Chapter 106: Counterattack 32

It seemed as though he was being considerate of Ming Yue.

During the days Ming Yue had been staying at home, Jiang Feng hadn’t gone anywhere. Every day, apart from briefly stepping out to take out the trash or buy groceries, he stayed right by her side—either busy with household chores or simply keeping her company. Of course, sometimes he couldn’t help but pull a few mischievous tricks.

Like right now: the unnamed male operative, fresh from preparing dinner, walked into the bedroom, still wearing his apron, and scooped the sleeping woman right out of her blankets.

She grumbled in dissatisfaction.

He immediately responded with a passionate kiss, then gently patted her little face. “Still not awake? How about eating a bit first and then going back to sleep?”

“I don’t want to eat,” Ming Yue mumbled drowsily, barely even bothering to open her eyes.

Jiang Feng had already cradled her completely in his arms. “Be good and just eat a little bit—otherwise your stomach won’t be able to handle it.”

“I really don’t want to eat, Jiang Feng. Could you please put me back down? Just let me sleep for a bit longer—I’m not lying,” she babbled, curling up under the covers like a cat.

After all these days, she hadn’t slept so peacefully in ages. Back at the Ming Family Home, every single night she’d been half-awake, half-asleep, terrified that if she ever fell too deeply asleep, someone might sneak up and kill her in her bed.

But here, by this man’s side, she didn’t have a single worry. She was truly letting her heart and lungs relax as she slept.

Jiang Feng could tell.

Seeing how she kept her eyes closed, he felt a pang of tenderness—but he was also afraid that if she refused to eat, her stomach would really suffer. So he scooped her up again and suggested, “I’ll bring the food right into your room. Be good and eat just a little bit, then you can go back to sleep, okay?”

“Jiang Feng, when did you become such a nag? You’re acting like a girl!” Ming Yue grumbled in annoyance.

A smirk tugged at Jiang Feng’s lips. “Don’t talk nonsense. Do you even know whether I’m a man or a woman?”

“I really don’t know!” Ming Yue suddenly opened her eyes, cupping the man’s face with both hands and deliberately asking, “So are you a woman or a man?”

“Are you teasing me on purpose?” Jiang Feng pouted.

Ming Yue chuckled and promptly planted a sweet kiss on his lips as encouragement. “Then will you let me keep sleeping? Can I go out on my own?”

“You’re bribing me?”

“Mm-hmm.”

“But this bribe isn’t enough—what should we do?”

“Then give me another one?”

She wasn’t stingy at all; she immediately planted another kiss.

Only this time, unlike last time when she pulled away right after the kiss, the man grabbed her instead, turning the tables and kissing her senseless.

As they kissed, Ming Yue gradually came to her senses and, frowning, deliberately asked the man beside her, “Jiang Feng, be honest—do you have a thing for me? I haven’t even brushed my teeth yet, and you still dare to kiss me?”

“I’m not disgusted,” Jiang Feng replied with a laugh, licking his lips as if savoring the moment, before asking Ming Yue again, “Now that you’re awake, how about getting up and having some dinner?”

“No way.”

“Ming Yue!”

“Why are you shouting so loud? You scared me!”

She acted like a little drama queen, patting her chest lightly as if she’d been startled.

Jiang Feng immediately put his hand to his forehead, instantly slipping into character and playing along with her. He grabbed her little hand and quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry—did I scare you too much?”

“Of course I was scared!”

“So what should we do?”

“It’s simple—just let me keep sleeping.”

She blinked her big, watery eyes, looking directly at the man.

Jiang Feng burst out laughing and reached over to tickle her nose. “You think you can pull this stunt on me, huh? Do you think I’m stupid or easy to fool?”

“Neither.”

“So what is it?”

“You’re just a nice guy.”

“Stop trying to fool me.”

“Geez, why are you so hard to deal with? All I said was I didn’t want to eat—why do you have to grab me like that? Jiang Feng, are you really this annoying?”
