Chapter 48: The Love Agreement
Chapter 48: The Love Agreement
Ling Hanyu suddenly felt that the early part of this book closely mirrored his own dynamic with Song Qingtian—except that he simply couldn’t accept the later plot developments.
His brow furrowed even more deeply, and then he forced himself to open another book—“The Mansion Boss’s Spoiled Wife: Please Exercise Restraint.”
This one was even more far-fetched: it told the story of a male lead who suspects the female lead of hurting his “white moonlight,” so right from the start they have a huge fight, after which he hands her a divorce agreement. If she refuses to sign, he starts tormenting her.
The elaborate abuse of the wife made Ling Hanyu feel extremely uncomfortable. Just as he was about to give up, he suddenly saw that the female lead had made a request:
“If the male lead can genuinely date her for three months, she’ll agree to the divorce and hand over the position of ‘Mansion Madam’ to the male lead’s white moonlight.”
The male lead has no choice but to agree. But in the end, he actually falls in love with the female lead during those three months—while she, on the contrary, grows cold and signs the divorce agreement before leaving. After that, it’s the classic “Wife-Chasing Crematorium” scenario.
Ling Hanyu thought that although this book was pretty absurd and the male lead was really foolish—for believing a woman who was obviously just trying to deceive him and hurting the female lead—and that the eventual “Wife-Chasing Crematorium” ending was totally deserved.
Still, the female lead’s proposal of dating for three months wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
Ling Hanyu realized that while his relationship with Song Qingtian wasn’t exactly the reverse of what happened in this book, he really didn’t want to give up on her either.
Because he found that, without even realizing it, he’d already been drawn to Song Qingtian.
Once he’d made up his mind, Ling Hanyu quickly put those books away and shoved them way into the back of the bookshelf, looking as if he were afraid someone might find out he’d been reading them.
After hiding the books, Ling Hanyu reverted to his usual aloof CEO persona and dialed Secretary Yang’s number.
“Secretary Yang, please prepare a three-month dating agreement for me.”
On the other end of the line, Secretary Yang was completely taken aback by Ling Hanyu’s request.
“For whom?”
“What do you think?”
Hearing Ling Hanyu’s icy tone, Secretary Yang shuddered. As an all-around secretary, how could he possibly ask such a silly question? So he immediately clarified the situation and, after Ling Hanyu hung up, began frantically scratching his head, pondering what to do.
This three-month dating agreement was really too vague. With no other choice, he had to turn to Xiao Du for help.
As soon as he searched for “dating agreement,” all sorts of results popped up. Secretary Yang scrolled through them one by one, desperately trying to find something suitable for Ling Hanyu and Song Qingtian.
He was convinced that Song Qingtian must have been up to something again, coming up with such a dating demand for Ling Hanyu. So when drafting the agreement, he directly treated Ling Hanyu as the party obligated to carry out the terms and Song Qingtian as the party entitled to benefits.
He listed more than thirty different rules for the agreement and poured his heart and soul into writing all kinds of fun and amusing punishments.
When he finished, Secretary Yang couldn’t help but marvel at how versatile he was. He happily sent the electronic version of the agreement to Ling Hanyu and then texted him:
“Boss Ling, I’ve sent the agreement to your email. Please take a look and let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to add or revise.”
After sending the message, he waited eagerly for Ling Hanyu to praise him—he thought the agreement he’d drafted was absolutely fantastic!
But just a few minutes later, Ling Hanyu replied:
“The roles of Party A and Party B need to be switched, and the punishment methods need to be revised!”
Secretary Yang felt as if his very soul were being tortured. So now the entire tense of the agreement had undergone a dramatic transformation? Previously, Song Qingtian was chasing after Ling Hanyu; now it’s Ling Hanyu who’s pursuing Song Qingtian?
