Chapter 101: Counterattack 27
Just as Liu Qinxin had anticipated, Ming Yue moved out of the Ming Family Home—on the very third day after Liu Lai’s accident.
That day, Liu Qinxin had barely brought Liu Lai, his leg in a cast, back home when Ming Yue had already packed up all her belongings, busily instructing the movers to load box after box outside, not even sparing the bed and its slats—and she even took the light bulbs with her.
The entire room was left with nothing but the doors and windows still intact; the only thing that remained unchanged was the wallpaper.
Ma Fengying, standing nearby, was furious but dared not speak.
Ming Xia, beside her, gaped in disbelief, hardly able to believe her eyes.
Liu Qinxin herself froze in utter astonishment.
She had imagined that forcing Ming Yue out would mean something like… being miserably kicked out of here and left to wander the streets.
But how could it be like this?
How could it possibly turn out like this?
Liu Lai, seated in his wheelchair, stared at the scene before him and was so agitated he nearly jumped right off his chair. “You unlucky star! What are you doing? Are you trying to empty my house?”
“Believe me, I’d love to—but your dear old dad probably wouldn’t agree.”
Ming Yue temporarily put down her work, letting the movers carry on while she strolled over to the visibly upset Liu Lai.
Even though Liu Qinxin instinctively stepped in front of her son, Ming Yue easily sidestepped her and reached Liu Lai, gently patting his tense little face. “Little guy, you’ve finally been discharged? You look pretty badly hurt—what happened? How could you fall and cripple yourself just days after going out?”
“Mind your own business! Get lost!”
Liu Lai puffed out his cheeks even more and reached out to shove Ming Yue.
But how could he possibly budge her?
And with his injury still fresh, he was no match for her at all. Not only did he fail to push her away, but he ended up using too much force and nearly toppled himself.
It was only thanks to Ming Yue’s kind intervention that she caught him and pulled his little arm, saying, “I’ve told you time and again—I’m not good at shoving people away. If you want to see how it’s done, go ask your dad; that’s his specialty. Why can’t you two ever remember?”
“Me!”
Liu Lai’s cheeks puffed out even more.
But Ming Yue just smiled sweetly, let go of his arm, and once again patted his little face. “Me what? Did I say something wrong?”
“You!”
“Me what? Little rascal, you fell and broke your leg—not your brain! How come you suddenly can’t even speak clearly? You’d better watch out: maybe you should go back to the hospital and get your brain checked properly?”
“You go get your brain checked! Your whole family goes get their brains checked! You shameless unlucky star—get out of my way and stay far away from me!”
“Hehehe, I’ve seen stupid people, but I’ve never seen anyone this stupid! My whole family? Who’s my whole family? It’s got nothing to do with you, right? Little rascal, your brain really does seem to have taken a hit! We need to clean it up thoroughly—hurry up and go to the hospital for a full checkup, or else there’ll be water pooling inside, and it’ll all be foam!”
“Bullshit! It’s you who’s got water in your brain, you who’s got foam in your brain—you and your whole family…” Liu Lai habitually started to hurl insults at Ming Yue again.
But halfway through, he realized Ming Yue had actually made a valid point, so he swallowed the rest of his words right down.
Still, he couldn’t help feeling angry, so he reached out to shove Ming Yue—as usual—but Ming Yue had anticipated his move and stopped him in mid-air.
Then, as usual, she raised her hand to slap Liu Lai’s little face.
Liu Qinxin, unable to take it anymore, grabbed Ming Yue’s wrist and thrust it between Ming Yue and her son. “Will you ever stop? Stay away from my son!”
“Oh, so you’re getting nervous now? I was just trying to chat with little Lai Lai, to reconnect and build some rapport—why are you so anxious? Do you think I’d actually harm him? As a stray dog from a broken family, what kind of power do I even have? Just having a little chat—could it drive him crazy? Or make him lame? Or give him a stroke—or even kill him?”
