Chapter 40: An Inescapable Fate

Song Yinyin suddenly felt she had been tricked. Song Qingtian had always adored Ling Hanyu—how could she possibly be so kind as to willingly give him to her?

By acting this way now, she not only exposed to Ling Hanyu that he’d harbored improper intentions toward her, but also reaped the benefits without lifting a finger. What a clever double blow!

Song Yinyin stamped her foot and stormed off in anger. No—she had to think of a way to win Ling Hanyu back. But Song Qingtian still held that recording in her hands…

On her way home, Song Yinyin kept pondering what to do. Yet after much thought, she still couldn’t come up with a solution—she was utterly crushed and desperate.

As for Song Qingtian, as soon as Ling Hanyu scooped her up and carried her into the Bedroom, he tossed her onto the bed.

Song Qingtian immediately grabbed the blanket, wrapped herself up tight, and curled into the corner where the headboard met the wall, eyes darting warily at Ling Hanyu.

“Ling Hanyu, what are you trying to do? Didn’t you say you were going to the Study?”

“What am I trying to do? Song Qingtian, have you even stopped to think about what you’ve done? Huh? Do you need me to remind you?”

Song Qingtian’s mind raced. It seemed this “gou nanren” had fallen for her trap—but that didn’t make sense. Song Yinyin had practically delivered him right to her doorstep; why would he settle for second best by driving Song Yinyin away and coming straight for her instead?

Still, she absolutely couldn’t let on that she knew what was going on—otherwise she’d give herself away!

“So what do you think I did? Ling Hanyu, I’ve been staying home obediently, taking care of the kids. What have I done?”

“What’s going on with Song Yinyin? She just went to the Study…”

Ling Hanyu had originally intended to say that Song Yinyin had gone to the Study to seduce him, but those two words were far too explicit—he wasn’t keen on saying them. Besides, Song Qingtian was dead set on getting a divorce now, and he didn’t want to leave her with any leverage.

But Song Qingtian was fired up. She sprang to her feet, hands on her hips, looking every bit the shrewish wife.

“What was she doing in the Study just now? Ling Hanyu, have you done something shameful to me? Fine! You’ve gotten together with my sister, and yet you’re treating me like this—I’m done living!”

With that, Song Qingtian burst into tears and wailed as she dashed for the door.

“My life is so miserable! My husband’s having an affair with my sister… I…”

“Song Qingtian, shut up!”

Ling Hanyu was so infuriated by Song Qingtian that he lost all composure. He’d only planned to scare her a little and find out what exactly she wanted—but instead, she’d turned the tables on him.

Just as Song Qingtian was about to bolt, Ling Hanyu swiftly slammed the door shut with one hand, trapping her between himself and the door.

Song Qingtian still tried to break free, but Ling Hanyu held her fast, keeping her pinned in place.

“Turn around.”

Ling Hanyu’s voice was laced with impatience. Song Qingtian knew that this standoff was pointless, so she reluctantly turned around—just as she was about to start spouting more nonsense, his lips sealed hers.

Though he was furious, his kiss was surprisingly tender, because he truly didn’t know how to handle Song Qingtian anymore.

He couldn’t simply fling the divorce agreement at her like before, nor could he bear to watch her continue playing the drama queen and fooling him.

All Ling Hanyu could do was quiet her down this way.

Song Qingtian desperately tried to push him away, but her damned hands wouldn’t obey—instead, they clung to his waist. As their bodies pressed together, she felt as if her very soul were about to leave her body.

Sensing Song Qingtian’s change, Ling Hanyu broke the kiss, cupped her face in his hands, and looked at her with a hint of helplessness.
