Chapter 31: Don’t Even Think About Winning Me Over
After finishing his conversation with Qin Zhengxiao, Ling Hanyu looked at Qin’s dejected expression and felt immensely pleased.
He turned his gaze toward Song Qingtian, deliberately suppressing the joy in his heart as he gave her a cold, aloof glance.
“Since getting a divorce from me makes you so miserable, I might just reconsider withdrawing this divorce agreement.”
With that, he glanced again at Qin Zhengxiao, a hint of smugness lurking in the corner of his eyes, a slight smirk playing on his lips—a touch of provocation. Then he reached out to grab the divorce agreement, and Song Qingtian’s heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, she stepped in front of the table to block him.
“It’s not like that! I’m crying because…”
Song Qingtian wanted to tell the truth, but she was afraid it would tarnish her image in the eyes of the “god-like” man. She had already handed over a divorce agreement that only stipulated her personal property; now, to cry over money? Wouldn’t that be slapping herself in the face? What if the “god-like” man thought she was greedy?
Her hand instinctively reached for the divorce agreement on the table, intending to hide it—but Ling Hanyu caught the move.
Ling Hanyu’s brow tightened as he took a quick step forward and seized Song Qingtian’s wrist.
“What are you hiding?”
His cold, piercing voice carried an accusatory edge as he fixed his gaze on the hand she’d tucked behind her back.
Song Qingtian nervously tried to evade his stare.
“Nothing, nothing at all—just some random scribbles.”
“Then what are you afraid of?” Ling Hanyu narrowed his eyes, exuding an aura of danger.
“Hand it over!”
Ling Hanyu’s sharp command sent a shiver down Song Qingtian’s spine.
Reluctantly, she extended her hand while muttering under her breath, “Fine, take it—why are you yelling?”
Ling Hanyu scanned the papers, his expression growing darker by the moment.
Besides the two divorce agreements, there was also a sheet of draft paper covered in tiny writing, listing every single loss Song Qingtian claimed she’d suffered due to her主动提出离婚. There was even a chibi-style cartoon drawing next to it, depicting Song Qingtian with a wailing face, accompanied by text.
“So you wouldn’t agree to the divorce before because you were mad at money?”
Ling Hanyu flung the pages back into Song Qingtian’s arms, his anger boiling over in an instant.
“Just great!”
He had actually believed this woman’s change of heart was because she couldn’t bear to part with him, which is why she’d been crying so bitterly. But in the end, her tears were really just because she was worried about money?!
Thinking about how smug he’d been just moments ago, he could almost throw Song Qingtian out the window.
“Mr. Ling sure has a lot of confidence in himself,” Qin Zhengxiao chimed in, eager to fan the flames further.
Ling Hanyu shot Qin a cold glare.
“We don’t need Mr. Qin’s opinion on matters between husband and wife. Is Mr. Qin’s company bankrupt or something, since he’s got so much free time?”
“That’s none of your business, Mr. Ling,” Qin retorted.
The two men locked gazes, neither willing to back down, while Song Qingtian stood in the middle, clutching her chest, feeling as though she’d be roasted alive if they started emitting electricity.
Although Secretary Yang hadn’t seen what Song Qingtian had written on the paper, judging by their reactions, it certainly wasn’t anything good.
Realizing he’d been the one who lured Ling Hanyu here, he quietly slipped out, putting as much distance as possible between himself and this hotbed of trouble.
Ling Hanyu’s icy gaze swept back and forth between Song Qingtian and Qin Zhengxiao, his eyebrows slightly raised.
“I’ll come pick you and Nuonuo up from the hospital tomorrow and take you home.”
He emphasized the word “home” and cast a faint, disdainful glance at Qin Zhengxiao, as if asserting his dominance.
With those words, Ling Hanyu stormed out of the hospital room.
Outside the room, the secretary noticed Ling Hanyu’s grim expression and knew things weren’t looking good. He didn’t dare say a word, doing his best to remain inconspicuous.
