Chapter 88: The Extra Bonus Question
Chapter 88: The Extra Bonus Question
“Mommy, did you go to the hospital for a sprain?”
Ling Nuonuo was practically a divine assist—just when Song Qingtian didn’t know what to do, Ling Nuonuo suddenly asked her.
Only then did Song Qingtian narrowly escape disaster.
“I just went for a quick visit.”
Without even looking up, Song Qingtian kept her head down, deep in thought. Why had Ling Hanyu come back so suddenly?
But as Song Qingtian was pondering, she noticed several documents on the table, labeled “Power of Attorney,” “Inheritance,” and the like.
“What’s this?”
For some reason, Song Qingtian immediately thought of the Song Family’s inheritance.
Moreover, there were reports in the media that Ling Hanyu had recently been working on the Song Family’s estate.
So Song Qingtian naturally assumed it was about the Song Family’s inheritance.
“The inheritance has already been secured. You’re now the direct beneficiary—just sign here, and I’ll hold onto it for you temporarily.”
The first part of what he said thrilled Song Qingtian, but the second part was simply laughable.
Song Qingtian lost all interest and turned to Ling Hanyu. “I’m a bit tired today; I’m going to rest now.”
She got up and carried her daughter upstairs.
Ling Nuonuo was well-behaved and sensible, and lately she’d grown even fonder of Mommy.
Whatever Mommy asked her to do, she did without question.
Ling Nuonuo wrapped her little arms around Song Qingtian, her tiny face resting on Song Qingtian’s shoulder, her big, beautiful eyes fixed on Daddy downstairs.
Daddy’s bad—Mommy got hurt and didn’t come home, only coming back when she’s better.
She wasn’t paying any attention to Daddy anymore.
Other kids’ moms get sick, but their daddies are always at home; they’re all so good. Only Daddy isn’t.
Ling Nuonuo’s values were simple and straightforward: Mommy is everything.
Wherever Mommy is, there’s Ling Nuonuo; wherever Mommy goes, she goes too.
In just three short days, Ling Nuonuo had completely switched sides.
Back in the bedroom, Song Qingtian put Ling Nuonuo down. She was actually relieved about one thing: her period had arrived.
Just moments ago, she’d been worried Ling Hanyu might do something to her—but now she didn’t have to worry anymore.
Ling Hanyu was a man with obsessive-compulsive tendencies; even if he were utterly depraved, he wouldn’t do something like that under these circumstances.
Thinking of this, Song Qingtian sat down and looked at Ling Nuonuo, who was clinging to her. “Mommy, Nuonuo’s sleepy.”
Song Qingtian stood up and began walking around the bedroom, cradling her little daughter like a soft ball of rice.
Ling Nuonuo loved nothing more than falling asleep on Song Qingtian’s shoulder and being gently put down once she’d drifted off.
This habit had only developed since yesterday.
Before, Song Qingtian’s legs weren’t very steady, and Ling Nuonuo would get exhausted—sometimes bringing Song Qingtian fruit, sometimes holding a cup to help her drink water.
After Song Qingtian recovered yesterday, Ling Nuonuo asked for something, and she said she wanted to sleep on Mommy’s shoulder.
Song Qingtian remembered reading in a novel that Ling Nuonuo had lacked maternal love since childhood, leaving her feeling insecure; even on her deathbed, she still longed to sleep on her mother’s shoulder.
When Ling Nuonuo fell asleep, Song Qingtian put her down.
She climbed into bed, softly patting her daughter and kissing her little face.
Just then, Ling Hanyu pushed open the door and walked in.
Seeing Song Qingtian, Ling Hanyu paused for a moment.
He casually closed the door behind him and headed straight for the bathroom.
Song Qingtian immediately sat up. “Mr. Ling, let’s talk.”
“Talk about what?” Ling Hanyu went straight to the bathroom and didn’t say another word to Song Qingtian.
Song Qingtian had never met anyone so self-righteous.
“I want a divorce.”
Ling Hanyu’s steps froze—he’d already taken off half his clothes.
“Choose: the child or the divorce.”
Song Qingtian opened her mouth, ready to pick divorce.
But then she glanced at her sweet, cuddly little daughter and fell silent.
If she left like this, what would be the point of everything she’d done?
She stayed precisely because of Nuonuo.
Yet once they divorced, no matter the outcome, given Ling Hanyu’s nature, he certainly wouldn’t allow her and Nuonuo to see each other anytime soon.
Nuonuo was so attached to her now—what if she got sick?
Thinking of all this, Song Qingtian had no choice but to turn back.
Since Ling Hanyu wasn’t willing to divorce for now, she’d just have to wait and see; there’d surely be a way.
Either way, Nuonuo was her bottom line—she couldn’t bear to be separated from her, at least not for now.
She needed to make sure Nuonuo was well cared for before she left.
But could she really leave?
Last time was an accident, after all.
It wasn’t possible for her to return every single time something unexpected happened.
What if she couldn’t go back?
And if she could, would this place then be nothing more than a dream—a mere illusion?
Song Qingtian felt terrible—on one hand there was Nuonuo, on the other Dad—and she simply didn’t know what to do anymore.
Now there was yet another extra problem, making her even more anxious!
