Chapter 305: Glad to Keep You Company
Chapter 305: Glad to Keep You Company
Song Qingtian never expected to run into Shen Conghao.
After all, she had been in a vegetative state for so long that, to most people, her condition seemed irreversible.
Even if Shen Conghao still wanted to stay, it would be impossible.
After all this time, what was he waiting for?
Song Qingtian asked, “Mr. Shen, do I look like I’m in trouble?”
“No.”
Shen Conghao’s voice trembled with emotion as he shook his head.
Song Qingtian knew he was worried about her.
“I’m fine now. Thanks for your concern these past few days, Nuonuo… Uncle Shen…”
“Don’t! Nuonuo, don’t be bad!”
Ling Nuonuo burst into tears after saying this, sobbing as if Shen Conghao were going to eat her alive.
Tears streamed down her face one after another, making her little face look utterly pitiful.
Song Qingtian was completely baffled. She comforted her daughter while glancing at Shen Conghao, utterly perplexed.
“Did you scare Nuonuo?”
“When would I have scared Nuonuo? Nuonuo… Uncle even saved you last time—have you forgotten?”
Shen Conghao hurried over to explain, but the more he tried, the worse Ling Nuonuo reacted when she saw him. She cried even more desperately, her sobs tearing at her very soul!
Uncle Lin said, “Why don’t we get in the car first? This gentleman… regardless of whether there’s any misunderstanding, it’s best to separate for now and wait until we’ve cleared things up.”
Upon hearing this, Song Qingtian agreed. It was indeed necessary to get to the bottom of things—after all, her daughter wasn’t being unreasonable; there was no way she’d cry like this for no reason.
Not finding out what was going on would only make things worse for her daughter later.
Once they were in the car, Song Qingtian spent a long time soothing Nuonuo and asking her what had happened.
Ling Nuonuo seemed a bit better when she couldn’t see Shen Conghao.
But she was still very frightened, clutching Song Qingtian’s neck tightly with her little hands, sniffling and pressing her tiny face against Song Qingtian’s.
Only after Nuonuo had stopped crying did Song Qingtian ask, “Nuonuo, tell Mommy—did Uncle Shen bully you? Did he even come to our house while I wasn’t around?”
Song Qingtian suspected that perhaps Shen Conghao had visited their home after her accident, which had scared Nuonuo.
Although she hadn’t known Shen Conghao for long, she did have some idea of who he was: he helped catch criminal suspects, so he couldn’t be all that bad.
Uncle Lin chimed in, “This Mr. Shen did visit the villa. He heard about the Young Madam and Mr. Ling, so he started showing up, wanting to meet the Young Madam. But we were worried he might have ulterior motives, so we didn’t let him meet her.
Still, he’s been a big help—he drove away many reporters and even said that anyone who dared to barge into the villa would face serious consequences.
The reporters were all afraid of him, which saved us a lot of trouble.
As for Nuonuo, how could she not have met him? Ever since Secretary Yang’s incident, we’ve been extremely careful protecting Nuonuo.
If it hadn’t been for Song Yinyin forcing her way into the villa today, nothing would have happened.”
Song Qingtian began to understand, but she was even more puzzled.
“Nuonuo, Mommy can help you, but you have to tell Mommy exactly what happened.”
Hearing this, Ling Nuonuo whispered in Song Qingtian’s ear that in her dream, Shen Conghao had hurt them—Daddy was dead!
There was blood everywhere.
Song Qingtian turned to look at her daughter, her heart full of mixed emotions.
Ling Nuonuo was crying bitterly, feeling deeply wronged.
“Mommy, Nuonuo doesn’t like Uncle Shen—he’s a bad person! Nuonuo wants Daddy!”
Ling Nuonuo cried uncontrollably, utterly aggrieved.
Song Qingtian recalled the days before the car accident, when Ling Nuonuo suddenly wanted to go home and find Ling Hanyu.
She had never really understood what was going on back then.
Now she realized it was all because she was too worried.
That’s why she didn’t like Uncle Shen.
After Song Qingtian comforted her daughter for a while, Nuonuo finally got out of the car.
Ling Nuonuo seemed much calmer after someone talked to her.
Even after getting out of the car, she kept watching Shen Conghao.
Shen Conghao looked completely innocent—he didn’t even know what had happened, let alone why he’d made little Nuonuo so upset.
The moment she saw him, she burst into tears as if he were her enemy.
Song Qingtian felt a bit embarrassed: “Nuonuo misses Daddy so much. Coincidentally, Mr. Shen helped us before, and in her dream she saw him hurting Daddy and lots of blood flying everywhere. She was so scared that she acted like this.”
“Oh!”
Shen Conghao didn’t dare say a word.
Looking at Ling Nuonuo, he explained, “Uncle swears he’ll never hurt Nuonuo’s Daddy.”
After Song Qingtian’s explanation, Ling Nuonuo realized she’d done something she shouldn’t have. She nodded.
Ling Nuonuo lowered her head sheepishly, fiddling with her little hands.
Shen Conghao breathed a sigh of relief—now that everything was clear, he could relax.
“Nuonuo, want Uncle to hold you?”
Shen Conghao stepped forward, thinking he’d finally cleared up the misunderstanding.
But Ling Nuonuo still refused, turning around to cling to Song Qingtian and refusing to let go.
Song Qingtian had other things to attend to, so she patted her daughter’s soft little body and said, “Mr. Shen will probably be heading back soon. How about I invite him in for a soak instead?”
Song Qingtian’s suggestion came as quite a surprise. Shen Conghao glanced toward the spa area.
Though somewhat taken aback, he was happy to oblige as long as he could spend time with Song Qingtian.
As for Song Qingtian, what she was thinking at that moment was: What an expression Ling Hanyu would surely wear when he saw her and Shen Conghao getting a massage together!
