Chapter 87: You Went to the Hospital
Chapter 87: You Went to the Hospital
Qin Xiaotian stared at Song Qingtian, who had collapsed before him, his expression growing grim.
“How did she know his name?”
“Boss, you…”
A Xiu rushed back from outside. Qin Xiaotian turned his face away and said coldly, “Get out.”
A Xiu only caught a glimpse of Qin Xiaotian’s profile. She knew that anyone who had seen the boss was dead; if she were to see his face, it would be a grave taboo. So she quickly turned around and left.
Once A Xiu was gone, Qin Xiaotian covered his face with a mask and picked up Song Qingtian from the ground, carrying her away.
When Song Qingtian woke up, she was in the hospital, having been shot in the arm. However, the bullet had only grazed her arm, so she didn’t have to worry about an unsightly scar from having it removed. All that remained was a burn mark on her arm.
Song Qingtian looked at A Xiu, who was explaining things so casually—just a burn mark, as if the injury wasn’t even on her body, but rather on her arm. Wasn’t that terribly ugly?
She was utterly frustrated! Still, since she’d decided to go back, not losing her life was already a good thing.
Song Qingtian said to A Xiu, “I understand now. Thank you for telling me.”
A Xiu pursed her lips, feeling deeply unsettled. Why was it Song Qingtian who had saved someone, while she had merely gone out for a meal? If she’d known, she wouldn’t have gone out at all. Song Qingtian had gotten off easy.
Song Qingtian glanced at the mysterious big shot sitting nearby—he was there too. This was a hospital, after all. Wearing such a flashy outfit in broad daylight, complete with a mask… wasn’t that a bit too conspicuous?
“You should leave first, to avoid causing any inconvenience,” Song Qingtian said, feeling slightly uncomfortable. She had already seen the mysterious man’s face—it was exactly like her first love.
Although she was very curious about what the mysterious man’s name was, she thought… no need!
They just happened to look alike; that doesn’t mean anything.
“This is my hospital,” Qin Xiaotian spoke up, catching Song Qingtian off guard.
She looked at Qin Xiaotian, completely speechless. His voice was identical to her first love’s.
“A Xiu, you can leave now!” Qin Xiaotian ordered immediately, and A Xiu had no choice but to go.
As the door to the ward closed, Song Qingtian glanced at her bandaged arm. It didn’t seem like a serious injury—just a bit of burning pain where the bullet had grazed her skin. Of course it would hurt to be wounded, so there was no need to make a big deal out of it. After all, it had been a gunfight; not dying was already a blessing. So she had indeed narrowly escaped death.
After A Xiu left, Song Qingtian got up from the bed and sat down. At that moment, Qin Xiaotian frowned slightly at her, clearly displeased. “Why are you getting up?”
“I should go back now,” Song Qingtian replied, standing up and putting on her shoes before preparing to leave.
But when she reached the door, she hurried back. “Um… I didn’t see anything. Just pretend we don’t know each other. As for the orphanage matter, you don’t have to take it seriously—just think I was joking.”
With that, Song Qingtian bolted out the door, terrified of being linked to Qin Xiaotian in any way.
Once Song Qingtian was gone, Qin Xiaotian finally turned toward the doorway. By then, she had already left. Stepping out of the ward, Qin Xiaotian looked down the hallway, where A Xiu stood, looking quite upset. “Boss…”
“No need to follow me anymore starting today. Go home.”
“But…”
“No ‘buts.’”
Qin Xiaotian wouldn’t tolerate any objections. A Xiu didn’t dare say another word. This time, she bore direct responsibility for the incident; even if she didn’t leave, she wouldn’t have a peaceful day ahead. But why let Song Qingtian off so easily!
By the time Song Qingtian returned home, it was already dark. She assumed Ling Hanyu hadn’t come back yet—after all, Aunt Chen hadn’t called, and she’d checked her phone but saw no incoming call display. When she reached the villa, she even took a special look outside, making sure she didn’t spot Ling Hanyu’s car. Only then did she feel relieved enough to go inside.
But as soon as she stepped through the door, she noticed a pair of shoes by the entrance. She was certain she hadn’t seen them when she left.
“Madam… Mr. has returned,” Aunt Chen said, visibly worried upon seeing Song Qingtian. She hadn’t had a chance to call and inform the madam at all today.
Song Qingtian entered weakly, glancing toward Ling Hanyu as if nothing had happened.
“Mr. Ling is back?”
Ling Hanyu had just returned as well, spending time playing with his daughter. Ling Nuonuo hurried over to Song Qingtian, her little legs practically wishing they could grow longer in an instant.
“Mommy, Daddy bought me a doll!” Ling Nuonuo pounced onto Song Qingtian’s lap, begging for a hug.
Song Qingtian glanced at Ling Hanyu, gritting her teeth against the pain as she picked up her daughter and sat down on the sofa.
As soon as Song Qingtian sat down, Ling Hanyu sensed something was off and looked at her. “You went to the hospital?”
Song Qingtian froze. What should she do? She’d been discovered!
