Chapter 9: Let’s Get a Divorce

Chapter 9: Let’s Get a Divorce

“I’m fine—I came here with Ling Hanyu.”

Song Qingtian’s eyes lit up as she looked at Qin Zhengxiao.

“Oh, really? What a coincidence to run into you! I was just about to call you—want to come to tonight’s class reunion?”

“A class reunion? Who’s going?”

Song Qingtian had originally planned to decline, but seeing such a handsome man made it hard for her to refuse.

“Just a few close classmates.”

“Great! Send me the address on WeChat!”

“Okay!”

Song Qingtian thought she’d been awfully clever—this way she could cover up the fact that she didn’t even have Qin Zhengxiao’s WeChat number. And once she and Ling Hanyu got divorced, she could even try to develop something with him. How wonderful!

But before Qin Zhengxiao could answer, Song Qingtian suddenly felt a chilling coldness on her back.

She turned around curiously—and there, standing behind her without her noticing, was Ling Hanyu, his expression stern as he stared at her, making her skin crawl.

Song Qingtian turned back and gave Qin Zhengxiao an awkward smile.

“Um, you should go ahead. I still have a few things to discuss with my husband.”

Qin Zhengxiao glanced at Song Qingtian with some concern. “Are you sure you don’t want me to stay and help?”

“What help could I possibly offer? Just go.”

With that, Song Qingtian turned to face Ling Hanyu and asked him earnestly, “Do you understand the whole story now? I’m not pregnant—are you relieved?”

Ling Hanyu studied her carefully, saying nothing, his gaze probing and unyielding as he fixed his eyes on Song Qingtian.

How could this woman still be smiling?

Just moments ago she was chatting and laughing with another man!

She wasn’t nervous or afraid—in fact, there wasn’t even a trace of greed in her eyes anymore…

This left Ling Hanyu deeply unsettled. But he wasn’t used to arguing in public, so he headed toward the car, and Song Qingtian hurried after him, her little legs pumping furiously.

The driver drove in silence after asking Ling Hanyu a question, while Song Qingtian huddled in the corner of the car, trying to make herself as invisible as possible.

“Did you fake being pregnant just to avoid getting a divorce?”

Ling Hanyu asked, staring at Song Qingtian, whose behavior was so strange. She used to practically cling to him—what was going on now?

Song Qingtian blinked twice, thought for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, I faked being pregnant to avoid a divorce. But now I’ve changed my mind.”

She took a deep breath. “I’ve thought it over these past few days: forcing something never works. Let’s get a divorce—I’ve decided to let go!”

Song Qingtian spoke with great emotion.

Ling Hanyu’s gaze was almost murderous.

Seeing his reaction, Song Qingtian thought he mustn’t believe her, so she switched to a more heartfelt tone.

“I swear to heaven, I’m not lying or using Retreat to Advance. I’m really tired. Ling Hanyu, I’ve loved you for eight years, and we’ve been married for five. I don’t want to keep going like this anymore—let’s get a divorce!”

He looked at the woman in front of him and couldn’t believe she was being sincere. He gritted his teeth, feeling inexplicably agitated.

“Stop the car! You get out!”

“What?”

Song Qingtian hadn’t quite caught on to what Ling Hanyu meant, but he had already stepped past her, opened the door, and pushed her out of the car!

After stepping out, Song Qingtian was completely baffled. What had she said wrong to make Ling Hanyu so upset?

Ling Hanyu didn’t give her any chance to explain; he just gave her a cold look and told the driver to drive off.

“Gou nanren—how dare he just throw me out like that! Perfect timing—I’ll go to my class reunion instead!”

Song Qingtian waved her fist at the vanishing car, then hurried back to the sidewalk and immediately opened WeChat.

When she saw a message from Qin Zhengxiao, she grinned from ear to ear.

She remembered that Qin Zhengxiao liked Song Qingtian—exactly the kind of sunny, warm guy she was looking for! As for that jerk, Big Ice Cube, to hell with him!
