Chapter 46: Giving Up on Everything
Chapter 46: Giving Up on Everything
Ling Hanyu glared coldly at Song Qingtian and Zheng Boheng, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
Upon hearing Ling Hanyu’s call—and sensing the oppressive aura radiating from him—Zheng Boheng desperately tried to wrench himself free from Song Qingtian’s grasp. But Song Qingtian only held on even tighter.
“What are you so flustered about? Where’s the courage you once had to encourage me to get a divorce and run off with you to a happy life?”
Hearing Song Qingtian’s words, Ling Hanyu’s previously unwavering conviction that she hadn’t been unfaithful began to waver. He’d always assumed that even if she did divorce him, it would be for Qin Zhengxiao. Could it really be that she’d developed something with this Zheng Boheng?
The thought sent a chill down his spine, and he fixed an icy glare on Song Qingtian.
“Why are you so protective of this man? Just how far have you two gone?”
“Sleeping together!” Song Qingtian blurted out, proudly puffing out her chest.
Ling Hanyu’s eyes seemed to be laced with poison as he slowly approached her. With every step he took, it felt as though he were stomping right on her heart. As he drew nearer, Song Qingtian’s heart pounded wildly; if she hadn’t been clutching Zheng Boheng’s arm, she might have fainted from sheer fright.
“Sleeping together?” Ling Hanyu stopped just half a step away from Song Qingtian, looking down at her from above.
“No! I wasn’t finished speaking earlier—I meant, did we sleep together or not? Of course we didn’t! After all, we’re not even divorced yet. I still have some basic moral底线, hahaha…”
Song Qingtian figured that if she kept rambling like this, she’d probably end up in a vegetative state before she even got pregnant—and right now, Ling Hanyu might strangle her to death.
Just as the tension between them reached its most awkward peak, Ling Hanyu’s phone buzzed incessantly.
Song Qingtian let out a huge sigh of relief and then, as if miraculously saved from disaster, patted her C-cup bosom.
“Mr. Ling, we’ve thoroughly investigated Zheng Boheng’s background. His family lives in Chengnan District. His mother works at a chemical factory, and his father has been paralyzed from the waist up in a traffic accident years ago. He also has two younger sisters—one just graduated and is looking for a job, while the other is a freshman in college. And his grandfather is currently hospitalized…”
When Ling Hanyu answered the call, he switched the speakerphone on. Zheng Boheng listened as Secretary Yang painstakingly relayed his information, his face growing increasingly terrified.
“Then let his mother lose her job, make sure his sister can’t find work, and force the college student to drop out. As for his grandfather, kick him out of the hospital immediately.”
Ling Hanyu said this in a calm, detached tone, casually staring at Song Qingtian and Zheng Boheng—as if they were discussing something as mundane as whether to go out for dinner together.
This time, it wasn’t just Zheng Boheng who was shaken; even Song Qingtian was thrown into a panic.
“What exactly is going on between you two?” Ling Hanyu asked again.
Song Qingtian wanted to insist there was nothing between them, but realizing that things had already spiraled this far, backing down now would be a colossal waste of opportunity. So she stubbornly pressed on:
“We kissed… did we? No! We didn’t kiss!”
Before she could finish, Ling Hanyu lifted her chin, and she quickly corrected herself:
“Actually, we were just standing across the street from each other and exchanged a glance! There’s absolutely no relationship between us!”
“That’s right, that’s right! That’s exactly what happened—and when we made that glance, I even had my eyes closed!”
Zheng Boheng hurriedly added, and Ling Hanyu let out another cold laugh upon hearing their explanation.
“You can fall madly in love just by looking at each other with your eyes closed? Are you attracted to one another by scent?”
“I’m lying! In fact, I was hired by Song…”
“He was hired by me! I wanted a divorce, but you wouldn’t agree, so I brought him in instead!”
