Yang felt he’d saved the day. Summoning his courage, he knocked on the study door again.
“President, we just got word from the hospital that Madam is secretly crying while looking at the divorce agreement!”
“Crying?”
A spark of light instantly lit up Ling Hanyu’s eyes.
Seeing his reaction, Secretary Yang felt a bit more confident.
“Yes, she’s crying terribly. I’m sure she doesn’t really want a divorce either. Look, they even recorded a video!”
Secretary Yang promptly handed over his phone, and Ling Hanyu snorted, pretending not to notice as he casually glanced at it.
Sure enough, Song Qingtian was indeed crying while staring at the divorce agreement.
At that moment, every pore on Ling Hanyu’s body seemed to fill with comfort. He would give her a chance to win him over.
“Get the car ready—let’s go to the Company for the meeting.”
Although his tone remained icy, Ling Hanyu’s expression had already noticeably softened.
No sooner had he stepped out the door than he paused, furrowing his brow slightly before smoothing it out again.
“Go ahead and buy some snacks that Nuonuo loves—buy plenty.”
“Yes.”
Secretary Yang couldn’t help but smile. It looked like the President was heading back to the hospital again.
Back at the hospital, Song Qingtian sat on the edge of the bed, clutching two copies of the divorce agreement, her face etched with sorrow. She pouted, tears streaming down her cheeks—so heartbroken that an outsider might actually think she couldn’t bear to part with the marriage.
Beneath her tightly furrowed brow, her clear eyes did indeed betray a hint of reluctance—but not toward Ling Hanyu. What she couldn’t bear to let go of was the money that was now within reach!
The divorce agreement in her left hand was one she’d drafted herself, while the one in her right was handed to her by Ling Hanyu.
