Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Qin Qinxi slightly raised her eyes to look at him.

What she saw was the man staring coldly at her, his gaze brimming with obvious murderous intent.

Would he fight back, or would he just shoot her dead?

Qin Qinxi sensed that this man had a violent streak.

After all, he’d beaten someone with a steel rod. Who knew if he treated women the same way?

She swallowed hard and then, trembling, stepped closer to him.

Vio narrowed his eyes and instinctively took a step back.

Qin Qinxi paused for a moment.

Slowly, she reached out and took his hand.

The man didn’t move; his gaze lingered on her slender, delicate hand.

He watched as she lifted his hand and brought it up to her own face.

This woman looked utterly aggrieved.

Her tear-soaked eyes were fixed on him, still sobbing.

She was naturally fair-skinned, with thin, delicate skin.

When she cried, her eye sockets turned red, and her nose and lips also flushed pink.

It made you want to cherish her tenderly, while subtly revealing a sense of fragility.

“I’m sorry…” Qin Qinxi said softly, her voice gentle and tinged with a coquettish end note, “Go ahead and hit me back… just don’t kill me… please…”

Vio could tell.

This woman was seducing him.

“I don’t hit women,” he said, withdrawing his hand and letting his gaze slide down from her face,

then lingering over her from head to toe before finally settling back on her face again.

Suddenly, the man raised his hand and cupped the back of her head, pulling her close until she pressed against his body.

Caught off guard, Qin Qinxi instinctively braced herself against his solid chest, tilting her head back and staring at him with tense eyes.

A wicked smile curled Vio’s lips.

“The last score,” he said, “I haven’t settled it with you yet.”

His hand moved toward his lower back.

Qin Qinxi froze, feeling the blood rush backward through her entire body.

“Shall I give you a quick, painless death?” the man asked, his tone oddly gentle but sending chills down her spine, “Since you behaved so well last night.”

He looked at her eyelashes, trembling uncontrollably, and said, “This is your reward.”

“Remember: in your next life, don’t ever cross paths with me again.”

Qin Qinxi was terrified, gasping for breath in big gulps, unsure what to do.

All she could do was watch as he pulled a gun from his waist, the muzzle pressing against her forehead.

Qin Qinxi’s eyes widened.

She was so frightened that she lost all control over her expression—tears still streaming down her face, snot running down her nose but too scared to wipe it away.

“Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!” she screamed, her voice cracking, “I know I was wrong! I know I was wrong!”

She didn’t dare move—not a bit.

“Just hit me! Hang me up and beat me all you want! Just don’t kill me! Please, please don’t kill me!”

This man was terrifying.

He really wasn’t normal.

Click, click, click.

Three soft clicks in succession.

Qin Qinxi felt the muzzle on her forehead tremble three times.

Each time he pressed it, her body shook three times.

Her hands unconsciously clenched the fabric of his shirt over his chest.

An empty gun.

He hadn’t engaged the safety catch.

Qin Qinxi was already shaking so badly she could barely stand.

She slowly raised her eyes to look at him.

The man wore an evil grin, his eyes sickly and distorted.

Seeing how terrified she was filled Vio with immense satisfaction.

He found it utterly amusing.

The man suddenly released her.

Qin Qinxi immediately went limp and collapsed to the ground.

Her heart was still racing, nearly on the verge of a heart attack.

She gasped for breath, beads of sweat breaking out on her forehead.

The tight dress she was wearing slipped off one shoulder, exposing half of her shoulder—and she didn’t even have time to fix it.

This scene fell right into the man’s eyes.
